Trying to buy X3:TC
Is there some reason why Amazon are no longer stocking X3:TC and Egosoft themselves are sold out. Is the 2.0 release imminent?
I can only find 1 result available on Amazon, its a little pricey at 40 GBP. I cant get any other results on Kelkoo either.
I'm just about to return home from traveling and it I haven't been home since its release. I'm a little keen to play it, to say the least.
Whats happening?

Just checked GAME for you but sorry to say they are out of stock also. Their price is only £20 and have a notification process when stock becomes available:

Nobody seems to have it at the moment oddly, as you suggest the publisher may be expecting 2.0 shortly and aren't producing any more copies until it comes out.

Yeah, steam sells worldwide and they've recently started using currencies other than US dollars (so the prices are just slightly expensive rather than laughingly so). It's £23 at the moment so slightly cheaper than PC world but quite a bit more expensive than the £15 it's likely to be when the publisher produces more copies (it was availible £18 when it had just come out.)aerick911 wrote:The steam copy works excellent as well. It was $30 or $40 USD. (can you get this outside us on steam?)
Lots of annoyances though like the long startup times, lack of update news and the steam community pop-up in the corner of every game (I made the mistake of buying Civilization IV BTS on steam and said pop-up covers the button to start a game

It does seem to be slowly getting better over the years (it doesn't crash anymore) and you are free of the CD check so you don't need the disc in the drive. (FYI Egosoft/Deep silver have mentioned their intention to remove that from the disc version about a year after release).

I have X3:TC on Steam, X3R on Disk. I was bought X3:TC as a christmass present by a friend.
You can turn the in game steam community off in the steam settings if you don't want it.
I've had precisely 0 problems using Steam so far. Got it first about a year ago for the "Orange Box". X3:TC is my "second" (counting the Orange Box bundle as 1) steam game, am considering tomb raider next.. but this is an X3 thread not a steam thread so enough of that.
Yes you can get X3:TC here on steam in the good old UK. We even have digital watches these days too

Um you do realise you can disable steam community from starting and that the steam discount on price is only for UK. The rest of Europe got a steam increase in price.NeverSnake wrote:Yeah, steam sells worldwide and they've recently started using currencies other than US dollars (so the prices are just slightly expensive rather than laughingly so). It also doesn't close properly with the game so you have to do it manually.

I dont think Steam is going to be an option as the current broadband package that my "home" has is only 1gb download a month or something. I was going to download the patch around a friends house. It seems strange that all of a sudden everyone is selling it for nearly 50 GBP. I may just have to sit and wait it out. I doubt I was going to get much game time for the 1st week or so by the time I catch up with friends & family, so its not all that bad, just a little fustrating.
