There should definitely an option to cancel mission.
Of course with more rep lost than once completed.

E.g. now I have two "hanging" missions:
* Bring 200 units of Meatsteak Cahoonas to the station X
* Bring 5 units of Alpha Particle Canon to the station Y

With my ship (only one M4 - started new game while ago) can only take about 15 Meatsteak Cahoonas at once - there is no sense for me to complete this mission nor to wait X years for better ship - I suspect that then 40 rep for completing that mission will have no meaning for me.

In the second mission (5 units of Alpha Particle Canon) there is similar reason - because I haven't discovered enough space to find Alpha Particle Canon sellers - it might occur that completing this mission have no sense in future.

Besides... Fantastic work - having much fun with it :)

Yeah, It took me THREE DAYS in-game to scrounge up 80 beluga missiles for two missions that wanted them. Apparently after doing a few beluga missile missions earlier, the universe just did not want to produce many of them anymore. :P

I totally agree on the need to be able to cancel a mission.

Also, there needs to be missions that ask you to build stations that are the 'end products' instead of just resources. Like say if a factory is producing a ton of argnu beef and is not able to sell it all, there could be a mission from them asking to 'expand their business' and make a cahoona bakery for them. Or someone asking to be built some PAC forges or something.

Mainly I ask this cause I would like to help the universe expand during my playthrough more than just building a bazillion solar power plants. I don't want to be the only thing around with some decent infrastructure, I want to turn the whole universe into a golden age!

Reinstalled XM:R, seemed to have fixed the issue.

On the other hand, I'm currently 0/5 for risky business missions. Do they ever pay off? It seems the payout rate is so low that it is never worth it to do them.

i want to start as xenon with default name l0l0l0l  .

for those struggle early game. don't worry just stick to several sector at first.

the mission rate will increase as you gain station rep.

though it is really hard to find mission in early game with only 2 mission every 3 sector

It's pure luck ; I just started a game two days ago as default Argon, and there were 3 missions in Argon Prime.

@Joubarbe: is there any chance for mission cancellation functionality or it's too much work?

Too much work. That would require to rewrite a lot of things, because cancelling a mission is not that easy when you spawn special ships for the unique purpose of the mission. With the latest addition however, the need to cancel should be minimum... The products needed by station are clearly stated ; don't simply take a mission because it's there.

I thought so that it will also lead to remove spawned assets.
Thanks, this explanation convinces me and your lastest sentence is very accurate :)

The heavy convoy and escape missions at highest difficulty are basically impossible.

For Heavy convoy, on extreme difficulty it spawns 3-4 M7s and a few M2s directly on top of the ship you are suppose to protect. Unless you have enough firepower to kill ALL of those ships in about 1-2 mins, which means 20+ capital class ships, the allied Q will run head first into the enemy and get itself killed instantly. The fact that the entire enemy fleet focus fires on him makes this almost unavoidable. You also pretty much need to have a m8 on site to kill the never ending hail of missiles the smaller ships throws at it (except I'm not even sure if M8 missile defense will protect non-owned ships or not).

Similarly, for 'escape' missions. You sometimes have them spawning right next to a station and causing you to insta-lose the mission.

Compared to other missions, these are dis-proportionally difficult.

On the other hand, direct assault and 'wanted' missions are almost trivial even on the highest diff. For any direct assault mission you can just run in with a fast M6, ram the TM while your jumpdrive is charging and get out almost without risk. The M7s guarding a extreme difficulty direct assault boss can't even kill the squishiest M6 in time to stop that. A fast M7 does this even better and with even less risk.

For wanted missions, all you have to do is loiter around home sectors and hide behind the M2P and its escorts. No mercenary force can even get close to you.

I think as a potential solution, the Heavy Convoy and Direct assault missions need to have scaling ships as their targets. So you'll end up having to kill a M2 for direct assault at Extreme, and protect a K or I for heavy convoy.

I think the wanted missions are pretty balanced. Extreme Is a challenge if you don't cheese it by running away and letting allies fight em. Plus the fact that if you get all damaged you gotta be careful going to another sector.

Heavy convoy is definitely near-impossible to do on extreme I will agree.

But that isn't why I came here today. I found a bug! I believe it to be an integer overflow error.

And before the 5th day began! I have been wanting to get a Valhalla for YEARS and I finally managed to get the rep and the funds needed for it! :p

Maybe just the sight of the Valhalla made them think twice about charging me money to improve it...

Also the Valhalla rips through the extreme Wanted missions. Need to have some idiots in a destroyer try their luck. XD

Something bothers me much... how is loot module working?

Sometimes I see message: "Loot Value XXX" and nothing happens - no extra cash added to my account, no flying crates either.

You are absolutely sure of that ? Nothing happens ? No crates ?

The loot value is the value of all the stuff you loot from killing an enemy. It doesn't give you anything directly.

This loot system is managed by the script "Sig.Killed.NPC.Run".

No, last time haven't spotted new crate on sector map. I'll recheck it next time when loot is generated. Is it possible for AI to catch my loot crate?

And by the way - when entering PMA from my other ship's menu (when that ship is in another sector) I see available missions in my current sector, not his.
Shouldn't it show missions in second's ship sector just without possibility to comm?

The AI could crash into some of your crates, or you could shoot it by mistakes... It's very unlikely that nothing happens when you see a loot message.

It's intended. You cannot accept missions from other sectors. It's already simple enough to accept missions :)

Hello :)

I have been using Litcube's EMS for missions in my current game.

However, I'm growing a bit tired of it. I would like to try your XMR. Can I follow your install instructions even though I have EMS installed already? Or do I need a clean folder without EMS already in it?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to trying your missions :)
