if you dont have TC and only have X3R then install the latest XTM its stable and runs smoothly

in X3TC theres some lag issues if your fleet or empire grows too big but once you have tried the TC its hard to go back to X3R

im staying to TC for long time (addicted)

The first game of the series I played was x2 the threat. I remember how hard it was to make money then. I've heard about x:btf and I heard how EXTREMELY hard it was to make money. Like you had to but the sector map tool!!!

You TCers are too spoilt
You probably won't have any children if your parents didn't have any.

i started from xbtf - and i like the tougher economy in the early games
actually the easy money is only thing i dont like about TC
what i do like is the console commands that makes running a big empire very comfy
and i also like the extra sectors and ability to obtain so many different ships

My opinion?

XTM is a must! As long as your system can handle it.

I'll say two things.

One: The moderators tend to like keeping discussion of mods to the Scripting & Modding forum.

Two: XTM is a great mod that adds a lot of new things. Unfortunately for new players, a large chunk of the 'new things' it adds will want to rip off your skull and use it as a decorative planter. The mod adds about a million billion pirates, murderous aliens, and other fun things that will kill you and eat you. Literally, in the case of space dragons. (No, that's not a joke. It adds space dragons) So unless you really know what you're doing and enjoy seeing your trade fleet massacred every hour, I'd install some cheat scripts to go with it.

I strongly recommend you install XTM, it's a really great mod. That's what I'm playing right now, and combined with a couple of nice scripts (like Race Response Fleets, PilotAI, Economy supply trader) it becomes very realistic and fun. In my game, I only ever lost a couple of dumb traders who kept venturing in menelaus' paradise where the xenon fleet was having some drinks. With EST script however, you're rarely lose any ships, and the profits are almost as good as when you manual trade. Also, pirates are generally neutral to you when you start out and stay that way as long as you don't kill them(or get too rich and flash your loaded freighters in front of them). With RFF, the race sectors are relatively safe for new starters. With pilotAI, you can hire skilled pilots for your fighters, and they can actually survive heavy combat, even against capital ships. I managed to use my fleet of 25 fighters to clear a xenon sector(with my carrier as support, and some drones). Also, there are 50 more ways to get big cash, like the boarding frigate(yes, marines are used in this case), the shield hacking tools, helping out the race military, trading new wares, hunting live animals(the aforementioned dragons can bring a nice profit) etc

All in all, it adds much more variety to the universe, and if you keep your head out of the dangerous sectors it's very playable. I had a small fleet by the time I installed the RFF script, so that's an optional as well, since there are patrolling capital ships around.

Cheers

What about them nasty

sohnen beam cannons?
:D They were awesome! I would just go hunt out that M6 just to see if my latest frigate could kill it. Good times indeed. And the

M7 was evil too- with four of the things it could take out a khaak sector with next to no shield damage.
(Spawned it. Yup, I was a dirty cheat back then. But when it obliterated me without fail when I stumbled across it, I just had to have a go.)

The M0s were cool too. Valhalla ftw! But personally, I preferred the 0.7a Paranid Olympos(Possible Typo Alert!)with 14 missile cannons in the turrets and a missile manufacturing bay. That was an OHKO for most things. So yeah. If you're playing reunion, get the XTended mod. It's fun to be attacked/killed by pirates every now and again- it's canon with the Commonwealth military's rather weakened state. I never had any real problems, except for the occasional invisible Khaak cluster.
Allergic to work.

XTM was fun. I played it for a month till I got TC for Christmas. It was a lot of fun Grabbing an M7 and heading in to pirate sectors. TC is a blast as well. I am avoiding any exploits so I am going a little slower but it is more fun. About the time I am Done with TC XTC will be out and I will play that.

Hello I have been playing XTM for a while now and it is awesome!!! I love the sohnen, so arrogant but when you are that cool why not :P

I am playing the game on normal difficulty with a storyline and have decided to try and cap a few ships (pirate ones) in Cyclones fury (think that is correct) and have set my heart on a Pirate Kea.

However all is not going to plan. I have seriously tried for ages and they simply do not want to bail. My combat rank was master chief whilst i was trying but I have just turned to a militant, will this increase my chances??

I am seriously thinking that it is not possible to cap them for some reason.

Read many guides on capping and have tried the all out blast 'em technique and the chip away at hull techinque, neither seem to work. Is there any advice which can be given to me?

I am flying a pirate nova raider btw.

Also I was reading about the sohnen oriax, I guess this is something you can buy from the dyson BBS as they have already offered me a lilith, I guess the more work i do for them the better the ship offered will be.

How does the Oriax compare with the Pirate Kea in your experiences?

Thanks in advance for any help given, fly safe!

The XTM FAQ article Ollerus Jumpgate Deployment says:
To make a gate connection between two setors,
you need an Ollerus in each sector (2 Ollerus ships per link).

To make the connection, park them where you want the gates to be,
then go into the custom commands of one Ollerus,
select "Deploy/Packup Warpgate",
and select the second Ollerus in the target sector.

A gate will be created about 5km behind the Ollerus,
facing on the opposite side, so noone should run into the frigate.
Both Ollerus ships will now be immobile, and will not accept any commands.
If one of them is destroyed, the gate is destroyed.

This mod sounds great.

But I'm pretty new in X3, so its probably a good idead to spend some time with vanilla Reunion.
Or am I wrong?

Also has it any effect on FPS like some other scripts/mods?

I've been playing XTM fairly "blind" for a few weeks now, and I wouldn't play X3:R without it.

No probs with framerate. I am also running Race Response Fleets though, and its possible my total ship population is getting too big... Not sure yet.

Don't spend too much time with Vanilla unless you want to Post Your Stats. Get the hang of the game interface, and go for XTM, it rocks.

Now for my question - how do I get into some plot quests? I fired up the Treasure Hunt, but got bored trying to find "The Gladiator".

Can I launch other plots / quests? How?

Thanks!

If your stuck finding 'Gladiator' have a look at thexuniverse.com. There is a script on there, which when run will find all of whatever ship you are looking for in the Universe. You can ask it to find whatever type of ship you want. (M6, or even more specific, Centaur) It will then produce the results in a text file in your X3 directory.

I think it's called 'SirusShipFind. Very handy! 8)

As for other stuff, look on the same website. There is a walkthrough for all missions/plots on XTM.

@MarkusXL

Unless you are playing a custom start, XTM plot should kick in quite early: you receive a message asking you to do some things.

In any case http://www.thexuniverse.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9547 is a good place to look for any sort of info on XTM, in particular the 'mission/ship review' link can be useful for your question. ;)

X3:R + XTM: Activation of Sonhen Missions Part 2?

Post by MarkusXL »

Hi again, separate issue here -

There is a fine walkthrough on these missions on TXU, BUT they are not very clear on this one small point.

I went to the Sonhen Dyson Sphere and clicked around, but I get no response and see no way to activate Part 2 (the shopping runs) of these missions.

I can see that the "Sonhen Obeserver" is docked at the Sphere, and under "Comms" I see I can try to chat with "Unknown Object" but there is no response.

Any tips? T H A N K S!!!

btw my XTM is version .7.3 totally missed the .7.5 rats! :P

That might well be your answer. It's always best to keep up to date. Although I'm not sure what, if any, bug's were present in XTM 7.3
