Just to clarify what is to be fixed in 1.32, it was indeed a job engine issue. The OP's investigation did lead us to find some odd posibilities should the Xenon choose to restock themselves but new Xenon ships would not build with things like Argon weapons.
Come watch me on Twitch where I occasionally play several of the X games

Hmm, with the state of the game currently I think I'll be better to put it on break and wait for after new year when it will hit 3.0

Hi,
I also tried to investigate the problem why there are so few ships in my game and I changed the jobs file so that argon "should" build 10 times the number of the default ship count. But no ship yard was building a single ship even after 20 minutes of observation.
I am pretty sure, that something else is broken as well.
I changed:
into:
for every argon federation type.
But nothing changed.
@Egosoft: did I miss something? WHen I understood the file correct, it should force the AI to build more ships.

Glad to hear you guys have a good handle on this issue, and that it seems like an easy enough fix. I'm sure I'm not alone in my appreciation for your dedication to smoothing out the wrinkles. This one is not an insignificant wrinkle, so thank you for putting it behind us with 1.32. It does beg the question, "1.32 when?". You guys have been all over the daily patches... just curious if we're waiting until tomorrow for this one. Thanks again!

it is very upsetting that these are your lines of argument. we all sympathize with ego. we all are fans of their work. what more can we do to facilitate their success? now I must keep my reasonable requests to myself?LennStar wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Dec 18, 14:55 Maybe there are two models - for the Xenon as Xenon and for a normal race. And what you see is not what the faction Xenon sees. Or someone just forget to put Xenon on model 2 instead of 1. Could be a typo. I wouldn't wonder.
You - if it was you - didn't get trolled. People just said they don't agree with you and you (or someone else) gonegschultz wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Dec 18, 05:17 I think my single biggest frustration with Egosoft (aside from the history of releasing broken games at launch) is the lack of communication from the developer.
I am not saying they need to respond to every player but when they see a lot of people commenting about something or pointing something out it would be nice if they would try to address it.
What is going on in terms of the games economy? What about factional conflicts? Do they have a road map for fixes they can share with people? What is the end result supposed to look like?
At this point I am ready to move on when the next decent sci-fi game releases and much like X-Rebirth I unfortunately will probably not come back to the game again after.
It is the first week. There are loads of bugs.
You (or someone else) demanded a Bug fixing roadmap in essence.
That would mean someone going round, disturbing people, make a plan etc. That would cost at least 20 man-hours and would still be incorrect because you can't know how long fixing a bug will take. It may - see above - a typo or it could mean serious work for days.
So what do you prefer - a plan that is incorrect and will have people steaming when it turns out bug X was not finished "as promised" and that costs at least 2 work days in man-hours ... or those hours put into fixing bugs?

well to get this working it may not be easy...but at least we know that 1.3 wasn't the fix. so on to the next one!!Max Bain wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Dec 18, 19:05 Hi,

It's not that the Job quotas are wrong, its the requests to meet the job quotas (i.e. build ships) that are wrong. Job quotas work fine (run the changes on a new game, set something dumb like Argon_XL to quota galaxy = "10000" sector = "1000" and you'll see the quotas work properly since universe-start build doesn't use the same build call.Max Bain wrote: ↑Mon, 10. NPCs don't use credits at all, to my understanding. (Much as a player doesn't have to use credits moving stuff between their own stations, and if and when they're implemented, player shipyards will presumably only require the materials to be present)

Might be true. But still captains and crew cost cash. I'm just thinking out loud here.

I just say that fixing the recipe for the xenon ships is not the final fix, because else argons would pump ships if the quotas have been increased.

Hey, you never know... When it comes to coding, there are no stupid questions, and anything considered so obvious its not worth checking is one of the first things to check most of the time xD

Code: Select all
<!-- TODO: @Owen: Be sure to uncomment the mission_job_shipyard_ordering script after testing. -->

Honestly, I don't understand how the jobs thing works. there is some sort of "expansion" and "contraction" mechanism that is also controlling the jobs, and the values you plug in there supposedly affect how the expansion and contraction works (someone who knows feel free to teach me)

Usually, with such changes, it's not "needed", but it could be advisable. More for a balance reason than anything else. Your save might have been suffering from the bug so long that its balance is all messed up and unforeseeable things happen. Or, again, it might just mean it's going to take a long while before the economy, finally kickstarted again, finds its average balance back, and you'd still have to wait several hours before being able to really trade again. Nothing fundamentally "broken" then, just a bit unpredictable. As long as you know and are fine with that, then it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

" NPC NO CREDITS"
orders a ship "captain have to be selected as several other items for the ship" as it is for players
Captain = 9000 credits
No credit no captain no order.
