Engine of Darkness,

From the limited times I've had to do it,

1) If you are running the German version of the game and you need to use an English script, you could rename the 44xxxx files to 49xxxx AND change the LangID line in the top of the line of the file from 44 to 49.

This would give you the English text in your game. It still wouldn't give you translated to German by just renaming.

2)Same goes for running an English install and using German texts, I believe.

3)Unless someone actually writes a T-file in your required language you'll have to settle for using the available languages in that script..

I wasn't actually thinking about translating but the fact that a Feature of the Plugin Manager reads "Automatic Language file creation, Can create text files in your correct language so you dont get read text errors if the plugin doesn't support your languages"

I understood it as in: "Plugin has 44xxxx textfiles (with the according LangID) and the Plugin Manager will copy that file, rename it to 49xxxx and changes the LangID"

It didn't do that.

I tried reading the Help and didn't find enough detail to confirm it does that unless the plugin author added it already.

Cycrow would have to educate us both I'm afraid.

Is there any way I can get into the spk files when I installed them in the Manager? I want to change some language Files...

as long as its setup it should create the text files automatically, you could try going into the options and setting it manually to see if that works.

it will only create them for text files that are installed in the plugin manager

Mhh It's already set to Custom (49)

I installed every script via the manager this time, even if I had to package them first. So I guess I can say "yes, they are installed in the plugin manager".


I am on XP (SP 3) and I deactivated most Services I don't need for my daily computer usage, same goes for processes.

Maybe that helps you... otherwise I'll just append my script list (if that is of any use)

And currently X3 runs with all these scripts, no idea what will happen later ingame :roll:

because it changes the signals used for those scripts, then you willno longer be able to complete any assassin or bounty missions.

because the signals will no longer trigger the finish event, but trigger the bounty event instead

LV naturally gets around this with his own scripts, but was not kind enough to add in computability for cycrow's scripts.

Ah ok, good to know... Guess I need to search something equivalent.


Now, about my initial problem -

If the renaming doesn't work by default, do I have to redownload and open the scripts with the Packager or can I somehow access them via the Manager to rename the languages files?

the renaming should happen when you either,
A) Install a new package
B) Change the language


you could test it without reinstalling anything, Just try setting it to a different ID, any id, it doesn't really matter, then when you goto OK to close the options menu, the new text files should be created. So you can check if they have been or not.

you can also goto the files list, in the advanced menu, and it should display each package has having multiple text files, the original, plus the newly created on should both appear on that list.

doing this should determine where abouts its failing, if it is

for the 3rd pic, its the "View Scripts", not game resources.

view scripts shows you the actual files that are connected with the scripts, rather than a comparasion like game resources does. And that just shows the text files, not the different languages

Oh geez Sorry that was my bad... I was to dumb to notice there where sections...

judging from that i would say its not creating the text files correctly.

try going into the options again and setting the custom to something other than 49 and 44, preferable something not used to it will show up easier, like 99

then goto save, then, from the 2nd pic, http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l178/ ... ness/2.jpg

then go back to the view scripts option and see what it displays

It works after! restarting the plugin manager, else it won't work either. Here are some Pics of each step I had to do in that case (I did everything as you said before):

works, for whatever reason...

Trying to do the same with 49 does not.


On another Note, did something change? Some ships from apricot do not work anymore (I got the Big Mother, but the rest does not work) and I can clearly remember I've played with them last december.

I downloaded them from http://www.blackpanthergroup.de/x3/XSP-Schiffe/

They aren't shown ingame (I want to spawn them with LV's Cheats, to make sure they work as intended)

It merged three seperate Mods... Now guess what, X3 crashes while loading. Don't ask me how and why it merged them but it obviously did.

The only reason that I could pull out of my nose, would be the fact that every cat file was (not sure, atleast realspace was called 10.cat when I packed it) called 10.cat

If I activate one of them, it shows every of these mods as 10.cat . If I activate realspace backgrounds alone, it does neither crash, nor work. If I add low poly rods it does crash.

If I use low poly rods alone it does not crash.

I don't want to know what happens if I use EMP, but I guess it works if I use it alone, and crashes if I add another of these mods...

Quick question. Ive just started a new game, should I enable custom wares to be safe? Im using XTM.

Ive got Self Repairing Hull Tech installed, but I can never find the actual item in game. I can find plenty of kits, but no actuall items. Is this because I dont have allow custom wares enabled? I just dont know what custom wares does, so I dont know if I should enable it or not, I also dont know if it will break my game with XTM.
