incidentally I've taken to using the Microsoft Color Control Panel Applet for Windows XP - the ICC profile for my CRT monitor I obtained from it's manufacturer (- it's a 17in StudioWorks 775N ) ensures that the color displayed on-screen matches those originally supplied..
most people simply tune their monitors to please their own eyes, but by virtue of an internationally agreed standard, it's now possible to get an even balance of RGB between different hardware elements like monitors, scanners and printers, etc.. now it's possible to ensure that a green is as green as it ought to be, regardless of the hardware involved..
Whilst MS appears to be considering it as a standard part of their new operating system - it is currently available for Windows XP via their downloads site..
