well, when did u last overtune ur ship ?
the is a few game hours between between when you got ur last overtune and when they start to appear again

I Overtuned a few times and there were many messages but then I started a new game and now it doesn't work anymore. I had also problems with the Mercenaries guild but after loading a few times it worked.

Q.

for the script to show up more often, do you change the $LastOffer=7200 to a lower number ?

also I never seem to see the speed overtune but I do see the rudder often.

they should both change up

the $lastOffer is how long you affter to wait between accepting offers

if you have an offer at a station, and dont accept it, another one can show up soon after, but once you accept one, it will take at least a few games hours b4 another one will appear

so its best to play the game for abit and they should start to show up again

that's weird I always see Rudders but never speed increases, I have a Pirate Falcon that goes 130/ms.

wwell, if u bought a speed upgrade recently, you wont c another one showing up for awhile, but if you havn't bought the rudder, they will keep showing up until you do

I bought 4 rudders, but still no speed. So I won't see a speed until I buy the latest rudder offer ?

I don't need anymore rudders is there anyway I can change the occurance of the speed to show up more often than the rudder ?

do I change the "$LastOffer=7200" to a lower number for it to occure more often ?

I have a pirate Falcon that goes 130/ms

Ignore all of the above, I just re-installed the script and lowered the LastOffer to 100 and it works now. I'll change it back to 7200. I just wanted to make sur that it was working. Again thanks for everything, you really made my game more enjoyable now.

the speed and rudder are independant of each other ;)

the lastoffer is how long to wait between offers in seconds

Hi there,
Really cool Idea for a script, but I think there are a few tweaks that should be done.

1. As far as I can tell, there is no cap on the upgrades? You can keep upgrading forever? My M5 is travelling at 700 ms now.... Thats just a bit silly really, maybe if you changed it so you could only do one upgrade per stat, EG. 1 speed upgrade, 1 cargo upgrade etc. I think that would be awesome.

2. It's way too cheap. I upgraded my M5 to 700 ms for only 40,000 odd credits (3 BBS items)

3. It comes up too often, I think this should be either more rare, Or available ONLY at pirate bases. I think the later would be so good, Dodgy mechanics at pirate bases that are not licenced or allowed to work anywhere else...

4. Ability to fit a limited amount of other weapons to your ships. EG, the dodgy mechanic could take that Kyon Emitter in your hold and weld it onto your ships belly :)

EDIT: I just read a few of the above posts... It supposed to only show up once a few hours?? I got 3 in ONE docking run in Seizewell! All of about 30 seconds.

EDIT 2: Idea number 5. Let the AI ships use this, now that, would be awesome.

i'vve been thinking of making it either start to cause slight hull damage when ur ships r moving at insane speeds, or make the tunings break and get removed slowly over a certain speed, but not thought what im going to do on it yet

the price for the upgrades is based directly fro mthe cost of ur ship, basically it costs half what ur ships would normally cost to buy, and this price increases each time you do it

no, no, no... don't do that. the high price is good enough. and if it damaged the hull, i would use the self repairing hull tech to automatically repair it. money should buy anything I want in the game, even overtunes...

Cycrow... Very good idea. I love that Idea. It would be a lot more realistic, As the fastest ships in X3 are supposed to travel at around 500ms (Arrow/Starburst) and they dont have sheilds or anything to accomodate the massive engines.

Definately love the idea of damage and breakages over time. I think you should even have random events where serious problems occur (It explodes and damages your ship)

My discoverer travels at 890 ms now lol. I love this mod, just wish that there were some realistic drawbacks, based on the feel of the game as it is, if you see what I mean.

I kind of like the idea that it breaks apart at some time as well. Kind of like how 'overtuned' mopeds behave in real life (Norwegian mopeds are tuned down, and it's a 'sport' to tune them back up - but risky - both with the law and with the engine :P ).

Anyway, there should be a rather high limit. The race ships (like the Arrow) have a max speed of about 1300 m/s. M5s in X2 (Pegasus) had a max speed of about the same. My Nova Raider has a current speed of about 280. I feel this is just about enough, but will probably buy a few more upgrades.

Damage suggestion:

M5: 1500 m/s
M4: 800 m/s
M3: 400 m/s
M6: 300 m/s

... or something similar, depending on ship...? And maybe the shields went down as well if you were going at full speed at the highest levels? Energy drain...

By the way, would it be an idea to intruduce cargo space tunings as well? This could make even the Perseus usable as a solo ship.

unfortuatly cargo space requires hard modding and not possible to dynamically change like the engine and rudder

i like the idea of reducing the shields at full speed thou, it means it wont actaully cost the player anything but adds abit more risk of using the full speed

of course, would only happen after a number of tunings, and not straight away

I like the idea. Maybe it's possible to add a written warning to the level of upgrade that will cause damage.

Just like "A warning stranger: It's possible to further increase your engine power, but it has already been tuned so high that the next step could harm your hull integrity..." :wink: .

Liking the idea of realistic 'problems' like shield strength decreasing over time when higher speeds are used, helps to balance it out a bit more, rather than just costing a lot.

Just a thought (Sorry if it's been mentioned before) but what about the possibility to overtune the shield generator as well? Since it's not technically possible tune up at Equipmet docks, maybe only a set amount of overtunes possible for each ship. (Maybe 1 or 2...) Tuning up the Shield Generator may then allow the player to travel fast as well... or is this not feasable? (Sorry, I don't know a lot about scripting, so don't know what is possible and what isn't :oops: I do plan to try and teach myself one day... I have the MSCI guidebook on my HD and everything... :roll: )

unfortuatly theres no way to change the shield generator power via scripts, this has to be done via a mod which will then change all the ships of that class and not just one ship

Hehe, I would suggest you put a list in the first post containing what CAN be done and what CAN'T be done :D . So people would probably stop asking. :wink:
