Yes it was originally from the Incredibles, but I suggested it first on this thread as a name for the missile-plex. But it is better as a ship name.

Reporting in to Orange wing!

Oh, and i've taken the liberty of changing all the missile/torpedo/deathanddestruction buttons in my ship to small rodent heads*. Looking forward to be playing a game of "whack-a-mole" on that dashboard :)

*(Plastic, of course.. Too damn far to travel to earth for the real thing**)

Hey, wanna do something tonight?

Doh. I missed that. I guess my request goes back to a Terran Sabre (or even a Cutlass) with EMPCs & Poltergeists (60% launch) if you can get a hold of one and the guns for it.

Ooh! Or one of them fancy rapiers!

Well I don't think so, but B.R.E. insists that there shall be no deviation from the directives of core processing. Any such unexpected faults shall be debugged. With fire.

Speaking of, I'm going to go spend the next few hours 'processing' some Argon whiskey.

Out of curiosity, what are your fight/trade ranks? If memory serves, one of your rules was to avoid the plots till your fight rank was 'Up there'.

I'm a fighter jock. I'm happy with my M3+. But I'm curious why most of this hen plucking and cat calling isn't comming from blue wing.

And I'm not buying because gothsheep is a toaster. (He is a toaster, blah you know what i mean)

A recent acqusition that hadn't made it thru refit at the time. It has now so if it generates any more holes you're in trouble.

105 - Deja Vu

You won't find many who consider the Khaak useful as they generally have a quite unreasonable habit of turning up, laying waste to everything in sight, and then vanishing as quickly as they appeared. This naturally tends to be unappreciated by the citizens of whichever unfortunate sector is being laid waste to. Today tho they did prove useful, at least for me, as I'd picked up a large cluster hovering around the edge of Midnight Star, presumably a reconnaissance mission prior to one of their infamous multi-destroyer point jumps. They're pretty to watch by the way. From a safe distance obviously.

Anyway, being the good Samaritan I'd rolled a Hornet in it's direction while my two freight drones visited the nearby Solar Power plant to pick up jumpfuel and was busy drinking coffee and watching the warhead cruising toward the unsuspecting cluster when a sudden thought struck me.. Purple! Of course! It's so obvious really when you think about it, makes you wonder how I could have forgotten..

.. Yes, Menalaus Oasis, quite possibly the most garishly coloured planet I've ever encountered, and home to Mahi Ma, slightly odd Boron.

He's a little disappointed his friends seem to be permanently missing, I'm not, I didn't know them. He wants to go see for himself though and if it were to involve fighting my way across Xenon sectors again I'd have said no. As it is we've rather handily got jump coordinates for the gate we came thru in that odd construct so we can jump in direct, I'm intrigued by it myself anyway. If he wants to go visit though he'll have to stay on board and wait a while as I've got some other business with the Terrans today before I go chasing off anywhere else.

Jumping into Heretics End then and everything seems on the level so far..

http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/105-2.gif

.. There's a Terran Claymore there waiting for me as expected, ready to escort me through their space. Apparently there's some rules I'm going to have to follow tho. Primarily they're only willing to allow me the one ship in their territory for security reasons. They didn't really go into details as to why but I think the gist of it centres around an incident a while back. Bunch of pirates attacking their Atmo-Lifter supply lines or something..

Not to worry tho, while I'm only bringing the one ship I've got Orange wing stashed onboard. I'd considered bringing a more seasoned team, but Purple wing can't be trusted not to randomly fire missiles at things and Blue wing has an LX as a flightleader. I'm thinking if I get into a situation where I have to launch fighters then launching Xenon fighters in the airspace of a race that considers them evil personified might make that situation just a smidgeon more tense. Besides it's about time Orange wing got some flight time.

The traversal across Asteroid Belt is mostly uneventful. I stick to my flightpath like glue while my escort is busily chattering away pointing various things out to me and generally extolling the virtues of Terran technology. He seems particularly animated..

http://dbbr17626.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/steve/105-3.jpg

.. about the Osaka that's cruising over the top of us and goes into great length about it's general superiority to all other destroyers. Practically invincible he reckons. 'Well I don't know about that' I said, 'but it's got a pretty good view from the command deck.' Hastily adding 'Or so I'd imagine..' when there was a slightly worrying pause in the previous stream of babble. Oops! I think I got away with it tho as he was busy chattering away again as we entered Jupiter orbit and was pointing out the stellar view of their gas giant. Quite.

A short run across Saturn and then we're into Uranus which to be quite honest rivals Menalaus Oasis for garish planets, albeit with a slightly more blue motif. This is our final destination then where my escort hands me off to my contact, a one Lt. S. Plinter who I shall henceforth refer to as Splinter purely because it amuses me to do so.

Right, noones tried to shoot me yet today so let's find out what Splinter has got in mind..

First live mission, hope we get to see some action.. I've polished up "sir nukalot" to the point were you could eat of him.. Cause as everyone knows, looks is at least half the battle.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have an important errand to run.. Heard a rumour floating around about Argon Wiskey being present in one of my wingmen's cabins.. This demands further inspection.

No problem at all boss. Holes are easy, I got a good supply of universal sealant. Fill a hole with some of this stuff and apply some paint and no-one will ever know there was a hole there unless they press on that spot really hard, but thats why you apply the paint you see.

If bits get blown off, then that might be a problem as I'm a little short of cardboard and duct tape...

Say, has anyone seen a furry little critter that answers to 'beep'?

Epic story, once again. :D after Squiddy and Mak ( helluva fun to read)nice hattrick so far.Congrats 8)
However, i found a Pilot, who might want to apply to your fleet, as far as i can understand his mumbling, he goes by the name of "Lo'st M'rbl's". I got no Idea what ship he likes, but everytime he hears the word M'aam, he starts to salivate, and gets very excited. So i d'bet his favourite loadout are Ma/Am's. And the way he reacts to it, i 'd say: the more the better.
He seems to be sober mostly, but as his psychologist ,there is only one way to describe his personality:Totalnutjob. I think, that should be printed along his ship, in bright letters, so everybody knows that staying away from him during battle will double their chances of survival.
