[DELETED] X3 Remap
[ external image ]
WHAT?
I've sliced Litcube's Universe appart and then patched it back together. Like legos.
The map is new. Not a single sector is left where it was before (Except OCV sectors).
There are about 60 new sectors. I don't know the exact number, i'm to lazy too count.
Some sectors have been changed. A lot.
And that's it.
WHY?
We've been having the same universe for ever. It's boring and LU deserves something better.
WHAT DO I DO?
Explore, enjoy. Please don't post maps of this universe in this thread. I don't want to spoil other people's exploring experience.
Here's a map with no sector names.
[ external image ]
CURRENT STATUS?
All planed sectors done, it should work just as good as vanilla LU.
Download latest Beta:
removed due to incompatibility
Installation:
Unzip to root game directory.
i hope it works.
TESTING TASKS:
How is Terran economy behaving?
Phanon?
OCV?
Stock exchange?
DON'T UPDATE LU UNTILL I UPDATE REMAP
DON'T USE RSM!
OTHER MAP MODS WILL *$%# YOUR GAME UP, DON'T USE THEM
Thank you,
Litcube and and everyone else involved with making LU, you did a wonderful job!
solarahawk for spending A LOT of time and effort to make this mod LUV compatible after so many versions had passed.
Egosoft, for making great AP and ****** Rebirth, ingame events of which, inspired this map
DIMOSUS, for making map tool.
My girlfriend for being supportive about this, even though she's not a gamer!

This version has + 9 additional sectors, there will be about 60 more, including aldrin-as-it-should-have-been and devries.Joubarbe wrote:Interesting.
So how many sectors now ?
Did Litcube say anything about that ? Maybe how these changes are supported by his universe ? I mean, maybe there's some stuff you're not aware of that could potentially mess the game if the universe is changed.
That's what the testing is for. And that's why it's alpha. The phanon uses some sector definitions but that has already been set. everything else should be based on "find station in universe " logic.
The only thing that worries me is that I moved some solar system sectors. I redesigned them and put them in a different location. I'm not sure how this will effect terran economy.
I'll know more when i get home, as i have a game running on seta

There's very little MD active in LU. i never wanted to do this for vanilla because there is A LOT of MD code active (plots and other stupid stuff).
Performance should remain at the same level.
tl;dr
it needs proper play-test, but it should work fine "as is".

that's why subtitles exist. the sector name is there. sector name will be shown in every log and in every script.Joubarbe wrote:A shame you don't do Betty voices. I think it can be a problem, especially with some scripts or even in Vanilla, when you hear "warning, one of your ship is being attacked in [Sector]".

0.50 BETA is out!
It's been tested a lot more since 0.23 and it works just as well as vanilla LU.
All new sectors race (see OP for map) are done.
Sector descriptions are still to be done.
A lot of work went into this and i've tried keeping the universe fun and pretty.
Update to 0.50:
Patch LU as you normaly would, just on every update copy Remap files.
1.1.8 is special due to import/export fix, see main thread for that!
Next update will contain some minor adaptations of existing sectors (such as Stock Exchange locations, OWPs, etc.)
Prizes for explorers included in game

just a quick update, as i notice some people were actually brave enough to try this
i'm not at PC this weekend, but next release will include some map fixes (mostly just station/OWP placement) and job improvements. i'm not expecting any higher load on CPU.
so... i'm just waiting for LU 1.20 to get busy.
i've not noticed anything out of the ordinary in the game, so starting from next version, it's "officialy" stable beta
in fact, only bugs i've noticed are in vanilla lu, and have already been reported.

most of it *should* work, however i think there will be some problems (e.g. game starts won't work, the bridge won't work etc.)gastovski wrote:X-Missions reloaded works with this?.
you're welcom to try it out though... at least to confirm everything else is working.
i've actually been looking into that feature list, so who knows. this is only beta, so i suppose some compatible version might be arranged in the future.
with your help, compatible version is more likely

Saturn complexes are found in Saturn 3 in default LU. I can't seem to locate them after installing this. Same for some equipment like Jumpdrive Quantifiers and Explorer software. There may be more but those are what I found so far. I backed this mod's changes out, restarted and could find everything.
Also on the map, have you considered regionalizing them a bit more? Right now the various races are pockets almost like a checkerboard. Perhaps build them up more as you'd expect nations to be.

No. the point of it is that it's random and harder for everyone. Xenon, pirates and bastards all over the place. Split like. Much kill!Xakthos wrote:Saturn complexes are found in Saturn 3 in default LU. I can't seem to locate them after installing this. Saturn 3 is renamed and located somewhere in south east corner. Even i don't know where exactly. Map from OP might give you a hint.

Hm. I did find the Saturn complexes; I didn't expect the renaming of the original sectors, just new ones added. My bad on that.vukica wrote: No. the point of it is that it's random and harder for everyone. Xenon, pirates and bastards all over the place. Split like. Much kill!

I could see the layout of the sectors being nasty if the races would war against each other and could take over sectors then build them up. May have to tinker with some of the race relation mods and see if I can get them to work with LU's stuff.
Still it may have been reassembled a little too randomly. Some of the sectors that end up swarmed from the moment go never really recover and the race AI just can't respond very well. Still it is interesting watching how it goes.

there are a lot more pirate and xenon sectors in the way.
it's harder for the player, and for other races. piracy is a real problem, and you have to be very careful if you plan on surviving
"home" sectors (north north-east, and center) aren't random, and are pretty well organized like in the original.
i've already added (not published yet) some OWP's to the most threatend sectors, but there's a lot of them and that sometimes makes things difficult

p.s. OP says "Some sectors have been changed. A lot"
