I would like to use this mod as a background pack by cutting out all of the other changes. Would simply repackaging the tsuns and tbackgrounds and dds directory from the mod file produce the required result? I'm not exactly clear on which file is responsible for enlarging system size.

Just remove the the maps/X_universe and maps/X_universe_debris files from the Cat/Dat file, then all your bacgkrounds will change to the new ones.

*Mod Updated to 2.5 compatability.*

For those using CMOD3-SSBM do you think that it's balanced or does it need tweaking?... Feedback please. :pirat:

Hi spacefueladdict,

I just installed XTC 2.5 and removed the (now) old Plugin Manager 2.20 BETA 6.
After installing the new Plugin Manager 1.00 Beta 5 I removed the SSBM 2.1 version without problems... BUT
when I try to install the new SSBM. 2.5.spk, it loads a while, tells me everything went fine, but nothing at all shows up in my Mod/Package list. Do you know whats wrong? SSBM or is it the plugin manager?

Do you provide your mod in .CAT and .DAT files as well so I could install it as fakepatch?


EDIT: nevermind, it installed correctly, only it still shows as 'Sector & Background Mod. 2.1', version 2.1d. Should change that soon ;)

Unknown Sector / Avarice disappeared in map

Hi, me again,

after installing SSBM 2.5 I noticed that my home sector ('unknown sector east of montalaar', aka Avarice) disappeared from the sector map:

I had that problem once before and solved it by reinstalling SSBM, but this time without luck. Can you help?

afaik avarice is removed by the mod due to the sector amount limit or something like that, i thought it was on the first page but apparently its not :o

Yes thats right, the limit to the number of items that could be placed into the 00749.BOD file was 1000, so avarice was the sector that had to go to make way for the ATF core sectors and the Extra pirate sector, but now i believe that the limit to the number of items has been increased, although i well seek some verification.

Fixed, Fancy not changing the name of the SPK..... :oops:

Regarding 1000 items: then how comes I played with Avarice working in my universe map until installing 2.5?
The only other sector/map change I have used before was MUS by Ketraar, which renamed the unknown sector to 'Avarice' and made Betty say 'Avarice' as well.

And let me say that a LOT of people frequent Avarice quite more often than they visit that new pirate sector or some isolated ATF stations... many players have their HQ in avarice, so it would be great if avarice of all sectors would stay visible on the map. Thanks in advance :)

Well i read somewhere that the limit for the bod file has been increased to somewhere in the region of about 4000 items, WOW! thats a whole lotta sectors.

Even with SSBM installed, there can't be more than about 180-200 sectors ingame, so why bother with those 1000 in the first place?

4000 items
iirc you need one or two entries per gate-connection...
and one for each sector. So 4000items doesn't mean 4000 sectors ;)

So, if roughly 200 sectors have 3 gates each (average I guess) with 2 entries each, that would mean 200*3*2+200 = 1400 entries at maximum. Then the 1000 entries would indeed be insufficient for all sectors.

Let's hope the information concerning 4'000 entries in the BOD file are correct :)

i think he said the connections between the gates use a space, aka 2 gates only use 1.

then again not every sector has 4 gates :p

Its 1 item per gate, plus 1 for the sector box. so a sector with 4 gates uses 5 items in the BOD file. so if 4000 does turn out to be correct then there is enough for about 800 sectors

How are you supposed to get acess to the new Pirate core sector (formerly Freedom's reach)? Just by "hacking" their stations one by one? Or is there another way to do it?

Excellent mod. I was a close follower of your works when you were earlier on this project and I loved the new spaced-up and great visual feeling. I also like the changes made to the universe, like the new pirate and ATF sectors and the renamed Solar System.

You can fly into it at any time, but if your not on friendly terms with the pirates be prepared to be a tad on the dead side!!! :D

If you use The Pirate Guild script and u set relations to friend, then you will have access to all the stations in that sector..

I gotta say... I am freaking impressed by this... was totally worth the download... so far with the other scripts I have installed everything is stable. Game hasn't even stuttered cept for when script and AL plugins were installing

I do have a question as I did hit my first game freeze... does the tship file one conflict with other mods that change the tship file and jobs?
