[X3TC]Good first station?

Post by Sp@c3Ch!mp »

Hi all,

I now have 1.6M cr in the bank account and am looking to buy myself a nice and not so expensive factory that can be placed in argon prime and that gives me a good return on my investment.
I was thinking an SPP but the prices have changed dramatically since X2 :(

If you have any suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it.

Wheat or an Ore Mine. Either should generate a (slow) return. Must admit, I bought myself successively larger Superfreighters to make my own credits though. Or Mosquito or another type of (cheap) missile factory. But you still need TS Class ships.

Wheat + rimes is quite good. you only need 1 freighter to supply it, and npcs will buy everything you produce at avg-1.

1MJ shields are good, but im not sure if 1.6 mill is enough, and you need 3 freigters to stock it... or CAG.

Just reviewed all your posts. Thx for all the info.
I think I will try to build a mosquito missile fab.

Mine only has two freighters supplying and none selling (its sold out within finishing 2 cycles)..I have a regular shipment of Ore from npcs and only had to buy the first load.

I began with a Wheat Farm in Argon Prime.

It was so profitable that my second fab was another Wheat Farm placed 4km from the first!

If you do put a mine anywhere, make sure it's L-sized, otherwise you're wasting the full potential of the asteroid. I started with a high-yield silicon asteroid in

Hi,

I usually start with an Ore Mine in Ore Belt, nice little earner to start with. I can usually sell at 200cr per unit of Ore, even with a fairly small jump range - I extend it as markets get saturated. I then add a silicon mine, maybe another ore mine.

As I can guarantee to sell Ore at 200cr for the most part I start buy up Ore @ 50cr from other Ore mines when they get full. Eventually the markets get a little saturated so I add in a Mosquito Fab, then 1mj Fab, then an IRE Fab...all sell at most Equipment docs. When I get to the point that Cahoona supply is a problem I attach a Cahoona Bakery, later a Cattle Ranch. All I ever buy in at this later stage are ECs so my profit is high.

In a current game I've added a crystal fab to use my excess Silicon as the market for that is somewhat saturated too - selling crystals at 1800cr and always sold out.

Note: I have my own ships selling for me - usually ones I've captured from Pirates or bought 2nd hand & upgraded accordingly.

Complexes aren't the big earners of Assasination, Transport, Build or other such missions when your appropriate rank is high. However they do provide a steady income while you're doing other stuff. It does take a while to get bak your investment tho, so they are for the long-term.

Cheers,

Scoob.

I personally think that 1’6 million credits are not sufficient funds to start with a station. To the cost of the station you’ll have (surely) to add at least one transport (if you don’t have it already), and rent a TL.

With that cash I’ll go for an Mk3 dealer. You’ve got enough to buy the transport, equip it with the necessary and buy the Merchant Software Mk3, which is worth more less half a million credits.

At first the return won’t be high, but my experience says that they do return the inversion…

I love them because they are very independent, at level 21 you won’t have to worry about nothing.

Anyway I’m not any expert of trading, since I earn my X3 living as a fighter (and I’m very well paid for it…).

Well I already have 1 ST and 1 UT running in paranid space. I was trhinking about a station to expand in other areas. I have a few more TS ships that I am using as MORT.

With only 1.6 milions in bank, you really don't need to invest in any factory . Yet. Get yourself a nice jumpdrive, best buy/sell software and the Docking computer and start some lucrative runs: From Paranid space bring Soya Husks to the Boron BoFu plants and Stott mixeries (secondary resource), and from Argon space and/or Ore belt/Emperor mines etc ferry Ore to CBSE, Paranid Prime etc, sectors with lots of hi-tech factories.
And thee is the never-ending little lucrative Energy Cells trade: I managed to nab one Paranid Demeter Superfreighter in Split Fire, repair it, pimp it up and I was merilly making milions with just trading stuff and doing those haul missions. Once I decided to start building, it was the 1MJ forges in Antigone Memorial. Now that tiny complex has over 30 1MJ forges and still sells everything at 5192 a piece. A good idea is to place an L Ore mine on that nice ore asteroid in CBSE and dedicate some cheap (read: free) TS as energy buyer and one as ore seller. Range 3 or even 4 jumps, sells everything, nice revenue.

ok interesting. I will look into these. The problem is that tomorrow there will be power outages during the day and those aren't helpful when you are playing X...
