Who beta tested this.
I have played every X game out there and normally the improvements make game better each time. But this time besides all the bugs navigating is a pain in the ass you have to know how to get to where you are going to get there even using the map. The map navigation system is hands down worst I have ever seen. Cant believe no auto pilot feature.
The interface is terrible
-Double click don't work half the time.
-no hot key options for docking.
-no auto target when being attacked (get serious damage due to this because will be so many enemies in sector that I cant select and find one attacking me unless I see it.)
-no hotkey to select nearest/most damaged/strongest enemy.
-I'm sure there is many more.
Other issues iv found.
-Ships you own no matter what wont stop following you no matter what.
-Crash every time I try and enter ship I buy.
-Can't build a station because construction ship will only follow me.
-Can't capture ships most times it just stops doing anything.
-Engineer does not repair captured ships.
-No orders to give to any of your ship captains other then join my squadron or not be in squadron.
-Trading does not work in a game that trading is one of primary means to make money. (only way I've found to make cash other then scanning for debris is buy buying the very top missile (can't remember name) for cheap and selling it high can make a hundred thousand easy in same docking spot.
-If you get attacked and attacked back you get reported to the police non stop even if they attack first.
-All the NPCs on the Universe are stupid ask any of them where a ship yard is they all say they don't know.
Tons more issues I just have not experienced or cant remember right now but as it stands this game was not ready for release unless there plan was to release it unfinished and put it on the players to fix what they could not.

I agree with all of your points. There is no way any of these could have been missed by even the least imaginative beta tester. I expect they probably did all get reported prior to release but Egosoft did not have enough time to actually fix them.
When the story eventually comes out we will likely discover that Egosoft knew the game needed a lot more work but their publisher forced this deadline on them. They then spent the next few months scrambling to throw together something at least halfway complete.

i think there was no real beta test...
i guess the problem was, that they discovered that they have to rebuild huge parts of the engine. but that would cost much time that the publisher didnt want to accept. so they wanted to see money... the prob is that this game is definitely a beta. too much "simple" bugs in mission etc. a beta test reveals such bugs in the kampagne. i think they tried to complete the game or lets say they tried to complete the content because they wanted to create much detail.... bugs like the performance issues... lol.. they cant tell me they dont have pc's like i5 first to 4th gen in some variants. even if they buy ready build ones by dell, lenovo or whatever... i think they knew that there are many many bugs but they had no time to fix them

honestly you can't really blame the beta testers, sometimes they are just assigned to do 1 or 2 tasks, like say, test out all the highways and jump gates, and thats all they get to do.
And even if they are allowed to do other things, its the programmers responsobilty to listen to the testers.
But agian if all they had them do is do some of things listed then you can't really blame the testers for it. Its not there responsiblity for them to fix the problems. You can lead a horse to water but you can't force them to drink it. Same idea here.

Re: Who beta tested this.
You summed up all of the main problems I currently have with the game. The game was apparently dumbed down so much, you cant do anything.cgoodson wrote:I have played every X game out there and normally the improvements make game better each time. I'll add my finings.
* Crashes - Sorry guys but it's worse than X3TC at it's release:
- Quick load save command = Fatal error "dump save"
- Universe map -> zone-> when u get the plutarch mining in the menu at the very begining of the game.. i hit details.... Dump save crash - This one can be repeated every time w/o exception
* How do you get external cam on your ship or NPC ships so i can do some wallpapers shoots or just admire the graphics.
* The NAV MAP is horrible as said above.
I just started the game so maybe i need to buy an equipement to have a 3D radar like the one in X3 TC??
* When i double click on a NPC ship and hit for info i go to on-board screen on my right, while it's nice it WASTE TIME, an instant Holo - HUD box with info would be better. The info showed is POOR, no way to find out max shield it can be fitted with, does it have a back turret or side turrets...
Example - AES hydrogen harvester - the info box privides me no data on it's shields, i guess this on didnt had at all installed but then whats the max possible upgrade? Old school 3x 25 Gj info was useful.
It has 8 operational guns but i have no idea how are they scattered : 4 in front or just 2.
Sorry didnt played Albion prelude, stopped at x3 TC and this kind of info is mandatory from my POV.

Last hope for X Rebirth is that Egosoft stop to be arrogant and stupid and give access to Source Code for public.

Yep this game is too bugged to be played now.
It seems like a enormous fail for me. I'm so disapointed right now. spend a lot of time just loading saving to avoid bugs....
Review of the game will be disastrous from all the press. There is no way a journalist will high rate the game in its current state.
Too bad because it's beautiful very immersive and with tons of good ideas. But we can't enjoy it because we can't do nothing without being stuck by a bug X or Y
