Ambition is a fine thing.
N-S's ambition: Do the plot missions and not die, I believe.
Reader's ambition: To be entertained by the most immpossible stunts that N-S can be persuaded to pull off, IE going after a Tyr.
Pilot's ambition: To drink/smoke their brains into easily-blasted, slow reaction mush.
Marine's ambition: To not get killed on a boarding op.
Am I the only one who sees the immpossibility of mutual success?
Oh, and +1 to 'It's all going to end in Tyrs'

It's pretty wierd that killing a Xenon capital in terran space doesn't give you a bigger reputation boost ..
As for the Tyr:
Tyr'ed of killing you
or
Got Tyrs in your eyes?

Eine bessere Zukunft ist nur eine Entscheidung weit weg ...
Es ist einfach kein X in Rebirth .. Kein anspornender Trade, kein herausforderndes Think, kein freies Build und nur anspruchsloses Fight.

109 - Maybe Later..
Sidling up to a position a scant few km off the bow of the destroyer I do a surreptitious scan of its systems..

.. and I'm not too keen on what I'm seeing. Point-Singularity Projectors and Starbust Shockwave cannons, and in large numbers too. I'm a little sketchy on Terran tech so not entirely sure which is which, but I'm pretty sure one of them is the Terran equivalent to a Flak cannon, and that being the case that means it's got 27 of them liberally coating its hull. Spiky! Currently I think any operation we might run against that one could only really be entitled Operation: 'Oh, god, oh god, we're all gonna die!' and in the interest of not going down that path just yet I'm going to have to have a good long think about how to approach that one, so for now I'll be heading back to home space.
Back in Heretics end and we meet up with our Terran liaison/operations officer, depending on what perspective you want to put on it and he outlines our next mission. It seems the Terrans have this notion going on that certain elements within the Argon government may be inciting the Xenon into attacking the Terrans, and they want us to perform a simple covert acquire and tail job. It all seems a bit unlikely if you ask me as the Xenon aren't widely known for being particularly responsive to outside requests, but are widely known for a shoot first and completely omit the whole ask questions side of things when encountering anything non-Xenon. I can't see that philosophy really being a good platform from which to form any kind of alliance.
Anyways, Action Jackson has given us some coordinates to check out which translate to Nyanas Hideout, which is quite convenient as I'll be heading home that way anyway. I've decided I might have to switch down from the Shrike for this one, an M7 lacks a certain degree of sneaky-sneaky. Arriving in Nyanas Hideout and heading towards the indicated location and it turns out Terran intel is pretty good as there is indeed a small Xenon attack force roughing up a couple Boron freighters. Nothing too unusual about that tho, we're fairly near X-347 and the Xenon do run raids out of there every so often, I've had more than my fair share of Q's causing me trouble over in Scale Plate Green after all. Interestingly tho there's also a Pirate Nova Raider which appears to be part of the Xenon wing and that is unusual, there's usually no love lost between those two.
Maintaining a discreet distance at the edge of Gravidar range I monitor the situation for a while and eventually an Argon patrol decides it can be bothered to respond to the Xenon shooting up the local trade traffic and with the last L destroyed the pirate fighter makes a run for the west gate. Powering up the engines I move to pursue..
Across Scale Plate Green and heading north to PTNI Headquarters I'm getting a sneaking suspicion where this guy might be heading.. and yep, once in PTNI Headquarters he heads eastwards. That might be a problem, my fleet is based largely in that sector, I could quite do without my home sector being the base of operations for a faction intent on causing an interstellar war with the Terrans..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/109-2.gif
.. Well damn, it seems they've only gone and set up their own pirate base right on my turf!
I mean seriously, how does that even happen? I'm away for two days on business and I get back to find my guys have moved in and are playing happy families with a bunch of intergalactic terrorists!

There is no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

So NS, are you complaining that they haven't paid rent yet? You could give them time to come up with a nice sum - how about the time it takes Awesomesauce to get there and open fire?

We are all explorers of the deepest reaches of space.
We don't just watch space on our monitors and listen to the sounds in it:
We, all of us, each and every one of us, owns, to a man, as many operational Space Shuttles as NASA does.
Yes, we're all that awesome. Give yourself a hug.

Why waiting for Awesomesauce when Silver Wing is already there and ready-to-push-big-red-desintegrate-everything-in-missile-range-button?Knetter_Gek wrote:So NS, are you complaining that they haven't paid rent yet? Well since if you use The Saucemeister they get a chance to bring up the cash and you can keep them around - if they keep paying the rent.Idleking wrote:Why waiting for Awesomesauce when Silver Wing is already there and ready-to-push-big-red-desintegrate-everything-in-missile-range-button?Knetter_Gek wrote:So NS, are you complaining that they haven't paid rent yet? If silver goes in it'll yield at most a buck fifty in rent... show-offs

Maybe this is part of a cunning, "You hold them, I'll hit them" strategy your guys were preparing to launch as soon as you got back.
