Nice guide Spychotic, thank you. The messages on my log said absolutely nothing about "appending" the two passwords together.

"...needs to transmit its code and the code of the command unit #efaa to the mainframe of #cafe to unlock it"

Just like those ambiguous and near useless Treasure Hunt so-called 'clues', it can mean any number of things unless you can read this author's mind. The correct answer could be anything from one password followed immediately by the second, or one password followed by a space then the second, or one password followed by a comma then the second, or maybe its a comma and a space between both passwords, or one password then hit enter and then the second, or a dozen other possiblities.

The master mind game and sudoko were fun. They were logical and did not require reading the mind of some author who writes "clues" that could mean who knows what.

#cafe firewall

Post by DexSK »

hi guys...I got a little problem here, wondering how many times do I have to reload the mission from the point prior to the UFJD jumps, to get that firewall cracking window open? done three times now, I've no clue what else might be the problem, as I've checked the spoilers in this guide and I've apparently left nothing out. seems like a bug to me... :(

Some people have had problems with that.

The conditions for opening it are being within 25km and I think that you can comm the #cafe in order to open it if you close it for some reason.

It has been known to not open; if this happens, restarting from the #efaa's unknown sector might work but restarting from before the UFJDs definitely should. If it doesn't then post in Tech Support (on the condition that you're unmodded).

Hello--

I appreciate the help from this walkthrough. I am currently in Aldrin looking for the Boron, but, cannot find him anywhere. There are only five stations in Aldrin (in my game) only one of which is a shipyard (though another is an Unknown/equip-dock it appears). Your post mentions TOA, but there are none in my version of Aldrin. So, should I have waited to complete the Aldrin Expansion missions before starting this (I haven't completed the HUB yet--still working on ore)? Or, do I just need to spend a couple of hours searching the whole sector (it is a huge sector)?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Since you can complete the plots in any order, it should work.

Hmmmm....

... Here is what I suggest. First, leave the sector, get some fast ships with Nav Command, jumpdrives and Triplex scanners that can make it to Aldrin and send them mapping the sector for about 300km from the centre. It'll take a couple of game hours for them to get it done. If you use three and set one on the ecliptic (Y-co-ordinate = 0) and one 20km above and the other 20km below the ecliptic (again by adjusting Y-co-ordinate) then the sweep is better. That should show you the rest of the stations; I can pretty much guarantee that you've only found about a third of the ones that are there. Here is a list of the stations that should be there.

Once that's done, return and look through the stations for one with a book symbol. That's the one you want.

Spike.

hi thanks for the post has helped me a lot however im stuck im getting trough the sudoku problem but when im to enter the reset password i have tryed typing this one.

USCWintersalpha_omegaUSCMarteen_earth_plus.omega

i have tried writing it with the first 4 letters big like it is shown here (both usc words in big+ first letter after that). i have tried writing them small i have tried both passw. by themself. each time after 5 tries i get the message "firewall is back up" and i have to do the whole ting over again. have tried it 20 times now. each time starting over and getting to the passw.

what am i doing wrong? i have no scripts installed and have 2.7 installed.

only thing i can think of is in the msg i get allong with the second code it says this.
if mouse flight mode is active it needs to be disabled.
is this relevant for the game? i dont know how to turn that off.
Please help me.
a detail description of what i must type in would be nice, or an explenation to what i am doing wrong, have read trough most of the posts about these topics and havent found anyone with this problem.

If it says that mouse flight mode is active and needs to be turned off, then it's probably relevant. Bit odd though.

I think that the control for it is in the Controls menu. Hunt around a bit.

*edit; Controls -> Game -> Toggle cursor flight mode, it's right at the top.

He sends a message telling you to return. You then pay lots of money and have to find another guy somewhere random.
