Multi-core can chew anything, assuming the design works well with multi-cores (concurrency, synchronization, etc). If one core (or more) is dedicated to in-sector computation (collision detection, IS-AI, etc), and the rest of the cores (or the remaining core) takes care of OOS computation (OOS-AI, and anything else I might have forgotten (e.g. race war tactics?)).
Since (I assume) IS and OOS data don't greatly impact on each other, this set up might work (assuming an X3-style implementation).
Also, I'm going to have to upgrade my computer's RAM, which might mean upgrading my motherboard, which might mean upgrading my CPU...
Well I think ego will be using more and more xml style 'programming'. Im not much a fan of xml programming, as its not as straight forward and must be slower than writing 'normal' code.
Id like to see the xml ditched for a txt type language, it could be loosely based on C, php etc. This would make editing scripts much easier than having to use the in-game editor or a xml based tool and probably faster too. Although im pretty sure ego are doing more and more xml.
The types/ files are fine, although ego could try to make them less confusing. Why have a steer, pitch and roll adjustments when they are not used, but just one control 'turn speed'. Prices etc. could be real prices, rather than times them by 48.
I also hope ego make the exe more informative, atm X3/TC simply crash without no warning/information. If it said: "Texture 'dds/ship_35_argon.dds' was the in-correct size, please adjust to 512 x 512" then it would be much easier to fix.
The last thing id like to see is some improvements to memory management.

I see something similar...
Top set of photos:
Top left - "Solar City"
Top right - pass... too low res to see really
Bottom left- "something Observation Outpost"
Bottom right - low res again.
Bottom set of photos:
Top left - "Asteroid Research Outpost"
Top right - pass... too low res to see really again
Bottom left- "Space Refinery"
Bottom right - "something Space Water Collector".
Interesting things... but WTB higher resolution camera!
Unless I've missed something - which is possible - there's no definitive statement on whether TNBT will have both 32 and 64 bit executables nor whether it will support multi-core CPUs, so until the official announcement, I and I'm sure others, are in limbo as to what to upgrade.
There's always the iMac version to look forward to though , I've just bought TC for the Mac and installing it right now so I'll see how good it is on the 27" monitor - yes, size is everything!

Considering This one is from Terran Conflict, and contains atmosphere etc... I'm not sure how much can be deduced from them...
There are at least a couple in that link though, so it's possible it's more than just something out of a trailer... but we can't really tell at the moment.

I think the Bottom right is Deep Space Water Collector.
And the Bottom left of the top set I think is Surface Observation Outpost.
I'm having trouble working out the rest. I'll keep looking.
[Edit]: Top right of the bottom set may say Low Orbit something

I may be suffering from a false memory, but I could have sworn In the latest X-Universe News, Alex's computer screen originally had a different image than the one it now has (Seasons Greeting). Seems to me his screen had an alien landscape image. I wonder if they changed the pic after the fact because it too closely depicted artwork for TNBT? Or, perhaps I'm thinking of some other picture of Alex somewhere else?
I've long awiated the next Space Sim to come out for the PC. I do hope this one incorperates a multieplayer space battle option and Fully destructable ships in real time.
The skunk really is a bare bones model. It doesn't even have a GPS to highlight the way. Or targeting software MK 2 to allow target selection and painting from the sector map. It lacks a Trading System Extention to show prices in the sector you are in. The lack of satellites in rebirth is also annoying to the trader/pirate looking for a mark.

very interesting, arhh would love to sit in low orbit over a planet raining down firestorms and hammer heads, razing the surface and truly claiming a sector ,conjuors memorys of freelancers opening scene and starship troopers taking the bug planet.

I guess that's fair enough. It'd be nice if scripting for the new game was human-writeable in a text file rather than XML-based - I guess the XML approach is easier to implement or something.
Notice both appear to be the exact same shot - except with major differences:
1. Computer monitor in X-Universe News has "Seasons Greetings" instead of "covered up" alien landscape.
2. Drawings on the wall are blurred in X-Universe News.
Very odd!!
Are those wall illustrations deliberately "doctored" so we wouldn't see them? Is that alien landscape covered up for the same reason? If so, are they hiding TNBT hints from their rabid fans? [ external image ]
