Picked up a high-grade mod from a standard loot drop in.. umm.. DV|MA I think. Unfortunately it was for PM v1, so I deconstructed it

Now I just have to get another 10 High-grade drops to make a new one :)(

BTW, has anyone found any weapon mods dropping from lockboxes yet (either mission-generated ones or the standard random finds)?

Oh, & will the weapon sell /with/ the mod (presumably for a higher price) or does the mod get automagically uninstalled if you sell its weapon?

I've only done two drop box missions so not a good sample. They only had seemingly random Inventory items but not mods.

I stopped doing the because the average value of the loot was substantially lower than the mission charge. I fed that back to Ego so hopefully that could change. Although perhaps the idea is we check many traders for very high purchase prices, which might suit other people's gameplay. Or again perhaps there are occasional great finds as an offset.

Thought the same. Payed up to 1.4million for a box in space worth 200k or something like that for standard prices.
Maybe we can get sometimes veeery special items out of them you couldn't get otherwise. :)

just started new game
very smooth, feels really fluid
easier to scan stations now.. saves time

looking good.. :roll:
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D :thumb_up:

Please don't tell me all I have to look forward to in the beta is a treasure hunt for 10 random bits of flotsam with which I may make an improved weapon that is not much use in the first place .... and the 10th bit is a random choice thrown with a 10 sided dice...... so far all this beta appears is craft bits to alter bits and shoot P's with ease ... please say I have more to look forward to..

Just checked...yes X Rebirth Trade Build Fight Think ...... not Knit Macramé Weave and try your hand at Pottery.

Is this a Space Sim or not .... ?

What cliff is this game falling off .... Come on Ego look at your site , never have I seen so little interest in a new patch ..... What is going wrong.

Did you see the patch notes that CBJ linked in the OP?

There are 50 documented changes there, also another 15-17 undocumented ones listed on the wiki here.

Edit, a lot of those entries are not new things of course but there's a few more than the items you mentioned. I guess there'll be more to talk about when the in-progress items become testable.

I know this is off topic about the beta ...but If I wanted a crafting game then there's Ark Survival and the like, If I wanted a spacey pew pew there's Elite.
I am about as big a fan of Egosoft as you can get because they made vast open games where there was danger, tension and challenge.... All those things are fading into the past.... I see nothing in the 6 or 7 hrs of the beta I have played to indicate a return to their strengths ....

Mostly that's because because beta 4 is an updated & improved vessel for the DLC(2),
which isn't done yet - presumably the extra content (& some game play) you're looking for will be there....I hope

Improvements are made piece-meal, one patch at a time, you can't expect
everything you dreamed of for X to suddenly turn up in one beta!

They are listening & developing, features long asked for are being implemented - like the player ship jump-drive.
Sure we all want more, but they're getting there :)

I partially agree, though I like the crafting aspect very much. It adds a little progression to the game upgrading the skunk and not just with money :)

I am way more thrilled for the upcoming DLC with 3 new sectors (or even systems?) so far what the gamefiles in patch 4.0 are promising - even though not in the gameplay aspect.
If they've done those 3 systems right this can be amazing. :)

While I agree that it is great they keep developing, you are the first person or post I've seen in this forum that actually wants a jumpdrive for the Skunk. (SINZA, too? - for record :D)

I hope they will grant the discount to loyal fans (who own XR and TO) for the DLC.

I enjoy crafting in games, I have Ark, Eden Star, Empyrion and recently purchased Grav Reborn out of curiosity and it was cheap.
X Rebirth was advertised as Space Opera on a Grand Scale and Space Opera on a Grand Scale is what most fans are waiting for....
3 New sectors/systems ... We already have numerous mods of extensions to the present Galaxy
Jump drive .... Euclids Jump drive mod as been around since end 2013.

@ Sparky .... with the greatest respect for all the work/advice you have given tirelessly to X Rebirth ...." you can't expect everything you dreamed of for X to suddenly turn up in one beta " ..... It has been 2 years and many beta's....... only the mod makers have made a difference.

I totally understand that Ego need to concentrate on a new product but it would be welcome to see a signpost to future development,,, or maybe what I see is the future from Ego .....

My main beef with the weapon mods is that they're yet another thing exclusive to the player. I really liked in previous games the parity between the player's equipment and the NPCs' equipment. It made me feel like I'm another citizen in the universe, rather than someone acting upon it from the outside.

If NPC ships had a chance to spawn with upgraded weapons that would be pretty sweet, but I'm assuming not.

Hi guys, i notice after reading the steam forums that theres an upcoming patch. It looks awesome.

So they will be adding 'Fly to position' order. Any chance they will add 'Defend/Escort the target' and 'Patrol specific area' type of commands and also behaviour stances like 'defensive, passive, offensive'?

Thing why i mention this is because there is currently no command that lets you defend specific NPC stations or ships(it only allows you to defend/escort your own asset via assign new leader) and also the current patrol command is frustrating because the patrolled area is so big, most of the time my ships end up patrolling the outskirts of the zone and take a long time to fly to the station or ships being attacked, being able to define an area of operations and its size helps a lot. Furthermore, i notice patrol fighters have a tendency to chase after passing or retreating enemies. They literally chase them through several zones or sectors and end up getting destroyed or leaving their guarded zone defenseless. Having behaviour stances will help too.

I'm afraid that with current beta progress, (~2 weeks per beta release) we won't see much more new stuff till possible christmass release.

A bit dissapointing.

Beta 3 is up:

some nice improvements:
Beta 3 Added ability to claim ownerless capital ships by placing NPC on platform.
Beta 3 Improved speed of medium sized ships.
Beta 3 Improved balancing of ship prices (increased price of container transporters by 50%, reduced other medium sized ships by 25%).
Beta 3 Improved accuracy of combat damage calculations when player is not present.
Beta 3 Added new Nyanae ships to Omicron Lyrae, replacing the Gigurum ships there.

we already got Teladi Outpost free, that was a great move

Don´t think we´ll get more goodies though :)
