lacking gamestart means that you have a faulty install. Try to install again in the right steps (and make sure you use the correct folders) The dx diag is not of much use here, only if you have stability problems with the game ;)

look for a new folder on your pc somewhere other than the usual , it took me a while to realise the defult install was not where the game was on my pc :oops: reinstall checking your path settings are the same as the tc folder on your pc.

Er... got a problem here.


Extended says it's running 1.1.

It should be running 1.2a...

Any idea?


EDIT: Fixed. No idea what happened there...

Anyway, I also wish to get in contact with whoever did the scripting regarding the game starts. I can see that there's a script run on gamestart load to do some specific setup stuff and which to discuss how to handle this in relation to creating my own gamestarts.


EDIT2: It isn't fixed anyway.

EDIT3: Resolved now, just me being an idiot as per usual. My other question still stands.

i am getting a nice arora rentry burn across my nose on seta is this normal, i used to get a very small one now its back the whole of my veiw, i assume its my graphics card strugerling

I'm still concerned that I'm functioning incorrectly... does the Artificial Life plugin menu usually list all the plugin parts of XTended...? Because it isn't. Should version 1.2a say 1.2a or just 1.2... because it is... I can put the repair laser on on easy, but it won't actually appear in my spacesuit... etc.

yes its a normal seta bug. Was also in vanilla, just not so noticeable as the engine smoke was grey/black instead of bright colorfull.

Well I'm doing a reinstall to fix it, but my network's grinding slowly at the moment... but it's ok, because I can do it without downloading anything!

Install TC
1.0.1 -> 2.6 update
2.6 -> 2.7 update
2.7 -> 3.0 update
Install XTC 1.1
+1 to 13+ CAT/DAT numbers
3.0 -> 3.1 update
XTC 1.1 -> 1.2a update
1.2a hotfix


All those were lurking on my machine, saves me from downloading a thing, and is possibly the strangest (and most incorrect...) definiton of "clean install" in the universe. :D


EDIT: Seems windows 7's stupid "compatability files" thing was causing problems. XTC is working clean without any of my junk now, but I've still got a distinct lack of repair laser on easy, the AL Plugin menu is locked (empty) even with Thereshallbewings, the plugins are obviously working though because, for example, ship explosion shockwaves are there. Something's definitely not right in the script area... o_O

Hmm, lasertowers are unshielded. They have a 125 built in and can hold one but it isn't working. Is this the previous issue mentioned that was fixed? If so then I have a worrying feeling that I'm definitely not fixed, I think the scripts are working but the mod cat/dats are out. Can anyone running a "pure" 1.2a on TC 3.1 confirm that the files are like this? (check sizes) Thanks in advance.

As it was acting like this before I reinstalled, I'm pretty sure it's the instructions which are dodgy (relating to changing the numbers of the files before installing 3.1 or whatever)

Ok, after another totally fresh install (and this time an understandable one with the least number of patches needed all nicely freshly redownloaded) and I can confirm now that...


Lasertowers still have no shields.
My game is still refusing to show the AL Plugins int he menu as it should.
Yes R6 menu, emergency jump command, ship claiming fix, etc. are all there.
It tells me I get a repair laser on easy but I don't actually.

Is something still totally botched, or is there a simple explanation?


EDIT: Totally botched would be my guess.

None of the plugin.XTC.AL.number.whatever scripts actually run, as far as I can see. If I reinit script caches, or manually run the setup script, they all kick in to life and are listing in AL Plugin menu all of a sudden, but with the script name, not the nice string name, until I attempt alter them. What's also quite worrying is it says XTC.AL.00.Main is "No", and I can't change it. Surely that shouldn't be on? Surely it's just running the same script on start up as when I tell it to so there should be no difference anyway? And most of all, surely there can't be the same issue after 3 installs, one an install of XTC onto a bit of a grubby TC, then a badly done "Clean" install, then a full clean download and install of BOTH.

There're no other modifications on that install, no other scripts running, no mods turned on, etc. etc.

What the frakk is going on here!?

Well, maybe I could have remembered that you have to save and load to get the AL options working... ¬¬

If i was you id go back and grab the full 1.2a download.

Patch up X3:TC to 3.1.1
then install the full 1.2a xtc. then put on the 1.2a hotfix on top of that.. this is they way i did it and all is golden.

If you are doing the partial way it gets kinda convoluted with the x3:TC upgrades between XTC upgrades(changing cat numbers and whatnot).

That's the point, I now HAVE done that. Can you test to see if lasertowers in your universe have shields, and if you get a repair laser on easy?

Oh god, just saved an loaded again and repair laser works, etc. etc.

It ALL needed to be reloaded.

I just spent a DAY trying to fix this. A DAY.

At least they can be happy in the knowledge that with most mods you'd give up after 20 minutes. :D

hehe i love my laser towers.. i scour the universe for them all, build laser tower facts.. plug the trade lanes with 100s of "Ring of Fire" laser towers circles and watch them wreck house.. hated when they forgot to have shields on them i had went in and put shields back in myself, but they put out a patch for it.

My only beef now is in XTC the ships no longer come out of the Rings. Incoming ships get placed around the jumpring in a spot not filled yet, so makes it harder to have my ambush's happen.

Hello everybody - at last I have some time to play Xtended X3TC, so I have a few questions:
1) Is player shipyard/HQ obligatory for ship painting or can I paint my ship somewhere in the universe?
2) Is ship repair available only in shypyards (for insane amount of money) or can I obtain repair laser somewhere?
3) Are 6 race specific game starts balanced? I find it somewhat strange to have Argon (easy) starting with one barely equipped M4 and 100 credits, while Terran (easy as well) starts with highly equipped M7 and highly equipped M5... Are there any differences in this starts (for example plot like)?
4) Is it normal that I rarely see any quests available? In Vanilla every sector had 2-3 quests available most of time, while here it's hard to find any (but to be honest I just tested few starting locations)...
5) Is there anywhere Xtended X3TC guide similar to x3tc.ru for vanilla? I'd like to check available ships, it's properties, new quest types and so on...
6) Are Xenon ships and Khaak ships bordable? And most important - are there any way to copy this ships and their weapons?
7) How factory connecting works now? Are there FPS-destroyer-connection-tubes still around here?
8) Are there any longer plots (like vanilla operation final fury for example)?
9) How ship pathing works now? Is there any sense of making fighter squadrons or they are suicide-junk as in vanilla (crashing into each other and most likely into anything)?
