gotta add some sort of a challenge in here, besides if has the NPC Bail Addon installed then capping and makeing credits is going to be very easy so picking up and useing other ship`s equipment won`t be that hard.

1. As I have already been fighting this would be very hard to fit into the background...
2. Pointless, I want to play this game for real. I'm not going to waste my first ever PHQ by putting it in a Xenon sector... why would you do that?
3. I already have 2 races as sort of neutral attack at any opportunity, and one more as a perpetual enemy.
4. Same idea as one, already been doing the opposite, and it would take ages. And be hard with 2.5.
The second 4. (?) Erm, impossible, I don't have sector takeover, I'm friends with half the races including pirates...

Oh well, scratch those ideas. Although I think you'll find it a bit difficult to add in any new rules/goals at all, if you don't start again. Not much you can change really is there?

I may have a few:
No using Terran ships that you haven't either been given or boarded from now on.

Can take a maximum of 2 capital class(frigate and up), 5 corvette class, and 10 fighters into hostile territory in which you have no installations(your own or just friendly) in.(on grounds of logistics- there's nowhere to refuel and resupply a larger fleet.(This may make OFF really hard if you end up with a sky-high fight rank before you finish.))

You must be shoot on sight with at least one race at all times(not including: Yaki, Pirate, Xenon, Khaak)

Well the last is accomplished (Split), the Fleet one sounds like a good idea, but it would ruin carrier combat... and the no using terran ships might be a bit annoying... no buying SBs and SFs...

Hmm, about the fleet limit one... how about no fighter wings without a ship in sector for them, eg. must have an M1, M7, TM, TL or Hyp. Van. to dock at in that sector, or possibly next door?

Yeah, that's good. Perhaps that could be tweaked to be: there must be enough docking slots available in a sector without stations for ALL your fighters to dock- essentially the same, but prevents a TM from being, canonically, the homebase of a battlefleet as opposed to a wing.

What I meant by the shoot on sight is that without attacking a different race, you CANNOT raise your rep with the Split. Or rather must avoid it. If it's a result of factors out of your control, then you must become shoot on sight with someone ASAP.

And yes, of course I thought about the problems with not being able to buy SBs and SFs. But that just makes it more of a challenge- in my own DiD I took out whole Xenon fleets with that one corvette. Makes it a bit easy, really. OK then, how about a compromise? No buying Terran ships above M3/M6.(delete as you see fit)

Well, it's time again!

Several notes.
Firstly, no fleet. I want you to all reapply to your positions if you haven't already got your ships, so revise your ideas. I have several spare ships and A LOT of spare money. So don't ask for an M5 just to be nice, but please don't ask for M6s quite yet, I'll use them later.
Secondly, no screenshots in the last 2 chapters, although I promised. But I will put screenies in this one. This one has some EPIC battles in.

Chapter 9: Genocide is Fun

I opened the Guide again, to see if there was anything inside, and noticed a section I had not seen before.

I tapped on the touch screen, selecting Map Download Interface.

What? Universe map!? No wonder this had cost 20M!

I tapped Y and suddenly the screen blossomed with sectors, every single one, and all the asteroids and stations carefully placed, correctly, every sector, every station, listed.

Wow.

Big wow.

Sectors I’d never even heard of, several of the unconnected: the Kha’ak Hives, some Unknown Sector marked with several broken gates, listen only as ‘Found by Bala Gi’. And somewhere called Aldrin.

Terran, according to the data, a lost Terran colony only recently discovered. Seems they had a lot to hide! If I sold this info to the Commonwealth Governments I’d be rich! And the Guild! But I didn’t.

I don’t know why. It felt secret. Special. I knew the universe, everything.

Telling anyone would give away my huge advantage.

Time to explore!

I hit Aldrin and stared dumbly, along with most of the crew, especially the Terrans.

‘What the-?’
‘Now that has just put the Steroid in Asteroid! It’s… huge!’

‘That must be… what… 500km long? Bigger? That’s a small moon!’
‘Yeh! And look at all the stations, so many! Everywhere!’
‘And so far apart!’
‘And more of those fast ships, ‘Springblossoms!’
‘All right, shows over’ I said, ushering them away from the front observation window.

But what a show! Shame I wasn’t in… best books… with the Terrans.

After a few more explorations I received a message about a Colossus which had been stolen by the Yaki. Ah well, what did they want me to do about it?

I set up my factories then, it was fun. Building them all in a reasonable shape, then giving the complex 2Mcr, most of my funds, and setting it to buy in Energy at 20 each. That would suffice until I had my own freighters to do it for me.

Now, time to raise some funds.

5Mcr easily for wiping out 2 Split TS ships, although the Paranid ween’t happy with me for it.

I managed to buy 2 more Shields to give myself the full lot, along with a cheap Falcon Hauler at only 700,000cr. That might come in useful later on.

So I jumped into a deadly Xenon sector, to kill or be killed, and grab loads of loot like a good pirate!

But instead it was a case of ‘I visited the Xenon Core and all I got was this lousy M4.’.

Hey, that even rhymes.

I suddenly realised that I had a large amount of Spacefuel, so I bought a Pelican TM as a smuggling ship, useful as it was quite cheap, had a reasonable cargobay, and could be later reused as a patrol craft, or weapons storage. Or suchlike.

But it turned out someone came and bought the lot. So I put the price up so I could sell it for more to the factories… and they bought it up still.

This was going to be a better profit opportunity than I thought! But I didn’t want people filling all the Pirate stations up, oh no… that was my job!

I taxied a friendly Terran dude around, who informed me that the Terrans were making a push to be accepted in the commonwealth, and told me to go to Omicron Lyrae, which I did, and found he wasn’t lying. Some Terran diplomats needed an escort back to Terran sectors, and the Argon escort group had heard of two things: firstly, my fighting skills, and secondly, my damaged reputation with the Terrans.

This would solve that problem. This would make the Terrans happy with me. If I could prove my worth. And provide a sincere apology…

The patrol went well, and I was offered a job by the Terrans, who were obviously quick to forgive. But I turned it down. Maybe later.

I patrolled a few sectors, having a bit of a rest whilst watching my IBL idea start to work. I watched, laughing, as a Kha’ak Cluster broke and destroyed much of the shipping, including a TS carrying large quantities of Gauss Ammo. Perfect! I now had over 13000 GC shots!

Needing a bit more funding I took on a series of jobs from the Argon government, killing a few Pirates, and making a few… million credits.

With 10Mcr to spend I decided it was time for another permanent investment. LTs. Lots of LTs. Local traders.

A already had Hali Bo flying around core Argon space (3 jumps from Argon Prime) and he had bought himself a jumpdrive and was making the profit roll in, so I ordered 10 more Mercurys as they appeared slightly more reliable than Dolphins, and sent them south to Home of Light where I knew they could pick up the necessary upgrade to house a trading pilot.

I sent the 10 ships to different sectors, to see which was in the best economic state, and then I could improve that one and use it.

I just had to wait until they could traverse several sectors, and then set them loose.

I needed more money so I popped into Brennan’s Triumph to take a look at the Guild’s status, and found that there was an incoming Xenon attack. I was needed to defend the sector.

I got surrounded, swamped quickly by M4s and M6s which decided I was a threat, and the M6s just kept pounding with ISRs, but one by one, fell. I was glad of my Gauss Cannons then. The rest of the force, mainly M3s, made a beeline for the Pirate Base. Bad idea. A single Guild Notus Hauler destroyed the lot of them.

A few more fighters arrived, and attempted an assault on the Base again, and then there was a large flash.

Bugger.

I needn’t have worried though, it was armed only with Gauss, and soon ran out of ammo allowing me to flame it down.

1.6Mcr was hardly adequate, but I recognised that the Pirates couldn’t afford to pay much.

After a few more Xenon missions I jumped to Black Hole Sun, for no particular reason, and discovered a huge Xenon patrol fleeing back towards the gate. I tried my best to destroy them, even though I wouldn’t be paid for it.

I decided that I really had to build up funds. I needed a fleet, supporting factories, the lot. And I would need money.

The next 3 or 4 hours descended into a mass of violence in my mind. Fighting, killing, flashes of plasma, burst of flame, the blue streaks of PAC and the green lines of HEPT, the blasts of CIG that oh so nearly killed us all, the Gauss shots, back and forth, endless lines of dead, stretching into the horizon. Scouts, interceptors, heavy fighters, corvettes, frigates, and destroyers. Non stood before us and lived if we so commanded their death.

Entire sectors descended into war. Teladi sectors in the East and Central regions, Split sectors invaded and cast down. Argon sectors saved from the endless Xenon swarm which eagerly waited for the rise of machine rule, thousands were saved at the loss of thousands more.

It was a galaxy of war.

In the end we had to stop fighting. Other things commanded my attention, but it had been fun, and I’d picked up a few fighters who’d bailed. It was time to do some real work. The Shrike was wrecked, and endless Pirates were throwing themselves at my shields; until I could raise a fleet Scale Plate Green would have to fend for itself, then I could return and collect my reward.

But I needed money. How much I wasn’t sure. Almost 1Mcr to buy another LT, as LT3 in Herron’s Nebula had disappeared, with the last Blackbox recording being ‘‘Shields at… 0%’ No, no! No, Computer tu- Arhg!!’ which didn’t sound too good, and then I would need loads more money to either repair the Shrike or buy something new.

Yes, that was how bad it is.

Really bad. So bad, I was actually glad, for once, that the Split existed. Their habits of using Spaceflies as fuel was something to be glad about for once. Sure, it was cruel, it was illegal, it was thoughtless, but if one, just one Spacefly had hit my hull then, the entire of Scale Plate Green would have disappeared in a thermo-nuclear splodge. That was the state of my hull.

Gulp.

I parked in a quiet backwater to check the damage and my money, and got the surprise of my life…
