Look up the Stargate SG-1 episode, "Enemy Mine." There is a particular segment (I think around 22 minutes) that is very relevant:

I have the CE I'm not counting on it.

It looked like they left everything to the last moment to keep the hype low after XR, but if the game performs well they should capitalize on it during the winter holiday season.

We all want X5 after all.

Need heavy marketing and a 10% sale on it for Christmas when buying willingness increases again. The "-%" sign does weird things to people's brain.

On Steam the Releascontdown for the Collector's Edition is ~4 hours shorter than the countdown for the standard Edition... :/

Is that true? Will the owners of the Collector's Edition have hours to play first while the others have to wait?! If yes.. why wouldn't that advertised:/

No, that's just an accidental mismatch. Neither timer has any significance as far as the actual time of release is concerned. So far all we know is that it won't be before 14:00 UTC, but when exactly after that it happens is still subject to a final decision.
