On one hand, I'm dissapointed: I was looking forward to playing XR in the holidays, since it will be the only freetime I'll have. Now I'll have to wait for summer...

On the other hand, that'll give time for prices to drop and I could buy my new PC for it a few dollars cheaper.

Just in time for the end of the world. It looks like the US will, maybe, see the game in 2013 if ever. I wish i understood why one of the larger gaming markets is always neglected by Egosoft during the primary release of it's games.

If I remember rightly the US was a few months behind when TC was released, so you may see it for the summer. :D

Umm....It was released in the US the same day as europe? Or are you just counting obsolete boxed copies?

because its a European developer and a European publisher.
both of who are small and dont have much of a presence in the US.

i wish i understood why people from the US think everything should be released there first.

we have to wait ages after the US for other things

The simple answer is habit, I'm afraid. But that little post-war fact is changing rapidly and its pace shows no hint of lessening. America ain't America any more. Rather like its parent, the Sun Never Sets, if something cannot go on forever, it will stop.

Pretty sure it was delayed, remember US forum members complaining that they couldn't get it. It maybe because Deepsilver don't distribute in the states and had to get another publisher to sell it for them.

It was delayed one month for everybody, if I'm remembering right, due to factors well outside ES's control. I Have vivid memories of DLing the game from steam while watching the presidential election returns and it had been out for at least a week at that point.

Now boxed copies where hard to find in the states. Superbox never even showed up on a retail shelf for me.

It was a bit of a shenanigan really. The US's publisher - Englight - ran into a trouple with the disk printing company so the game couldn't be shipped on time. They were kind enough to contact DeepSilver to arrange for a small shipment imported via GoGamer, and that hit another snag at custom (they think it's an anthrax package or something) and got hold up for another few days.

It's just the "home field" mentality when peopl talk about thing like this really, and it's not the US, you European is the same. For once, you get Xenoblade, we don't :p

Well I have TWO copies of X2: The Threat - one my English Pre-Order (direct from Egosoft) that got delayed by THREE MONTHS at the last minute leading me import a US copy! I'd been guaranteed to get my game "on the day of release" - so posted the day before in effect - when paying full RRP to order it here. Unfortunately they Eurpose "day of release" was pushed back quite substantially. Ironically my US copy (which I got a couple of days later) was cheaper...

This was a PUBLISHER decision, not Egosoft, and unfortunately just one of those things...I can't recall the reasoning behind it now.

I don't think anyone wants to see that happen again.

Let's hope we all get the game at the same time :)

Sadly these days nothing usually goes to plan. I only JUST got my copy of TC on the day of release because I phoned up to find out they had forgotton to process my order. :o Lucky I phoned up or I would have had to wait until the next week. Lets hope things go according to plan with XR. :)

Like the States doesnt get most other things before everyone else. Europe is a bigger market than the states easily. The world doesnt end at the eastern seaboard you know.

I seem to recall that the US version of X2 was released long before the Euro version. Since it required rather a lot of patching, there were mutters of "paying to beta test for Europe".

Of course, this is back in the dim and distant past so I might be getting details wrong. (like, say, all of it)

Even large publishers tend to release at different times, mainly because the US game chart starts on Wednesday and the UK one on a Friday; either that or Euro versions - even for the UK! - take longer because of additional translation work.

You can't really describe that as a "Wednesday/Friday" affair.

I remember it. It's because Enlight just went ahead and release the Gold copy of X2 in the US, while DeepSilver did not want to release a rather buggy (in their opinion) game. In deed the first version of X2 is barely playable. It wasn't until a few month later that the game can be played smoothly.

X3TC, on the other hand, is released about the same time for US and Euro markets, thanks to Steam. That's why I got both versions, the Steam version on release day, and the hard copy via mail from Ego 2 weeks later. (The delay was due to Ego shipping via snail mail).

As for X3r, I got it from Gogamer (RIP).
