A recent acqusition that hadn't made it thru refit at the time. It has now so if it generates any more holes you're in trouble.

105 - Deja Vu
You won't find many who consider the Khaak useful as they generally have a quite unreasonable habit of turning up, laying waste to everything in sight, and then vanishing as quickly as they appeared. This naturally tends to be unappreciated by the citizens of whichever unfortunate sector is being laid waste to. Today tho they did prove useful, at least for me, as I'd picked up a large cluster hovering around the edge of Midnight Star, presumably a reconnaissance mission prior to one of their infamous multi-destroyer point jumps. They're pretty to watch by the way. From a safe distance obviously.
Anyway, being the good Samaritan I'd rolled a Hornet in it's direction while my two freight drones visited the nearby Solar Power plant to pick up jumpfuel and was busy drinking coffee and watching the warhead cruising toward the unsuspecting cluster when a sudden thought struck me.. Purple! Of course! It's so obvious really when you think about it, makes you wonder how I could have forgotten..

.. Yes, Menalaus Oasis, quite possibly the most garishly coloured planet I've ever encountered, and home to Mahi Ma, slightly odd Boron.
He's a little disappointed his friends seem to be permanently missing, I'm not, I didn't know them. He wants to go see for himself though and if it were to involve fighting my way across Xenon sectors again I'd have said no. As it is we've rather handily got jump coordinates for the gate we came thru in that odd construct so we can jump in direct, I'm intrigued by it myself anyway. If he wants to go visit though he'll have to stay on board and wait a while as I've got some other business with the Terrans today before I go chasing off anywhere else.
Jumping into Heretics End then and everything seems on the level so far..

.. There's a Terran Claymore there waiting for me as expected, ready to escort me through their space. Apparently there's some rules I'm going to have to follow tho. Primarily they're only willing to allow me the one ship in their territory for security reasons. They didn't really go into details as to why but I think the gist of it centres around an incident a while back. Bunch of pirates attacking their Atmo-Lifter supply lines or something..
Not to worry tho, while I'm only bringing the one ship I've got Orange wing stashed onboard. I'd considered bringing a more seasoned team, but Purple wing can't be trusted not to randomly fire missiles at things and Blue wing has an LX as a flightleader. I'm thinking if I get into a situation where I have to launch fighters then launching Xenon fighters in the airspace of a race that considers them evil personified might make that situation just a smidgeon more tense. Besides it's about time Orange wing got some flight time.
The traversal across Asteroid Belt is mostly uneventful. I stick to my flightpath like glue while my escort is busily chattering away pointing various things out to me and generally extolling the virtues of Terran technology. He seems particularly animated..

.. about the Osaka that's cruising over the top of us and goes into great length about it's general superiority to all other destroyers. Practically invincible he reckons. 'Well I don't know about that' I said, 'but it's got a pretty good view from the command deck.' Hastily adding 'Or so I'd imagine..' when there was a slightly worrying pause in the previous stream of babble. Oops! I think I got away with it tho as he was busy chattering away again as we entered Jupiter orbit and was pointing out the stellar view of their gas giant. Quite.
A short run across Saturn and then we're into Uranus which to be quite honest rivals Menalaus Oasis for garish planets, albeit with a slightly more blue motif. This is our final destination then where my escort hands me off to my contact, a one Lt. S. Plinter who I shall henceforth refer to as Splinter purely because it amuses me to do so.
Right, noones tried to shoot me yet today so let's find out what Splinter has got in mind..
