Have now updated flight certificate with qualifications in commanding vessels of M7 size and above. Am particularly capable with Terran and ATF M2's.

Yes your M7M will consider it a personal challenge to use every nuke in it's tubes and ram it before going down in a ball of flames as it impacts the stations Invinci-Armor
See mormaly when the stations shields are down any yours are not you can go flank speed into it and BOOM goes the station. It's a good trick for ships too.
option two. at full speed tow a cheap M asteroid mine right under the docking clamps so nothing can undock with out hitting the ass end of the asteroid mine. Very useful for gate blockades as well. It doesn't work as well OOS however it is genious in sector.
Imagine exiting out of the gates event horizon only to be smashed into a huge rock. OUCH!!!!

The skunk really is a bare bones model. It doesn't even have a GPS to highlight the way. Or targeting software MK 2 to allow target selection and painting from the sector map. It lacks a Trading System Extention to show prices in the sector you are in. The lack of satellites in rebirth is also annoying to the trader/pirate looking for a mark.

110 - Scorched Earth
Well that poses a bit of a dilemma. The obvious solution to unruly neighbours moving in would be too roll up to their front door and firebomb the place, trouble is if I eliminate them then I've nothing to give the Terrans and that's going to limit my scope for infiltrating their systems. On the other hand if I head back to the Terrans and give them the coords to these guys then when they show up to check it out they'll find I've been homebased in the same system as the group that's been sending Xenon at them. I think that wouldn't go down well and might raise some difficult questions. I reckon the best course of action for my long term interests then is going to be to pull out of this system and move elsewhere. Erase all trace we were ever here and that way I can supply the Terrans with the information they want, that'll keep them on side. It's going to be an inconvenience, but I can live with that.
Where to go though? I'm not really sure at the minute but at any rate I want to be out of here so while I decide where we'll be moving to I think since the fleets is going to have to move anyway then we might as well make good use of the upheaval. 'Gulargambone' has been doing a good job keeping Profit Centra Alpha secure from those Yaki incursions, but they've still been harassing my freighters here and there. This is costing me money in repairs/replacements so they need to be educated that my shipping is not fair game. I know where their home sectors are and we're not messing about today, this isn't so much a punitive action as we're going in to level the place. Entirely.
Operation: 'Scorched Earth'
Jumping into the north gate of Ocracokes Storm there isn't much to see and as the fleet moves south we have to deal with exactly two Tenjins and a Tonbo. Insignificant and if this is the level of opposition we're going to encounter then this will be a cakewalk. I'm suspecting tho that defences will be a lot stronger deeper in. Dropping through the south gate into Senators Badlands and a short distance away there's not one but two of the Yakis Ryu heavy transporters. A couple fighters is not much but the loss of those two will smart and not being particularly well shielded Gauss rounds punch thru them quite effectively.
We're off to a good start then and the next target is the main Yaki shipyard further south into this sector but as we're approaching that one the Yaki response force hoves into view..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/110-1.gif
.. quite an impressive force and not one I'm keen to tangle with up close. I don't need to tho as I've brought a couple bombers along for just such a problem..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/110-2.jpg
.. With the Akuma destroyed I decide to send 'Night Hawk II' in to mop up the remainder. With 12x flak and Blue and Purple running escort that soon clears out the remaining Yaki fighters. All mobile threats eliminated for now and while the Raptor heads south to interdict anything coming thru the south gate it's time to pour some heavy fire onto that shipyard..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/110-3.jpg
With the shipyard destroyed that eliminates the last trace of Yaki prescence in this sector and leaves just one more remaining to clear, Weavers Tempest, the Yaki home sector. We make a forceful entrance but there's a Shuri light carrier waiting near the north gate which dumps a whole load of fighters. I've got me some nuclear-tipped goodness tho and I'm feeling generous..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/110-4.jpg
..Aaaaargh indeed!
The Shuri was apparently their last line of defence as with the destruction of it and it's complement of fighters the sector is clear of hostile forces, and a sector clear of hostile forces is little more than target practice..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/110-5.gif
That should do it. I think after the comprehensive stomping we've just given them the Yaki will be hard pressed attempting to find enough ship parts to piece together a shuttle let alone anything that's likely to come anywhere near any of my freighters for a while.
Amidst all this death and destruction tho, watching the Guass rounds fly and missiles streak across space it's given me some time to contemplate my relocation problem. What I'm looking for is somewhere relatively quiet, off the beaten track. Preferably a few mineral resources in the area would be good for some light equipment manufacturing. Perusing the old universe A-Z has brought up a few possibilities. One immediately sticks out tho as worth a visit, Freedoms Reach!
Ah yes, lair of my old employer Mak..

We have now reached the point where Steve stomps things because they're tickling him.

Diablo had "Softcore" (non-DiD) and "Hardcore" (DiD) modes and ladders.borgrel wrote:um, a DiD game i get. However, I have a QUESTION

I suppose one could justify it as a some sort of insta-clone+memory back-ups or maybe a "higher power" controlling a non-linear timeline if you wish.

If you just reload for any little thing, then I guess you might call it "Whimpy Reload" (WR) but that's just one way to play.
I don't play DiD - I just play and when I get fed up being powerful I start from scratch. But I do not reload for anything other than death - lose a ship? Tough luck. Lose a fleet? Bummer. Lose Avarice due to a Kha'ak invasion? scream bloody murder, but tough luck.
Whether this qualifies as "too chicken to play DiD" or "a year in the life of an immortal" is up to you I suppose. I just call it playing the game.
We are all explorers of the deepest reaches of space.
We don't just watch space on our monitors and listen to the sounds in it:
We, all of us, each and every one of us, owns, to a man, as many operational Space Shuttles as NASA does.
Yes, we're all that awesome. Give yourself a hug.

111 - Flambé
I've been reviewing the combat logs of our Yaki expedition, I thought we'd managed to get through that without casualty, but it appears that's not quite the case after all..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/111-1.gif
.. Fortunately it was just one of the unmanned ships that are currently stationed on my Raptor so noone actually died, but it's an odd one. 'Night Hawk II' did take some missile hits while it was mopping up the Yaki so the techs reckon it might have shook loose from it's mooring clamps. Not to worry tho, I'm not going to get overly mournful over the loss of one unmanned M5. Also one of Green wing took a little damage while they were busy chasing down Fujins..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/111-2.gif
..Not anything too severe, but one of his nine lives lost there I think, better pay attention in future!
Off to Freedoms Reach then, and not entirely sure how well I'm likely to be received. For that matter I'm not entirely sure how well I even want to be received. I've got a fleet of my own these days tho, and it has teeth. I'm of a mind to have an amalgamation of forces, aggressively so, but arriving in Freedoms Reach am disappointed to find the sector empty of anything more dangerous than a Dolphin with a bad temper. It seems that since I was last down this way that Mak has vacated the area, but it would seem he may not have gone willingly..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/111-3.jpg
..as that's the remains of the old PBG forge we stole. Presumably one of the races decided they'd had enough of losing shipping and decided to come thru here and clean out this wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Freedoms Reach would make for a good base of operations, it has all the key points I'm looking for, but if it's been attacked once then it's been compromised. Perhaps not here then. Leaving Freedoms reach to its secrets then I move back thru the north gate into Dannas Chance to contemplate my next move and.. hello, what's he up to..?
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/111-4.gif
.. I think it's a sign, but if it is then it's one written in fire! I believe I might need to scramble up some troops here pronto. This isn't going to help my Teladi rep any of course, but sometimes you just got to go for it when something like that drops in your lap and a few claws crossed with credits here and there if necessary generally goes a long way to smoothing over any major problems. It's going to be the first call for pod deployment action for 'Bitter Wind' so we'll see how he fares. A few drones to keep the turrets occupied should help the pods slip by and..
http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/111-5.gif
.. Nice. Lost a couple guys taking it, a couple of them quite good people, but war is harsh and the prize was secured so all in all mission accomplished. Not a dead loss today after all.

I would guess he actually dropped the one he got here, toasted it and took a pick (just using a little artistic license to get a good screen grab) but don't really want to know - it just makes for a better story
