That's very odd. Losing 200MJ of shielding in 10 seconds is quite an achievement. Losing 400MJ is even more of an achievement. I don't know what advice to give you, I'm afraid. Just keep trying until you manage to get out in time.
And yes, M3s will spawn close to the CPU ship. They should fly over to the station from there. This makes getting in and out quickly important; the longer you leave it, the more enemies are swarming the station when you want to leave.

I'm having a problem where I've gotten to the section of "A New Home" titled "Running the Guantlet", I've spoken to the human guy in the station for the second time, he said "we'll conference call now" and nothing happens.
I gave it five minutes, docked.
Nothing.
I went off and did the next part of a different quest and came back to the area, still nothing.
Any ideas what I can do?

I have no idea which bit 'Running the Gauntlet' is, I'm afraid, so can't help you until you elaborate.
But generically, if a problem of this nature occurs a reload to a point before the previous trigger fixes the issue.

Thanks for the guide! I just finished the New Home plot and got my very own sector /brag
Your guide helped me immensely, thanks for writing it, really good job! Everything worked like charm, no bugs at all! I have some feedback though:
- Might worth EMPHASIZING the fact, that when the first UFJD section comes (trade station rescue), they shouldn't enter Freedom's Reach, at all! Not by entering the gate and not by regular jumpdrive! And that they must be sitting in a TM with at least one fighter docked into it. I saw many people run into this problem and truth to be told, the mission description isn't very clear on this one. The UFJD should be used outside of Freedom's Reach, like from Dana's Chance! If they enter Freedom's Reach by any other means other than the random UFJD from another sector, they'll get the point-jumping fighter swarms, and no amount of UFJDing from inside the sector will change that.
- The Trading Station in the rescue mission is invulnerable, I can confirm that, it's health never drops below 93% even under continued fire.

Great, glad to be of service! Here's some more, not so critical feedback, just in case:
- The docked fighter for the TM doesn't really need to be a M3+. I docked 3 Nova Vanguards, and they are just regular M3-s AFAIK. A friend of mine used different fighters so it might not even be required to be a M3, any fighter would do (M5-M4-M3). Besides, the mission won't advance until dock a fighter anyway.
- The mission destination in Aldrin might be random. The first station with the blue book was almost right near the jump beacon where I entered Aldrin (well, near-ish, 150km, but on this side of the huge rock not the other side). The second blue book station wasn't too far either, another 200-ish km from the first, so I didn't even had to circumnavigate that hugeass rock. Also, I don't know about Trans-Orbital Accelerators. I think they are added in the Aldrin Missions, and since the New Home can be done BEFORE the Aldrin Mission, those might not even be there when someone does New Home. At least I haven't seen any.
- for the very last part of the plot, when you need to pick up the saboteur and bring the Teladi back to it's station, it might worth mentioning they need a ship with CLS that can actually dock to stations. I had to reload two times because at first I made the saboteur roadkill by not having CLS on board and second I had to backtrack, call in another ship and transfer the dude over because I was sitting in my Griffon that can't dock to stations so I couldn't drop the Teladi off. It's easy to run into these blunder IMHO.
- one last weird thing: When I approached #efaa in the no-jumpdrive UFJD sector, when she commed me, Betty gone off the deep end and started talking random garbage, like credits recieved, shields critical, docking granted and that this is a pirated copy of X3 (which it isn't, obviously) and all sorts of random BS. I got really worried there for a sec that my game got borked, but she shut up once I finished talking to #efaa. Anyone else experienced this?
Hope that helps a little bit

I have this odd problem with this Plot
Right at Start when i recieve the message it tells me to fly to dannas chance to see or follow the #deca ship
When i jump into the system nothing changes nothing happens i see a huge ship with tons of fighters around it
When i try to approach it, it randomly spawns 6-7 fighters around my ship every 30 Seconds or so , at some point i looked at the map and there were 3-4 pages of random #deca fighters
Anyway
As it was said in this guide that "deca" must jump into Freedoms Reach when the player is in Dannas Chance, well the problem is that it doesnt
Any ideas?
( I do have a Modified Game so i will go ask in S&M forums aswell but still , trying my luck here first )

HELP!!!
I managed to get through the first 3 sections of this plot really easily, met up with #eefa and waited for the jump calibration to complete. Once we'd hit FR again, I head off to meet #cafe and prepare for the firewall hack attempt.
My problem: Terraformer ships belonging to #cafe spawn right on top of me, busting up my Spitfyre in no time (doesn't matter how fast or slow I might be moving, even when I'm using the Turbo Booster and attempting to "dodge" spawning ships). There are something like 50+ Terraformer fighters in the sector already, then #cafe spawns another 20 odd every few seconds and right in my flight path.
Sitting still long enough to crack any part of the firewall hack is impossible as the spawned fighters can 1-2 shot kill me (spawning on top of me kills my shield and then they fire PM/AM warheads which cripples my hull). Am I supposed to fight through this whole fleet before I can finish this mission?
I'm very very tempted to buy a Cerberus, fit it with as much flak as possible and try again, but I don't think it will make any difference.
I'm running 3.0 vanilla with the bonus pack, no mods, no scripts, no cheats and my combat rank is Militant.
I'm a bit gutted to be honest, I was really enjoying this plot but now I'm just facing frustration.

That's really weird.
You shouldn't be nearly close enough to #cafe for fighters to be able to spot you in their sensors, let alone spawning on top of you. How close are you?

It starts once I get within 20km, but it seems I have to fly within ~8km to get the firewall hack to begin. Btw, thanks Spike, both for the guide and the quick reply
On a side note, you mention in the guide that if you get beyond comm range "you'll hate yourself" Does this break the plot in some way?

No, it just resets the puzzle, meaning you have to start over again.
8km is too close. You should get the comms opening within 25 km of #cafe, maybe a little closer. Do not go within 18km. If the hack fails to initialise automatically, open a comms channel yourself. If that doesn't work, fly away and approach again. If that doesn't work, reload a save from before you entered Freedom's Reach.

Great, sudoku solved but doesn't continue to the password. Guess I'll have to start over... AGAIN
Damn, how I hate this GUI sometimes.
I don't understand this game or...?
[ external image ]
May I suggest a little warning about flying to the ship debris? Hadn't I used external camera on it to see it I would have crashed! D: Besides that, thanks a lot of the guide.

a perfect case of why devs should NEVER use player ideas for in game mini games.
sodoku players think everyone plays, which just isnt true.
i guess a dev plays it,
so its crowbarred into the game to frustrate 99% of the people playing the game.
i didnt solve it,an online solver did it,i just wrote down the numbers, even that was a lesson in frustration,
pc games are entertainment,NOT a means to frustrate people.

In the opening play of X-BTF, Kyle Brennan activates the X-Shuttle's jumpdrive and a malfunction disables every system on the ship and damages the jumpdrive beyond repair whilst dumping him right in front of the flagship Teladi Phoenix patrolling in Seizewell. He is stuck in the X-Universe for decades before the gate to Earth is opened in Reunion.
I got momentary visions of being stuck in that unknown sector with #efaa for thirty years the first time I played this plot through!
