O.K. So when AI can do it (yes, they have a basic script from Egosoft) it is o.k., but when I want to do it, it is wrong? Regarding Tyr, it worked just fine in Xtended Reunion, it is a problem of Egosoft that they gave Tyr wrong cargo values.

well i did not know about the ai script so ou may have a point, and yeah the tyr is messed up also.

i just see alot of posts that go something like ....

"i demand! or i wont play" and it gets tiresome.
I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

You can never make everyone happy all the time, that's a FACT.

Tiresome is when.... people complian how it was not done right the first time, Yet they can not do it themselves!

I can not write a game by myself, so I am very happy to play a 1-3% broken game/bug and atleast PLAY while a fix can come out later.

The only reason i ever used mars is due to horrible turret coverage on the larger ships. Realistically a capital ship should be bristling with weapons that have overlapping fields all over it. MARs did a great job of killing missiles and smaller ships making it suicide for a small ship to engage a larger ship which is proper.

I dont get why the vanilla AMS is so crap though--watching my rear turret struggle to defeat a missile going 5 m/s faster then me for nearly 40 seconds baffles me because MARs once defeated 20 missiles with that same rear turret during an engagement.

Ahh that is why people like MARs, IMHO I think the devs tried to balance the game guns to missles to ships to manuvers to speed etc.....

"due to horrible turret coverage " I would agree 8 guns in front ALL shooting at ONLY one target, why can there be 4 command per pairs of gun turrets in the front. I kind of agree to a point that they are not independent of each other. They should not call them guns but TURRETS

Front T1 x 2 guns (select commands)
Front T2 x 2 guns (select commands)
Front T3 x 2 guns (select commands)
Front T4 x 2 guns (select commands)

I would make T2&3 battle turrents and T1&4 light defense
But...

I would agree that 40 secs trying to shoot a missle down that is 5 m/s faster. But would not the speed of such large turrents to move and track a target take some time. I have been on many naval ships during exerises and those guns are slow moving.
However the R2D2 palanxs can track objects less than 2" big, seen it blow chain links off a tow chain knocking link by link toward the aircarft which pulled the drone.

But getting back to say LARGE SLOW moving turrents of a LARGE SHIP. to make say guns move and track missles quicker, that gives an advantage of that BATTLE ship over M6 and fighters, that is why they have large shields to take a beating for a while.
IMHO I think that really unbalances the game giving a BATTLE ship, the agility of a Fleet escort FAST attack Frigate.

I am happy with Missle defence system, have you even tried that? it comes with XTC. But the concept of MARs does make sense, but does it give too much wieght where it really would be the job of a missle frigate, or fighters to take out incoming missles, or use missle defense system settings.

Can anyone who patched from 1.1 straight to 1.2a confirm that it worked? I just can't seem to get it to take.

The installer can tell I'm at 1.1 rather than 1.2, and will tell me its patched to 1.2a, but when I load up the game it still says 1.1r across the bottom of the screen, and at the top the configuration menu. Also, if I go back to the patcher, it still says 1.1.

BTW, whoever designed the Megalodon deserves cookies. That ship is gorgeous (I actually have started saving up the 240-odd million required to buy one just because of the way it looks). :D

But in WW2, have you seen a battleship firing against enemy figters from main 350mm or 406mm guns? No, they had all variety of guns from huge ones to small 20mm ones. The lack of this in X has to be solved differently, hence MARS. I really do not find it funny when you can kill M7, even M2 using just a M3+ fighter. It is anything, but realistic. And as I already mentioned AI CAN switch weapons. Do not you find it stupid, that AI can and you can not?

Well I do not demand anything. But the other one is true. Would you run a car, which can use only 2 gears out of 5? Sure, it will drive, slowly, but drive. Or would you drive a car which can use all 5 gears and even the reverse? I bet then you would also state, that you will never run a car which can use only two gears :-)

Yes, it worked, just do not forget to rename dats and cats and as mentined, the install path. For some reason the patch has a different one than the original installer.

1.2 works great, but MARS definitely doesn't work with it at the moment.

Restored a 3.1 backup, installed 1.2 over it and no problems whatsoever.
Loaded up, played a few minutes, then saved at a station.

Quit, installed MARS, activated it and tried to load the savegame, game crashed.

Toggled mars off in the launch menu to be sure, reloaded and it works fine again.

Toggled mars on again, relaunched and tried a new game. Interestingly, it does load but with some strange bugs....cockpit on the elite looks weirdly inverted and PACS are sitting in freight and won't load in the weapon slots.

Looks like no MARS for now, but I'll be giving 1.2 it's paces anyway.

Upon further investigation...the next time I loaded the savegame discussed earlier...with MARS disabled in the launch menu, the MARS installation screen popped up and stated that it was installed and that X-Tended was detected.

Oddly, so far I see the mars menu items are indeed available and the software listed at a military base i just passed. Soon as I have the cash worked up I'll test it out and see if my computer explodes appropriately.

I am a new player so pls understand the technical problems in my brain xD

pls answer the following in few words xD. Each carry a reward of 10 credits !!

1. Can I install Improved Races - Chaos Edition-V1.09-25.6.2011.spk with X-tended?

2. I was about to ask about MARS compatibility with X-tended mod but after reading last post, I changed my mind.. but some general info about whether i should install it or not will be highly appreciated xD

Welp totally forgot the rename the CAT/DATs but i installed the patch fix(which said 1.1 but i figured it was a typo) do i still need to rename the CAT/DATs since it says (1.1) next to the commands?
