The Terrans don't exactly have high ground to stand on when it comes to the Kha'ak. They DID create the Xenon.
And remember, the Split like war (Although they may not like war against the Terrans) and the Teladi like any chance for prrrofitsss, so the only ones who are going to be especially angry at them at the Argon and Boron, and that's nothing new.

Well I would guess with a United Space Navy like they have then they are the one world type. Although interestingly they don't seem to fit the "One Nation" stereotype like a lot of space shows. Ie. They don't seem overwhelmingly American.
One interesting concept to mull over. If there is a conflict there must have been a futhering of technology in the other races or a weakening in the Terran position. Else how can there be a conflict considering the vast power of the Terrans the last time we saw them? At that power level they would steam-roller.
Anyway, my guess about the conflict is it might have something to do with the Xenon.

Hmm, it's make sence, Terran is very paranoia about Xenon, they dont have any enemies in space, so they spend major time of reseach of weapons, ship design, ect while try to build fleet, after fleet and upgrade them whole time before and after Brennan (Forget spelling Julian's Dad) jump and gone till they found out Xenon is weaking than before thank to 5 races at least.

Just because it's a one-sided fight doesn't mean it's not a conflict.black_waltz wrote:Well I would guess with a United Space Navy like they have then they are the one world type. Really though, I think there's going to be more to it than just the Terrans. First off, if they wanted to wipe out the Xenon, what, exactly, would be bad about that? Nobody even cares except for some random comment by the Sohnen about not killing them, but nobody is going to stop them. Most would probably help them. Not much of a conflict there.
Beyond that though, you don't just burst into the galaxy like a fireball and start fights. The Terrans seem somewhat reserved and thoughtful. They aren't like the Split, where first contact is when their fist connects with someone else's face. If the Terrans do start trouble, it won't be though wantonly attacking, I don't think.
It is possible that the Paranid would freak out about the Terrans and the possible shift in power in the region, though. If the Terrans and Argon come to terms and settle up with each other, that would basically mean the Paranid and Split would lose their position of power.
It's also entirely possible that the Terrans could turn on the Argon. It would go something like this.
Argon: Hi Terrans!
Terra: Get lost, xeno filth.
Argon: But we're humans, too!
Terra: Oh yeah? Hmm..okay. Well, we're the government for humanity.
Argon: Um, we have our own government.
Terra: Aw, that's cute. Seriously though, humans fall under our control.

The X-Universe races are technologically inferior to the Terrans so there's small chance of conflict there. Barring a universe wide technology jump, the Terrans would have to initiate any conflict. Of course the Terran fleet might be tiny in reality and all the ships they had were sent to defend the gate. Which would theoretically leave them open to being overwhelmed by a larger force even if technologically inferior.
This leads me to the conclusion that the conflict won't be between the Terrans and X-Universe races. It will probably have something to do with Sargon who was trying to open a gate to who-knows-where. Even if I'm wrong, it seems like it would have to be an external force anyway as the current races aren't much of a threat to the Terrans.
I wish I could remember where I was reading about the Ancients and how they were manipulating the gates and race growth/conflicts. From what I remember they wouldn't like a new gateway to anywhere unapproved. So why are they leaving the gate to Earth open? I believe Sargon has a back-up plan for a gate into the X-Universe. If we assume that the reason he wants a gate is to invade and knows how to get around the Ancients, they might be leaving the Earth gate open so the Terrans will help the X-Universe races fight against them.
Of course it could be something simple like a conflict between the Terrans and anti-goner terrorists or something. But that doesn't fit with the X-Universe style IMO.

My guess is that play.com made the name up based on their own limited and undetailed speculation. "How did X3 end? Oh, maybe they'll call it something like 'X3-Terran Conflict', put that on the placeholder".
Even if it is the real name I wouldn't bet on it staying, anything can change between now and release, it hasn't even been announced!

I don't quite see why you think this assumption is valid. Technologically inferior nations initiate conflict with superior ones all the time in the Real World, I see no reason why this wouldn't happen in the X universe. Sheer bravado might impel the Split to pick a fight with the new boys on the block, for example...Phasic wrote:The X-Universe races are technologically inferior to the Terrans so there's small chance of conflict there. Bait and wait
Aha! Reminds me of 'chumming', then sticking the thing with a pointy spear transponder. Something for nothing!esd wrote:Alternatively, Blizz orchestrated it so that the information was there, then plucked away... causing people to talk about it.Gothsheep wrote:What lesson can we take from this? Rampant speculation on the forums about accidentally leaked information can, in fact, force game companies to make announcements earlier than planned!
They may well have simply been using a known marketing trick

There is something not right with this. First of all this is not a news article, they are actually taking pre orders. I dont know play.com really well but the author of this topic said he shopped there before. So, unless they are scam, would they collect money for a game wont be released.
Second, the realize date is a year later. Who would order a game in a year advance? And even if there was a game called Terran Conflict, who would put it sale one year advance?
I think Egosoft should do two things. If it is legit, egosoft should announce it. If egosoft didn't authorize them for taking pre orders, egosoft should get in touch with them and take it off that site.

Just to correct you there, esd, it could well be the East... afterall, it was the East who launched out into the X-Universe. Just look at all the Asian symbology and text (I believe it's Japanese?) plastered over Argon ships.esd wrote:Who's to say the United Space Navy is the only space fleet in existance? For all we know, the Terrans we met were the West.
The universal trade language in the X-Universe is also Japanese.
It appears Japan may be Earth's superpower, or maybe just one of them.

I bet my money on that the Terrans get tired of hanging out in Heretics end and start a 'EMP snowball fight' between them where the sole survivor M1 decides to go out and find more playmates to play with.
Or something else like that lame-excuse-for-adding-more-cool-stuff.
Hopefully it will be an expansion, not an entirely new game.
