G'day guys, long time no see!
So I've recently reacquired X3:TC after a far-too-long haitus. Sadly as I lost my old disks I had to get the game from Steam this time. That's all well and good! Downloaded it successfully, etc.
However; upon installation of the XTC Mod (and a few reinstall attempts with clean files), I am greeted by a missing file called "types\globals".
Any suggestions? I feel it may have something to do with Steam auto-patching to X3:TC 3.2. But I'm not sure.

Well I'm running XTC under TC 3.2, even though we're not supposed to - my desktop isn't working atm, and TC was running poorly on my laptop. It does seem to break a few script positions paired to their descriptions (again) so hopefully 2.0 will have 3.2 compatibility.
I think types/globals is one of the most important files in the game (introduced in TC to consolidate mass changes to things like jobs right?) so if your Steam version of TC would start before installing XTC, the installation is probably going incorrectly. I've heard installing the official patches over Steam installs will overwrite the encrypted .exe, that would let you change directories and install somewhere else.
Double check how XTC is installing: default is like '%systemroot%\Games' or thereabout. Steam installs have, I believe, been confirmed to work with most mods so that shouldn't be the problem here (XTC is more additive than modifying, compared to something like TotT).
Or, there's always the distinct possibility of having an isolated issue, completely unrelated to something easily predictable/fixable. Maybe I should go ask in the XR forums, it'd be the most novel thing on there in weeks...

ok so I am a little slow I just started playing X3TC the Aldrin missions after not playing for over a year. checking out updates I find X-Tended - Terran Conflict 1.2a does this mod add to your existing game ( I am in the middle of the Aldrin missions right now) or is it a game that you have to start from the begining? I do not have the Steam version.

You'll have to start a new game. XTC has an entirely different map so it's not compatible with vanilla saves(or any other save for that matter). IMO it's work the loss though, tons of new content. However, if I were you I'd wait for 2.0, which should be out in the next few weeks.DJC wrote:ok so I am a little slow I just started playing X3TC the Aldrin missions after not playing for over a year. checking out updates I find X-Tended - Terran Conflict 1.2a does this mod add to your existing game ( I am in the middle of the Aldrin missions right now) or is it a game that you have to start from the begining? With two seperate installs. If your game is installed in c/program files/egosoft/x3-terran conflict for instance, you could install it again at c/program files/egosoft/xtc or anywhere else you want it, for that matter. Make a shortcut to the new one and there you have it.DJC wrote:Thanks for the info I look forward to the new map as well as all the extras.
Is it posible to have both versions at the same time?

Well - it seems there are more troubles than anticipated. At first Xtended would arrive at the end of december 2011. Then it would be somewhere in januari, and now it seems they could not "reach" the end of februari..
Tension is growing here and aticipation also. It is becoming unbearable... Things rollig through the hollow caves of the tortured mind.... Will the "bugs" eat the expansion entirely? Will there be something recognisable left? Will the expansion be entirely pulled into the "twilight zone" and never been seen again (exept in an alternate universe where everyone is blue). Will the expansion be ready before everything goes nova and the long awaited Rebirth pops up? Ahhhrrggghhhh?
Just making fun guy's
.
Take your time and lots of sucess with stamping out those nasty "last day's" bugs. I am really looking forward to 2.0..
