Ok so finally found correct thread.

First off, the troubles with " Drone Carrier Software 2 (DCS2)" installation....

It seems after running X3/AP vanilla I installed the MOD using the manager lite program, an it came up installed correctly. I followed the exact rules in the write up an had no issues.

When I loaded up the game (not using the manager program) I used Steam exe...
It popped up some loading screen images in really low detail but there was no MOD installed when I bought a Carrier (Shark). SO I tried a Argon Carrier an still nada.

I installed MARZ, an I noticed there was a command in MARS saying "Recall drones" under the controls options for shortcuts. So it seems to have installed "part of it". As it said "Recall drones"(DCS2). I hot keyed that command an it worked fine (I think).
But nothing els comes up at all for some reason.

I have done this multiple times, an even manually installed it. Nothing seems to change it at all

I dont know what other info anyone might need, but as has been said "please limit the confusing for a "newbe" (an hold off on the abuse) I am a Deep Sea Trawler-man, NOT a computer genius :)

Does your carrier have

Carrier Command Software and a Transporter Device?

=)

and make sure your pluging manager is locating the right exe,
did you check

?:\x3 terran conflict\addon\scripts\plugin.bw.dcs2.carrier.task

if that's in your scripts directory it should be installede correctly,

steam sometimes do weird things with the game, you might consider getting the nonsteam exe from the egosoft homepage, and make a sidecopy, that's alot safer with scripts and mods

yeah mate all that was correct, but I fixed it.... Sort of. It seems it wont work with main line Carriers, but it works with Cerberus type ships. No idea why though.

You sure you installede the Transporter device and a Carrier command software on your carrier ships?
when your sure the ship has this installede, go to the combat menu with the carrier, and there should be a drone carrier software v2 menu at the buttom
enter this menu, and activate the build drones,
if not, your missing something, maybe in the installation, you dont need to bind any keys, for getting carrier to work, you just have to activate it, from the combat menu, and it should work automaticly

where exactly do you access your drone software in your Cerberus?

Oh, I remember now. You are the "two-mile deep" guy, right? That is impressive in its own way.

Figge04 has been giving you the correct advice. A couple of additions:

You did not answer my question of whether you see the DCS2 menu choice on the Combat menu for your carriers? (After adding Carrier Command Software and Transporter Device to the carriers)

The drones used by MARS are the old-style Fighter Drones (Mk1 and Mk2). They are unrelated to DCS2's new-style racial drones introduced in AP.

The "Recall Drones (DCS2)" hotkey is unrelated to MARS. As the name suggests, it is for DCS2. Of course, the hotkey will only work if DCS2 drones have been created and are in flight.

Please describe your startup screens or post a screenshot. Do they have any text on them? DCS2 does not change startup screens, so they come from another script/mod, but we may be able to help you to identify them if you show us what they look like.

FAQ - How to post a screenshot. I would add that you can use Windows Paint rather than downloading and installing IFranView. Also that I find Imgur.com a handy place to host images.

OK, the start up screen is just a image of the Predator Drone by looks of it, or one of those types.... Not sure. As for the DCS2. I got the command working (Sweet program by the way)..... It still wont work on my Main Carriers though (I have 3 Argon Carriers). But my 2 Cerberus have it working just fine.

Only thing it seems I am missing is a Transporter on my Main Carriers, I will grab that soon as I can fly em back from Terran space. I must admit though, some warning would have been nice :D.

I spent 3 hours last night when I got it working trying to figure out where 200 mil had gone an I had 0 credits in my account..... Then today I happened to be watching when I was building some ships I noticed straight after I built some fighters my account was Zero again....lol EXPENSIVE MOD!!

The DCS2 commands are indeed at bottom of the Combat menu.

I am glad that you got it working, Tasogie!

Interesting. Is it the same picture that is in the first post in this thread? If so, then something must have installed it; I suppose it could have been the Plugin Manager, although I have never seen it in my game.

I *did* give you some warning. From the OP (OP = "Original Post" = the first post in the thread):

Requirements
  • Any carrier, including TM and M7C.
  • Credits. Lots of credits (but less than other carrier solutions)
  • Carrier must have Carrier Command Software and a Transporter Device.

So, is the startup screen the same as the picture in the OP?

Regarding costs, carriers have always been a rich man's weapons system. A Raptor full of M3+'s costs close to a billion credits. DCS2 is more economical, although still expensive.

If you want to get fancy, then the costs can be modified in the language file.

I'm certain you mean a billion credits, not a million...

Just for the fun of it,
I've installede over my old installtion of DCS2 using the plugin manager, and it does indead place the "DCS2_SpecOpsBomber_01 DCS2_Drone_Carrier in directory loadscr"

Tasogie, if you dont want to look at em, you could just delete em, the 2 screenshots, are in ?:\x3 terran conflict\addon\loadscr

OK, thank you for clearing that up, Figge. I added the .jpg to the installation package just for fun. It does not have to be there. Or, maybe I can make it the same resolution as other files in the folder so that it will look better.

it would be nice with some diffrent loadscr's, as my computer is kind of old, so im spending abit of time watching them hehe

It's all good I dont mind the costs, as its silly to make the game to easy. I was jsut shocked at having 12 Elite heavy fighters (cant remember the name) was 70 mil lol.

As for the screenshots, meh its irrelevant. There is two shots, one needs a drastic upgrade as its barely viewable, one is ok, just normal low res.
The really bad one is a black ship, by looks of it on fire, but its almost impossible to see anything as its so pixelated.

Is this your first carrier, ever, in the game? A fully-equipped M3 costs around ten million, so you actually got a bargain when you bought a dozen of them for under a 120 million. Elites are not "heavy fighters", however. They are M4+ "light fighters".

The loading screens are certainly not "irrelevant" if they are coming from my script!!! Luckily, Figge stepped up and answered the question. :)

The "black ship" is probably just a ship in your universe. The game creates some load screens automatically from objects in your game. Some of those screens are poorly lit. *Shrug*... it's just the way the game works.

I wasn't trying to be insulting mate.... in any way shape or form... its just way I talk :)...What I mean is the load screens dont "effect me" in game play....

I have had several Carriers in game before I found your script/MOD, but they always died really easy when a Destroyer chewed them up so I stopped bothering. But I have noticed with your MOD they can really hold their own against all but the top Capitals.

When used for OOS defense, DCS2 is capable of killing any size enemy. The bombers are very tough. You will lose some drones, but they will "win" in an extended battle. OOS Defense is actually the primary role for DCS2, because the game can create crushing enemies while OOS.
  • (No offense taken... I just meant that my question was relevant to *me*, even if it was not relevant to *you*. :) Anyway, Figge solved it.)

Hoping you can help me out Doctor; trying to understand what I'm doing wrong.

Installed the DCS2 script, equipped a Solaris properly to use it and the option to activate it appears in the COMBAT menu as expected.

Activate drone production and the carrier begins producing bombers and interceptors, again, as expected.

CODEA is installed, but this particular carrier is just for DCS and does not have any crew aboard so, only activated the DCS engage enemy option. Sent the ship into a sector with lots of Khaak bad guys. As expected, it launched the first attack against an advanced corvette and whipped the floor with it. Fantastic.

However, here is where the trouble starts. After the kill, the bombers and interceptors all just stop with no orders and just sit, allowing themselves to be picked off and destroyed. There are absolutely other hostiles in range per the engagement range settings.

Any thoughts as to what I may be doing wrong? Thanks Doctor!

Edit: This happened during OOS combat I should probably say. Sent the carrier, on its own, to another sector from myself.
