this is a great script.
but i agree that it does unbalance certain ships (centaur at 157 max speed anyone)?
the speed multiplier is too great and the cost too little.
the idea to increase the cost based on type of ship makes sense, also cut the speed boost by a third. and perhaps make the base price double everytime you use it.
that way you'd be more careful about using it.

Why not make it a time-limited offer? As in one time only.
Is that scriptable?
If not can you make the percentage factor on itself? Like the first time gives you 25% increase, the second time gives you 25% of that initial 25% so you'd end up after 2 goes with 100% + 25% + 6.25% (25% of 25%- I think) of normal max speed.
ANother thought: now that shield and laser energy is much more a part of the X-physics, you could make the boost cheaper and more like a temporary thing with the drawback that your laser energy drops to zero as does your shield energy (or at least shield recharge rate so you don't get killed when you crash into things or get shot trying to leave a fight).
I'd kind of prefer it like that actually as an afterburner, sort of. Even though I'm loving the fast ship it feels a little cheated/blagged.

Always welcome! Cheap and filling!

I've got it for one ship but now, in any other ship, I see the BBS item from time to time but none of the boxes work to let you answer.
Actually the same happened in my original tuned ship. I just don't seem able to get it a second time.
Feh! So much for a superswift squadron...

Cut the speed boost by a third???!! If you use the script on the standard Mercury at 100m/s, your new top speed is only 115m/s. You want to lower it even further so you gotta pay close to 1 million credits for a new flashy top speed of 105m/s? loljanonol wrote:this is a great script.

There has to be an actual use for it, why spend 600,000c for 15m/s more when you can just get a whole new ship with 100m/s, i.e. doubling the traders instead of just increasing 1 trader by 15m/s?

i think removing the tunings after time or use might be a good idea, so the more hours ur in flight the more ur tunings reduce until ur at the max of the ship
you should also be able to add more than one tuning to each ship, it worked fine for me, i manage to add a few to a disco, and got it going at like 750m/s

I've changed the script to have differnet prices per class, these are the prices im thinking of using
whats everyones thoughts ?
TS Class: 150'000
TP Class: 300'000
TL Class: 20'000'000
M1 Class: 40'000'000
M2 Class: 40'000'000
M3 Class: 1'000'000
M4 Class: 300'000
M5 Class: 50'000
M6 Class: 6'000'000
I've also increase the lower bound for tunings now so u get more chance of getting higher speeds, its now 35-50% of max tunings instead of 25-50%

Since yesterday I've been able to get it for other ships but haven't found it twice for the same one yet.
However I think it's fixed for me with that update.
Looking at the prices it does get very expensive for bigger ships though. For an M3 it's about 40% of sale price. By the time you get to TL it's from 60-110% depending on the TL.
Would it be possible to make it a fraction of the ships' prices rather than a flat fee?

You know in X-Tension you could get unlimited upgrades to your cargo, engine tunings and turnings, but since you bought them one at a time they seemed to be individually priced per tuning
this is a good idea but should be implemented at pirate stations only, giving you reason to go to them other than selling slaves

ok, the links should be working again now
just having dns problems
the problem with it not working right on the same ship could be an error in the quest scripting, its the first script to use it and still dont know how everything works
i roughly based the prices on the price of the ship classes in the argon shipyard, i wanted to do it by a percnetage value of the ship, but unfortually i dont see a way to get easily getting the cost the ship without searching shipyards for the ships and getting the price from there
