[Request] Removing Nebula Textures
Yes, they're beautiful, yes, I love them, but comparing my FPS in sectors that have them, and sectors that don't, they eat about half my frames. Anyone know what I could do to remove them?

Re: [Request] Removing Nebula Textures
I don't have access to my files atm, but as I recall, nebulae are defined at the cluster and at the zone levels. Therefore, you'll find nebulae clouds present in the maps/zone xml file as well as the assets/cluster cluster xml (there is one for each cluster). If you decide to make a mod for this, be sure to use the patch method in your dlc extensions folder.TailsDeveraux wrote:Yes, they're beautiful, yes, I love them, but comparing my FPS in sectors that have them, and sectors that don't, they eat about half my frames. I mean the local cloudsRealspace wrote:do you mean local clouds or the backgrounds? I don't think backgrounds would change a lot for FPS, anyway I for sure am going to replace some in my mod, as soon as I can make the engine use the old X3 .BOD files..any guess if it is possible to convert them?

just want to see the background and internal better.
The engine seems quite unstable, but the hope dies last

I may have a bruteforce solution. I didn't go over the zones. I removed the object references from the fog macros. It's much less work this way but not quite as elegant since the fog entries will still be there, just not visible.
Could someone test this for me?

Yes it works.
However the background is now very light-colored.
Here two screenshots for comparison.

Thanks you for spending time on it. The clouds are gone so far...but.
There is one more thing that prevents clear view.
The engine seems to generate gray veil, in distance, over the whole image.
Maybe you can find the way to fix that too. Thank you so far for remove the clouds.
On the Pics you can see the closer I get the less the gray veil.

Is that just where the fog was previously or everywhere?Hrimthur2008 wrote:Hello Enenra.enenra wrote:I may have a bruteforce solution. I didn't go over the zones. It's only on places where you would normally see fog.
Areas without fog, like this:

Look still good.

Good to know! I'm going to look into it but it's good enough for a first version so I'm going to create a new topic for it.Nebucatnetzer wrote:It's only on places where you would normally see fog.
