I like X3, but it has some serious gameplay flaws which absolutely need to be addressed in a retail expansion.

There is huge potential left in X3, a new story is a small capitalisation on that potential.
Very true. Please, oh god please let them have revamped the unholy mess that is their UI. That's the greatest barrier to playing X3- it's way higher of a learning curve than any other game I've played in a long time.

If I wasn't busy on other things, I'd have mapped out a full UI upgrade for them already. I bet I can get the entire thing down to 3 clicks or less, with most ship and fleet commands available right on the sector and universe maps. But, RL comes first :(

and so it begins...

Very much like the inky black I hope they keep some of that less can be more - especially if contrasted with other more colourful systems. 8)

Ships somebody on the team needs to get to grips with that stick a spike on it fetish. :)

The X like bit at the back also suggests to me Xenon or terra formers as Atkara said. However remember these were originally designed by those two eyed monkey men!

X3 no longer possible to order from here........................

Front page only X2 Collectors edition is available.
they have had almost 1000 years to terraform Aldrin, why are they all still sitting around a giant rock?

Great news.

So... I'm waiting for:

1. UI ( sorry but never seen worse )
2. 3D World ( not 2D cubic maps )
3. Planet landing ( simple but necessary )
4. Station walking ( simple but necessary )
5. Plot
6. More, and more complex ( like EVE-Online )

or it will be X3 Reunion v. 1.01 ( btw. still alive only thanks modders ).

1. I HAVE seen worse
2. Do you have a 10ghz system?
3. NOT necessry, and definately NOT simple
4. see above, as well as a useless afectation
5. of course
6. Eve-Online has systems you couldn't fly from one end to the other even WITH SETA (150AU) in one sitting. And Eve is 3rd person, not first like X games.

Didn't forget it even for a second. What led me to think they might be TF variants, is the following:
  • 1) The new ships -size-wise- seem to me like M3s and M5s respectively.

    2) The corresponding Terran ship models are already in the game. And I find it unlikely that Egosoft will change the existing models.

    3) They look like re-fashioned "rocket-ships". Much like the current RL designs for ion-propelled spacecrafts. Something that could fit perfectly in a Terraformer caste, who 'decided' to simply improve upon the original designs, instead of radically altering them.

    4) In X3-Reunion, it was made clear that the current Xenon presence in the X-Universe does not represent the entirety of the Terraformers.

*Wants this right now*.

At least in the mean time we'll be getting sins of a solar empire, a big space empire game. I'll play that until this comes out.

the only "simple" way to do it is by using stationary backgrounds or cutscenes.
which would be pointless.

Station walking is not necessary, and in fact have been rarely done right in games like this.
So lets only have it if it's really needed and well polished.

Planet landing is not an enhancement but a whole another game. That's if done right, that is.

Almost certainly not!

They said new ships and new sectors in the announcement.
3. What is the minimum requirements?(I hope it runs with a 128mb video card :D)
We won't know until much later. Probably not much different from the existing game.

Cut scenes and planet landing I have to agree with but with regards to stations, I think backgrounds and locations in stations would add a lot.

I am not talking FPS here but an observation deck (Sooo much devs could do here alone), bar/NPC interaction deck, Comecial deck ect all with nice back drops and NPCs.
Some of these back drops could have windows out into space (actualy whats happening in the sector), some windows may show the fab internals producing products, astronauts/workers gliding past/working.

I am not saying we have to go compleatly back to the internal docking type stations but so much has been ignored regarding development here.
I might be putting forward quite a bit of implimentation to be done here, but I feel it offers the best bang for your buck regarding the logistics and the pros and cons.

A simple backdrop would be a start in the right direction for at least some
on board station activities.

I think all of these things are on DEV but if anybody would be so kind to point one out here thats not, Ill put it up.

I don't see how you can tell that...the main ship could be 5km long with the camera being a LONG way away.

Looking at it again it looks like only two variants the ship in the foreground look to be the same as those in the background, only at a distance.

Reminds me of father TED with the farmyard toy plastic cow, looking over the field and explaining to Dougal this is small those other cows (the real ones) are far away...

To me the big one looks like a capitol ship due to placement of some of the sticky out bits. However, I agree with pjknibbs it is impossible to be sure of the scale.

Alright, I have some serious questions for the developers:

1. Will the current X3 bonus pack be installable into this upcoming X3 game?

2. Have you decided to leave gate travel animations out or have you decided to put them back in?

3. Are cockpits planned or are they being left out again?

4. Are our current saved games going to work?

5. Have you decided to implement some sort of BBS mission/article partitioning/categorization system or will we still be forced to sift through random numbers of unrelated BBS missions in hopes of finding something that we can possibly undertake?

Thanks!

If Ego are to form (and I AM guessing here).

1. Those features that will be carryed over to the new game will come with the new game. You wont need said bonus pack.

2. See NDA.

3. See NDA.

4. Since there are new sectors in the game, then no.

5. Good point but see NDA.

Sorry I am not that helpfull realy but those who have this information cant tell you, but you can be asured of answers 1 and 4 if Ego plat to form.

Well, in one of the X³-patches were also sectors added and the savegames are compatible. ;) That shouldn't be a limitation...
