21 IBL salute fired in their memory
In retrospect, it might have been better had they not made contact with the Osaka. At least that way there was a chance they were drifting in space 70-odd clicks away from your position. But as you say, Fate can be a harsh mistress.
While 'Steve' will be hard to replace I have no doubt you will bounce back from this little disappointment.

Isn't it great how X's cheating always ruins everything? Why does the AI cheat? Why doesn't it simply adhere to the rules that the player has to adhere to?
Nobody can jump to Terran Sectors, but the AI can. You can't jump into the middle of a sector, but the AI can.
It'd be nice if some day, the AI could do what ** I ** could do, and nothing more.
The bounty hunters are the most egregious example of this. M3, going at speed 16, 70km behind you. You go through a gate. Hey look, 5 seconds later, there's the bounty hunter!
Crappy Egosoft scripts.

Because the game is already too easy for most people and this would make it easier. It works out alright 99% of the time but that 1% sucks in deed.Creston wrote:Why doesn't it (AI) simply adhere to the rules that the player has to adhere to?

Strafe drive egosoft's gift to the player. Makes us believe we are interstellar top-gun!
Truth is, AI with strafe would probably own our behinds... (and then promptly crash into an asteroid)

That's mint.

I can only imagine the emotional rollercoaster ride that poor NS experienced. Hell, that last operation sounds like the plot of a Hollywood sci-fi adventure flick. Take solace in the fact that Steve and crew went out in a blaze not only of quarks and neutrinos, but glory too.

I hardly think that dieing OOS in an under-staffed, under-gunned destroyer in hostile space really counts as a proper hollywood style death.hiryu wrote:softweir wrote:Looks like your Kraken needs an "In Memoriam"-type renaming - how about Steve - So Long, and Thanks for all the Ships?

Sure it is. Leo and company died doing their jobs in a selfless manner becoming of a N-S marine.Lancefighter wrote:I hardly think that dieing OOS in an under-staffed, under-gunned destroyer in hostile space really counts as a proper hollywood style death.hiryu wrote:softweir wrote:Looks like your Kraken needs an "In Memoriam"-type renaming - how about Steve - So Long, and Thanks for all the Ships?
