Another Joystick Problem
Hi, I've been reading through the forums for a while now looking for the answer to this with no luck.
I have a Logitech WingMan Cordless joy pad that worked great with X2, so I figured I could use it on X3. While for the most part it works fine there are some issues that are very annoying.
Its all about the throttle control. This particular joy pad has a throttle slider that I normally use for games, it allows me to set the throttle at roughly what I want and leave it there. In this case I can't do that because the throttle is permanently bound to my right joystick, the same stick I normally use to roll the ships in game.
This is very annoying as when ever I go to roll to perform a maneuver i unset the throttle.
At the very least I want to know if there's a way I can unbind the second sticks y axis from the throttle control (and I'll settle with using the keyboard for the throttle) but I'd like to be able to use the throttle when I set it in the control settings.
Also the D-pad on my control does not seem to work reliably in this game.
Just as a note, I have the 1.2 patch, and also just re-installed it as I got the patch on Friday, but that still did not help.
I can't find the pad on the logitech site anymore (must be a few years old now) but here is a review link: http://reviews.designtechnica.com/review1441.html
My system specs are:
P4 3.0GHz ht
768MB DDR RAM
200+Gigs free space
Radion 9800
USB 2.0
Anything else you need please let me know and I'll post.
Please help me with this annoying issue, otherwise for me so far the game has been ok (bug wise) *touches wood*.

There are a few of us in the same situation.
See here. http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=96901
The Logitech site does have drivers for the joypad. I downloaded the latest ones last night. They still don't solve the problems with using this gamepad with X3 though, but I'm sure Egosoft are working as fast as they can to address this issue.
Edited to put in redirected link.

I got it too though mine is cordful (?).
My throttle doesn't work at all and my right stick works on the rudder and throttle lists in game.
However you can adjust individual axes for game controls. So for one stick I had throttle as up/down and roll on the left/right motion. I moved it ot the D-pad as I hit too many diagonals but you get the picture.
I look forward to this being sorted as mine also keeps unsetting the autopilot.

Always welcome! Cheap and filling!

Joystick Problems
Hi,
I have the X3 DVD and have installed all updates. My computer passes all requirements. My joystick shows under Imput Devices at game start up.
Have installed X3Update1.0_to_1.2.01 after a brand new install.
My joystick is a simple one, Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro (USB).
My Joystick POV hat still does not work!! Furthermore I do not remember when it did work.
I have look at Options, Gameplay menus and have found nothing to get my POV hat working.
Other than the POV hat, my joystick performs well.
Please help me get the POV hat working.
Thanks,
beast-master

You can change what the pov hat does in the game options (the menu next to save or load game). The first tab allows you to save your game configuration profile (A Very Good Idea). The next tab allows you to change z, x & y axis on both joy sticks.
I think the third tab (scroll down half way) has pov hat settings.
I have had to configure my right joystick to up = increase speed.
down = decrease speed
left = roll left
right = roll right
Once this was done tho I found that the seta only worked when I was on auto pilot. It wouldn't (and still doesn't) if the game pad is in use.
Oh I have the complete box set and am playing X3 reunion with the 2.5 patch installed on a vanilla game. (the above is for this game only as the game pad worked in X2).
