Yes, I am stationed between and to the rear of my two Arans parked next to each other at my PHQ, with a fine view of the yellow pannels. Bye for now!

No Go!
Nice picture Alan, unfortunately my Arans stripes remain stubbornly yellow. I was wondering does one have to switch something on in the PHQ's settings to get it to work?

EDIT: The above setting is "Shader Quality" = "High".

David Howland, I have the same problem, tried making my ships a bright green, but nothing happened? I wonder if it has something to do with the start screen config. I have all my settings low inorder to get TC to response becuase the engine works so hard on handling all the ships in my game.
How about it Alan, could the general settings of the graphgic card have much play on the spray both options?

David & Mangar, it may be egg-on-face time for me. I just did a test Aran respray at the PHQ and I do have my graphics/shaders settings on max; I could not get the light panels to recolour but just subtle hull panel changes, much as you found. The pink Aran picture was from putting those hue and saturation values into Exogenesis' XModels3DViewer for the Aran. I thought that the Viewer results reflected the in-game PHQ results but obviously I was mistaken. I will let Exogenesis know. Sorry David, I cannot help you to customise your Aran paintjob that much.

Ok I was not sure either, I tried 5 ships, all had the gray metal look, Tried light green, light blue, Yellow, red, and the ship was still 99.99999% metal gray and ONLY when the light from a sun reflected agaisnt the ship would a 0.0001% glimmer of the color would mist a hint of the chosssen color.
So then I don't know what i is either, I even upped my graphics settings to max and did not see much change eithe?

YET AGAIN THANK YOU EVERYONE! At least I know where I stand and that the whole thing was not down to my incompetence. I have again been amazed at the amount of, on the hoof, research you all have been willing to put in on this, during this afternoon. It happens to be my birthday today and this effort you have all put in has been a great present.

Indeed, Happy Birthday. Also, be sure to be using the 'k' camera from advanced Sats when searching for Arans. I found mine -40km off screen with it. From the cockpit, it looked just like background stars.

Kestrals?
Thanks for the birthday wishes guys.
Yes Triaxx2, the first thing I do on arrival, unless subject to immediate attack, is drop the first adv. sat. and I spend the largest part of my time in a search sector in K view. I do now take a squad of six kestrals to search the sector, as posts in other threads have recomended this technique. I have two questions on this:
1. Does anyone know if the Aran can be revealed by hunting kestrels?
2. In my first sector search using kestrels I lost 2, crash landing into Seeker Aran. Is there any way to make the Kestrals land safely? Knowing how many sectors one might have to search this could cost a lot of Kestrels, might even be tempted to switch to Disco.s?

As the target Aran doesn't show up normally on the map or scanner, I don't really see how any ship other than the Player can find it by itself. However, I think you can use the remote ship location as a basis to move the viewpoint centre of the advanced satellite coverage with the camera. (And also do tricks with target view key and zoom etc.)
For safe Kestrel recovery, move it/them to a position near the Aran, transport over to the Kestrel, dock with the Docking Computer, and you are back in the Aran. Repeat as necessary.

If you install Lucike's computer update it'll cause the Aran to register, unless you're staying vanilla.
I do use it, and CODEA, with the Recon wing from CODEA, which allows for combat docking, where they close within 5km and are then transporter deviced aboard. It's less hazardous to their health, and easier on my nerves. Then I drop a sat in addition to them.
