I was able to identify the textures from the list the Imported suplied (there were in dds\) from memory.

Looks like you've fixed already... will give it a go.

Using V1.82 - just tried the Sith Fighter and JediStarFighter from XFP V0.3.1, no luck on the Textures... still won't find them. As before, I can manually select the Jedi ones from the list and they work, but I can't find correct textures for the Sith in the list. Without picking a texture the ship is all black.

Tried some other ships and they work okay even without picking any texture for them (like the Broadsword)

Oh BTW - The Ship Installer (V1.82) isn't reading the ShipCreator MOD to see what is already installed (I think). I ran the Installer, installed 2 ships, exited then went back in and there was nothing there (MOD still worked with the two ships too).

it doesn't read the mod to find out the ships. It does that by reading the ships.dat files in the X3/ShipInstall directory

I would like to warn everyone to BACKUP your ShipInstall directory before installing v1.82. Updating it, will overwrite your current configuration.
As a result, installed ship list will be clean, and there's no way to restore it back.

Regards

If you could provide me a link to previous versions of ship installer, I can make some tests, and monitor what exactly happens.

I think I put that wrong.

When I use V1.82 Ship Installer it installs ships fine.
When I use it a second time the previous ships I just installed aren't there (in Ship Installer). It seems to think the Ship Creator mod is empty.

Looks like 'edath' had a similar problem here... http://forum2.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=157778

V1.82 was downloaded from the Main link.

Hi,

It seems that ships.dat file is overwritten, whenever the program is started. It is possible that CREATE_ALWAYS flag is specified within some file open function, or the file is overwritten for some reason (maybe a bug).

The procedure in case of simple execute and shutdown of the programme looks like this:
1. The file is being Opened
2. Closed
3. Created/Opened with Overwrite flag
4. 56 bytes of data is written
5. closed on exit.

Regards

PS. Great work anyway.

Cycrow,

Just did an update via the inprogram updater. Seemed to install fine. Went to open a Ship file it then asks for a game directory. I click on the HDD that has it but it wont expand the HDD files. I then canceled out and the Ship creator opened.

I then open a ship file from the creator progam it again asks for a X3 directory and wont expand the HDD directory.

Not sure if this is on my computer or an issue with the Program. Trying a reinstall from full program.

galetei_tf: The file writing doesn't work like that, when writing the data, it always writes over the existing files.

What it does, is when the program starts, it reads the file and stores it all in memory, then when you close the program, it writes the current memory back to the file.

The most likly cause would be, its not reading the file in for some reason, so it doesn't display any ships, when it writes the file, it will then write en aempty files.

ill have a look when i get chance to

Cutty: Not sure y its not letting you browse, the hard drive browsing is handled completly by the API. Does it expand any directory ?
its possible its having trouble reading ur drive for some reason.
u could also try double clicking, that might cause it to open

ShipManager Desaster

Post by TrippDoc »

Oh what's that? Since Version 1.75 is more then one thing mad or wrong.

Version 1.80 kills my Shipcreator Mod? Many months playing for
nothing!!! I'm very disappointed.

Version 1.81 cannot install new ships to a clean vanilla X3.
tships isn't CORRECT Type mismatches

Version 1.82 is the same no ships. Tships gives error in X3-Editor.

AND the Shipmanager-Uninstaller from 1.82 has a TROJAN-VIRUS
in it. By the way I load it from your Side!

I'm ill from this debacle.

all of those problems i have not had, when i was testing each version, i installed 100's of ships, and never had a problem at all with any of them.

so until i find the problem its impossible for me to fix it.

as for a trojan, there is differently no virus in the installer

The virus 'Trojan.Downloader.Delf.UO' is detected in the
UN-INSTALLER from the shipmanger through my antivirusprogram.
is it a wrong message? Are you sure?

Okay you lucky boy sorry man without problems!

But I had problems and it helps me not that you haven't one.

There is an error in the tships and I don't know why.

Is it possible that the problem is that you use an english
and I use a german version from x3-1.4.3?

the anti virus is most likly picking up a false positive, i heard some anti virus detect NSIS as a virus.

the point about having no problems is that it makes it very difficult for me to actually track the cause so i need more information to be able to find the error.

if you send me the ships.dat file from the ShipInstall directory, as well as the TShips file, i can then look and find out whats actually causing the problem
