with the xediter you can copy/change what is here but is there somewhere that explanes what each bit means or can someone explane it to me.
The reason is i robbed the osprey MK 2 from deadlys ship only mod but when i changed the turrets to my tcockpits i had to change one of the top
turrets to a right turret and one of the bottom turrets to a left turret and i'm guessing that if i could change the tship file without the xediter i would
be able to keep the two top and two bottom turrets
also i think it would be useful to know

Well, I remember there was one thread dealing with the order of the values. But you don't need to: you have all the information in X2 Editor (the offset stuff does explain the values).
But don't worry: you don't need to do it by hand. The "direction" part isn't important at all. If you want two top turrets, define one as Top and the other as Right. This works. Most important is the type of turret because it will define the weapons usuable on the turret, and of course the direction it points - I mean the model, not the definition in TShips.
I have a (long) ship with two right and two left turrets, but no top or bottom turret (they are used for the second side turrets). It works perfectly well.

Well, it can stay where it is! If you have a top turret, and define it as Right Turret in X2Editor, it is still a top turret! It shoots upwards, it's a top turret in every way - except that it is called "Right turret".
But you can try it with the TShips file. With the help of X2 Editor, it should be pretty easy to understand the line.
Look at positions 28 up, shortly after 2900;2900; it reads:
1;1;
3;4;
2;2;
4;3;
5;5;
6;6;
Does it look familiar?
It's type and position of the turret.
Compare it with the Split Raptor:
25;1;
27;4;
26;2;
28;3;
29;5;
30;6;
