Dangit, that sucks Squiddy. It's weird how it's always something silly that kills you in this game.

My actual death came when I was trying to cap a Ryu which fired a Hammerhead missile at me. My turrets saw the missile and nuked it. That explosion nuked the Ryu, which in turn nuked me.

Killed by a flippin' TL...

I will miss your story, man :|

RIP Squiddy, and thanks so much for a most entertaining and informative story.

To die doing such a simple mission must suck big time.

Btw Slug, just out of curiosity, what was your plan for eventually capping the Pirate Destroyer, since it's a pretty tough task to get it stripped of all weapons in an M6, I think?

Take down the shields and do a gung-ho massive marine invasion, and hope it works?

Brigantines arn't that hard actually, done it twice with just a hyperion with CIGs, ~20 tornadoes, 30 drones, and 5 marines i tossed out the rear hatch.

NAY! not a tear, a shout, for Squiddy shall be remembered with honour, he fought hard and well, the dishonourable Split ordered a freighter captain to engage him, and he returned fire, that the split should have to resort to such tactics justify their desire to eliminate the Boron, shows that he was an honourable, and dangerous foe.

Squiddy McSquid will be remembered, and if there is a place for Boron in Sto'vo'kor, Even now, he will be toasting his victory amongst the Warriors already there.
Targeting and shooting Reds at every opportunity, and the occasional blue...

Thank you for your valuable assistance, we offer you a pittance in credits, and some goodwill for you covering for our incompetent defenses.

You call a dastardly Split ship captain a 'fat lady'? You insult fat ladies everywhere. :P

For all we know, ol' Squiddy had another ship nearby and transported to it at the last second. It's actually not that hard to do. In my game, I have my keys mapped such that, if I have a ship in range, all I need to do is hit Del->i->x and I'm in another ship. [Del to bring up my nearest ship, i to select in the menu bar, and x to transport to it. I can do that in less than two seconds. So you see, there is still hope for the Calamari King. Pretty slim though, I must admit.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

:o Farewell to the McSquid, our hopes and dreams did not save him from the all powerful RNG.

Thank you for an entertaining story, N-S. I hope your next venture into X3:TC is as fun and entertaining for you as this has been for us.

To a wonderful Boron,
who made me laugh when I was sad,
who taught me to unite peace and piracy,
and who showed me the universe in all beauty and complexity -

Poor Squiddy. Rest in Vacuum.

the enemy ship was destroyed with all hands.
Think back to those Saturday Morning serials at the cinema, absolutely impossible for our hero to escape, but - Lo and behold - ther next Saturday, our hero made a miraculous escape - by clinging to a piece of wreckage, jumping clear just in time or someother far-fetched, but just believable means of escape.

Even now I can imagine that Squiddy managed to leave the ship in the split-second before implosion and cling to the hull of one of the enemy craft, which will fortunately dock at the nearest shipyard to effect minor repairs allowing our hero to commandeer an unmanned and unguarded craft and, with a cheery wry grin, start all over again with nothing but a stolen craft to his name.

Will it happen?

Here's hoping!
If things don't change, they'll stay as they are.

I have a feeling its not over yet, or Mr SLUG would probly have been posting in the thread with stuff other than a split news announcement.

Maybe he jumped another ship in to the sector and escaped?
