Help: Cockpit Lasers listed as "Missles" in game

Post by Vanquistador »

Hello everyone,

I've downloaded dozens of xsp ship files to try and find the "perfect" ship that I'd like to fly around in. What I've found out is that 95%+ of the ships that I download describe laser turrets in the main cockpit, but upon entering the game, the "8 cockpit lasers" are labeled as "missiles" and I'm unable to install any lasers in them.

I heard that I could edit this data with the X3 editor but all the download links seem to be down. I've tried editing tons of ships with Cycrow's package creator, and this has proved pretty useful. (I can add guns to turrets and edit ship data, which is awesome) but I still can't figure out how to turn the 8 missile cockpit "lasers" from missiles to actually lasers like they should be.

Could someone please point me in the right direction with this?

Thank you[/i]

You must be referring to Xtra Pack's Falcion... That's a M3B, a BOMBER. It has no lasers, spare the turret at the back for protection. The eight missile slots are meant as bomb-beys, meaning the ship can fire eight Phantoms at once...
To each, his own.

Some ships come with missile launcher bays as main weapon arrays. However if the cockpit has no compatible weapons defined in TCockpits.pck(Refer to TShips.pck and the ships individual entry for main gun arrays.)the weapons will be set to missiles.

All turrets' gun compatibility list can be found under the TCockpits.pck.In the TShips.pck entry of that ship, you can also change cockpits of all turrets to suit your needs. If you set all cockpits to COCKPIT_DEFAULT your ship will be able to equip main guns on all turrets.Or will have all it's turrets turned into missile launcher arrays if main weapons has no compatible weapons defined.

Also get the X Editor 2.It'll make your editing much easier.

getting the latest beta of the plugin manager should fix that

otherwise, u can manually convert each one.

as it uses seperate weapons for X3R and TC, all old XSP default to X3R guns so have nothing defined for TC

the latest beta fixes this thou

It's happening to all ships, M3s, M4s, M5s, M6s alike.

Thank you for your help-I've tried downloading the X Editor 2 but the download links for US seem to be broken. I downloaded the other version but upon install it won't run due to a missing .dll file (even though the .dll file is clearly there). I read that I'd have to disable UAC and do a couple things which I know how to do, I just haven't tried them yet. I'll be sure to do so in the near future.

Awesome, that is great to hear Cycrow. I'll make sure I download the beta plugin manager as soon as I get off work then.

Thank you all for your help.
