(readies BHEPT Cannons)

Fail to install a bonus back?!

NEVER!

Many cool things in there, like the lovable Comercial Agent, guranteed (almost) to make any station profitable, mobile mining, saving many credits on costly minerals, and the feared cartel shield hacker (haven't tried that one perosnally yet, but I've heard good things about it).

Why are you still reading my post?
GET THE BONUS PACK! :P
Targeting and shooting Reds at every opportunity, and the occasional blue...

Thank you for your valuable assistance, we offer you a pittance in credits, and some goodwill for you covering for our incompetent defenses.

Please cease attacking our assets!

Hi Moggy2

I'm new to the whole aspect of modding for this game. I have modded before for other titles i.e. Total War series Medieval upwards, but I really like this game and I'd like to get as much out of it as I can.

Now I have X3 Reunion version 1 which I've just recently upgraded to version 2.5. I had a problem regarding my UT pilots. You see I've been trying to move my UT lv 25 to a better freighter because his Teladi Vulture can't carry as much. However I couldn't transfer him onto my other frieghter; been asking around for help and I've been told that I have to get the bonus pack so I can switch UT pilots.

Ok my first questions are:

1) Firstly, how reliable is this Bonus Pack? Are there any bugs, does it crash often etc....This is the most important thing I want to ask because the last thing anyone wants is to download a mod which always crashes. I've experienced this before, hated it and that's why I would like your oppinion please since you're the expert.

2) Can I move UT pilots from inferior ships to superior ships when needed i.e. like the one mentioned above;

3) Will I need to re-install my game in order to make this bonus pack work i.e. deleting my current progress so I basically start fresh;
(I would like to just carry on from my saved games rather than starting again)

4) Will this work with X Tended i.e. if I you do say that installing this bonus pack will delete my files then I might as well download everything that I need to make this an even better game right. If so, which do I install first? Do I install Xtended before the Bonus Pack or do I reinstall X3, then the 2.5 patch, follwed by the Bonus Pack and then X Tended?

Thanks for reading and looking forward to your reply.

First of all, the Bonus Pack is NOT a mod, it's just a group of scripts which you can pick and choose to install. It's an official bonus pack, so it won't mark your game as modified in any way. And all the scripts in it work just fine.

Now, as to using it with the XTM mod, you'll have to ask those questions in the appropriate thread in the S&M forum for Reunion, or on the mod authors' own web site. That's not a discussion for the main forum.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

Ok my apologies but please don't shout at me with big bold writting because I was just merely asking a few questions. I'm new on here and so far I've talked and replied to you with respect that any human being deserves, so please calm down. I have feelings too you know, I'm not some imaginary person that you can shout at with bold letters. I wouldn't do that to you. Let us observe net-etiquette as civilized beings.

As for my question, well I would just like to point out that I have the same right as anyone on here to ask questions ok. I know you are a modderator but so am I. I mod on Stardock working on Galactic Civ. I lay the rules of conduct just the same way as you do on the english forums, but I am fair, just & respectful when it comes to other people. I am not saying that you aren't, but I'm not really asking you the question am I; I've clearly written it out to Moggy2.

Now I respect you just as much as anybody else, so I all I'm asking is for you to respect my questions too. I understand that some text within my message is irrelevant to the topic, but all I'm asking is that you let Moggy2 answer my questions first. After that you can dispose of my question or move it somewhere else. I think this sounds fair Nanook?

Apart from the Forum rule already mentioned by Carlo ...

1. Moggy2 has not posted on these Forums since last July. Therefore, we could just wait for unlikely answer or provide an answer, whether you like it or not.

2. X3R S&M community has what they call "scripts" and "mods", and their nature (and differences) are described in separate X3R S&M Forum.

3. Each script within the Bonuspack is described in Readme document that is installed along the Bonuspack, and in separate threads within the X3R S&M Forum. Each script has been tested by volunteers before inclusion to the Bonuspack. Bonuspack is free as in speech. "volunteers" and "free" do not mean lack of quality, but do not guarantee perfection either. AFAIK, the Bonuspack does not cause crashes.

4. The "Move pilot" command did exist already before the Bonuspack, but Bonuspack has improved and augmented it to the extent that X3R since 2.0 lacks the original command and does require the Bonuspack for it.

5. I had the vague recollection that the early parts of this thread would clearly state that you do not have to restart. You certainly can add the Bonuspack to existing game.

6. All questions about third party scripts and mods should be asked in their own threads, because that is the most likely way to get the attention of the authors. Better yet, those threads hopefully do contain by now answers to most questions. Compability of Bonuspack with a mod is really a problem of that mod. For your guestion, perhaps the XTM tech support thread might provide answer.

Try a direct link to the EXE without going though the selection pages.

Works fine for me as well, so it must be something at your end, but you never know - the direct link might work.

Which page?

That doesn't work for me (I'd guess part of it is dynamically generated).

As others have said though, going via the main page seems to work fine.

Yeah - from the construct of the URL I thought it might be, but worth a try. Well, not if it doesn't work, but I thought it was

I never play so much the Bonus Pack because for me it makes the game less stable. I got some crashes to desktop with it. I have no issue with the vanilla version 2.5. I tried several times to reinstall from scratch but without any improvements.

For this reason, I don't like to use the BP altough there are some good things in it.
