Cheers for the patch ES, any of you lot sick of pizza yet!?!
I'm not experienced enough using the mission director to explain properly, but minor changes to mission code can have dramatic effects to how well a mission works. The changelog does mention several minor plot fixes, lets just hope Mahi Ma is one of them. Once my turn in the SMP game is over I'll be having a look to see if I can find exactly what has been changed.
I've moaned enough about boarding (and I haven't got a leg to stand on moaning while ES are working on what was my highest priority problem with the game before the changes to boarding were made...and I moaned about that for long enough.)sleepy_head wrote: Reading the release notes it doesn't seem like they fixed the problem with boarding? Or of Mahi Ma stuck in the station breaking the Hub campaign unless you blow up the station?

Has anyone had a chance to check out the terran sectors to see if the factories are better supported?
Considering this version of X3 is titled TC and a focal point of the game is the introduction terran sectors, with terran defender game start and such, I was really dissapointed with how my game had no starburst factories at all. Non in stock in terran sectors... And the turrets of the M1 / M2 ships could have done with a bit of a tweak too.
edit, add: Oh, and thanks again Egosoft - as usual your efforts and support for the game is top of the well.

From what little I've played of the patch terran sectors are unchanged. Great for me since I'm pretty much the terran's only reliable source of MREs and base food products.ThommoHawk wrote:Has anyone had a chance to check out the terran sectors to see if the factories are better supported?
The game will replace deleted stations, but it may take some time.

There is some planetary supply for Terran sectors, although I've no idea how effective it is.Kor'ah wrote:I'm pretty much the terran's only reliable source of MREs and base food products.
It might, or might not. GoD is X2 sagt Bussi auf BauchThe game will replace deleted stations, but it may take some time.

I played a lot x3:reunion (one of the best game I've played
)
I bought just yesterday x3 : TC (50% off promotion
)and and can not play in the moment, but this patch seems interessting.
I just want to say that the possibility of register the CD-game in steam is a great idea ! I don't think anybody has done it before but it's really usefull for players like me always switching computers
Egosoft is the best because after the game release they still work on their games with patches and stuff) so don't change anything, you rock !

Unfortunately, we can't take credit for that. List of games with retail key support.barnnabe6_1_9 wrote:I just want to say that the possibility of register the CD-game in steam is a great idea ! Isn't that kind of a catch twenty two?perkint wrote: Then why bother posting a comment? If you don't like what's being said, why read it?
How can you un-read it, if you don't like it?

Back on topic... My frame rate got a big increase. X3TC running in the background while I'm floating in Elysium of Light has my processor running at 60%. Speed being a single core 2.4GHz with 1G memory and NVidia 7800GS. It's one of the most noticeable improvements so far.
I would like to know more about what's changed from 2.5 though.

It's not and never has been. While it's a very slick system the volume is just not enough to support even a fraction the factories. A food complex up that way does wonders, and makes the original concept redundant.Carlo the Curious wrote:There is some planetary supply for Terran sectors, although I've no idea how effective it is.
Although given enough time it'll rebuild the station...Then delete it again....Then build it again. A vicious cycle it is.It might, or might not. GoD is X2 sagt Bussi auf Bauch.

One thing I'd like to add...
We as consumers always demand perfection from our software providers. Egosoft deserves one great round of applause for their work on the X3 series. They have done an outstanding job on giving us great games and have stood by their work and word on this great achievement. My hat's off congratulations Egosoft.
I say this with words that are not empty. If you want to know the OTHER end of the spectrum just take a look at the Silent Hunter Series from Ubisoft. Now that is a rotten to the core company. They put out a bug filled game and as soon as the game is patched up to "just barely runnable", they move on to their next game project. If it weren't for the modding community (that is not paid) to fix the games, they wouldn't even be playable for the first year. Silent Hunter 3 and 4 are good games but only because the modding community fixed them to be so. And even then, there are a few remaining bugs that annoy the hell out of us. But Ubisoft won't fix them.
Granted, X3TC started with a few bugs too. But no show stoppers that I remember. And they were very fast at getting patches out to fix those. The long delay since 2.5 is because 2.5 is pretty close to bug free. There were a few exploits that remained. And there are probably a few tiny things that remains in 2.6 but I'd bet Egosoft will work them out soon.
I just wish, Egosoft would make a submarine simulator and take that market away from Ubisoft. I know they'd do a stand up job with it. And it's something that needs to be done right and Egosoft is capable.
Edited: And I wanted to say above that our patches to X3TC now are more about adding more content more than fixes to bugs. That says a lot to me.

Regarding STEAM Achievements
To counter the recent confusion concerning the STEAM Achievements newly introduced with the X3: Terran Conflict patch 2.6, we'd like to quickly sum up some facts about them:
First and foremost - STEAM Achievements are only available for games played over STEAM. They are not available for normal installations. However, DVD users can now register their versions of the game with STEAM, allowing them to use the STEAM client and earn Achievements. Here is a FAQ entry how.
Furthermore your game must not be modified to earn achievements. After all, there would be little point to them if you could just cheat to get them.
Also, you will not get achievements for things you have already accomplished in your savegames before installing the patch. This was a design decision, not only for earning achievements but for a technical point of view. Achievements are checked when you do something to earn them. Plot achievements will only happen when you complete a plot. Rank achievements are only checked when you rank up.
We understand some people were hoping to load up their savegames and get half of the Achievements, but that's just not the way it is.
Lastly we'd like to remind you that all other features of the 2.6 patch are available for users that do not use STEAM as well. The only thing that is not available to users with only a normal installation are the achievements as those are a feature of STEAM.

I uninstalled my previous X3TC install and manually deleted all folders, then installed 2.5, upgraded to 2.6, installed the bonus pack solely-no other scripts/mods, and started a new game as Terra Defender. My Pilot Status says *modified* at the bottom. hmmmThe whole point about the Bonuspack is that it doesn't cause a modified.

Applause hell... they deserve $'s! Probably in the form of pre-ordering their next game. Of course, there is one more... formality that needs to be overcome: Egosoft needs to tell us what that game is. I hope this triviallity will be dispatched at Egosoft's earliest convenience. Like maybe right now.Egosoft deserves one great round of applause for their work on the X3 series.

Now let's not go crazy here. All I have to do is jump to the Ore Belt where my massive complex sits to see a pretty major bug. In fact, the only way out again is to kill the game with task manager. This is on a machine with an I7 980 and a GeForce 480.The long delay since 2.5 is because 2.5 is pretty close to bug free.

Thank You, Wondrous Creators of X
Successful update from 2.5 (patched 2.0 DVD) to 2.6.....
current save works fine...
No **modified** tag (disabled virus and spyware utilities (Avira & Counterspy)) prior to update....
Reset LAA flag (enable), no problems..
I have just updated, but i have two complexes (!2 & 8 stations) in Antigone Memorial and has been "tasked" when IS (not really choppy but lower FPS).
Popped in and noticed difference immediately...
Too soon to really say, but ES has a good record....
BTW, Please forward link for pre-order of TNBT....
I have NO PROBLEM ordering it, Sight Unseen......
Cannot say I would ever do that with ANY other Company...
Egosoft, you are the best....
Looking forward to TNBT. The possibilities boggle the mind...
KEEP IT UP!!! I want to give you more money!!!!
Cheers,
GF

So far under the 2.6 update I've only been in one sector where I have a complex. The frame rate is a blistering 2FPS when it's in my FOV. The frame rate goes back to something more normall (40ish) once I get that complex out of my FOV. Pretty sure the complex haveing 70 factories in it is the cause.
Now in M148 I have a slightly smaller 9 factory tomahawk complex. The place was pretty much a slide show in 2.1. Maybe with 2.6 it has improved enough to start takeing missions out of that sector.
