Yes, that appears to be the case, but unless I'm not 'getting it' this is also the case even without Transcend installed. What I desperately need, is for someone to point out precisely how Transcend is different than vanilla. Otherwise, I have no clue what I'm looking for.

These supposedly unstaffed stations will fire on enemies. This tells me that the Defense Manger is doing his/her job even though marked with a bunch of '???' in the Info screen (same as vanilla).

There must be some players who are very familiar with all things trading related. Unfortunately, I am not one of them - since I spend 90% of my game-time modding rather than playing per se.

Have to stop and eat, but did verify that the gates are open when Transcend is installed into an existing save. Yay! And thanks!

Trying to think of a way to figure out if the NPC station scripts are operating on the stations, but I couldn't think of any right now outside of shooting them to see if they shoot back. (You apparently tried that already though, so the DO script, at least, is operating.) I suspect it's just the display though, as said by Exavier724, unless anyone's experiencing stations not functioning?

Trades go through the managers. Shouldn't be possible to trade with a station without a working manager script. Sorry didn't think to try that.

edit: I don't think production will be affected. Tested that in something unrelated. Player stations, at least, continue producing without managers.

Just to try and clear some confusion here, there's no problem with most of the station, those with ??? need scanning to 100% to remove the ???.

(see my post on P23 of this topic.)

I truly appreciate your attempt to clear some of the confusion - but clarity still eludes me much to my dismay!

If I understand the issue under complaint, it is that Transcend stations are not operating. One of the symptoms given, is that stations are not indicating active NPC's in control of them. Yet, I see the same thing described when I completely remove Transcend and run vanilla (no mods) using Free Play gamestart:

Scanning the station makes no difference. I'm wondering if I'm spinning my wheels on a non-problem?

Station info shows Management (???), and that's consistent with stations in Albion, BUT where it should show "Manager," "Defence Officer," etc, it shows nothing. Just the "Management" line, already expanded, with the "Service Personnel" line immediately underneath.

I landed and got a trade agent on the station, but it still shows no trades available -- neither buying nor selling.

Shot up one of it's weapons platforms (Targon Tracer?), shot up all of the turrets on the thing, and it's not shooting back.

Upon reading, I thought Ah ha, we have something to sink our teeth into! However, when I visit that exact same station, here is what I see:

If I'm interpreting correctly, it sounds like this issue presents when running from an old savegame from prior to Transcend installation. I say this, because I am not seeing the problem with new gamestarts. I don't happen to have any savegames that I can test with. However, guessing what might be happening, I am preparing a patch that I'll be asking you guys to test prior to me fully updating the mod to see if the problem corrects.

Nope. I don't see the Defence Officer ???, Manager ???, Engineer ???, Weapons Technologist ??? lines.

That service personnel line is immediately below the Management (???) line, with the Management line expanded.

Yes, that would apply to my case, at least, and DaveDee's case as well, if I remember correctly. And thank you for working on a patch for this. I know that you stated from the beginning that it's a game start mod.

Correct, alas I do not have any old saves to try with no transcend, as i have used transcend from day one of its release :)

Yes, this was a plot gamestart that I had been playing since X:R v3.10 came out, and to which Transcend with Highways was installed.

Understood (finally I think). :)

Fix (hopefully) on the way. I'll provide a single file to download that I'll ask you to insert into the Transcend folder (I'll explain which one) if you have time. This patch fix should be available within the hour.

Observe, don't know if it will make a difference or not, but I managed to replicate what w.evans and davedee are seeing...

1) Load rebirth
2) disable transcend in extensions and restart game
3) choose game start and start playing
4) save game
5) turn transcend back on again and restart
6) load save
7) goto maelstrom and through transcend gate
8) goto first station and bring up menu and there it is.. :)
