[SCRIPT] Improved Boarding X3FL : V1.00 : 2023-08-29

Improved boarding adds the Boarding Transporter for an alternative way of boarding. As well as the option to increase the number of marines on NPC ships.

NOTE: other features from previous versions are already included in X3FL

Installing:
  • Image

    Install via Plugin Manager
:arrow: NPC Ship Marines:
  • Adds marines on board NPC ships. In the standard game, not all ships will have defending marines, this will add them making boarding more challenging
    You can configure how many ships will have marines on board from the Configuration Menu.

    You also need to activate this option in the Artifical Life Settings menu.
    Once enabled, it'll take abit of time for the marines to get added
:arrow: Boarding Transporter Extension:
  • This is a new upgrade for your ship that links to the Transporter Device.
    You can purchase it from all good Split Equipment Dock.

    Once installed on your ship, you can assign a hotkey to use. The device can only be used on the ship your currently flying.

    You can only activate the device when the shields are low and you are within 1KM of the target.

    Once activated, it will take time to complete, with the current progress being displayed as a subtitle. Once it reaches 100%, the marines will be on board and will start to fight through the decks to the core
    The time it takes depends on your marines mechanical skill, the top 3 will be used.

    During the boarding process, you must remain within 1km of the target ship and keep thier shields down. If you stray too far, or the shields raise too high, the process will stall and start to reverse if you leave it too long.
    If you do no resume after it reaches below 0%, the marines will be beamed into obvlivion and the process will fail.

    You will have visual information displayed for the whole process.

In barracks across the commonwealth, rumours have been spreading about marines who disappear after failed boardings with the recently developed Boarding Transporter Extension. Hey Cycrow, sorry to bother you here too, but the script doesn't work for me. Instead of the regular name I got some "ZA_EMP_BLANK_WARE_CUSTOM18_17", which is found in the Split docks. I tried to use it anyway, but while the hotkey works the boarding never proceed, it's always at 0% progression. The rest works - getting far away stops the boarding, same for shields, etc.

I'm using FLXRM in addition to Old Plots and the unofficial patch, I really don't get what's wrong :(

Make sure you have the latest version of the plugin manager (1.84) and make sure it's closed before you run the game.

The ZA_EMP* is generally just a text issue.

For the transporter, make sure you are close and preferably have decent mechanics (at least 3) as that determines the speed. It could just be very slow

Unfortunately, still not working. Tried with maxed marines against a spawned M6 and a regular TL: it doesn't matter how much I wait in range, the percentage stays at 0%.

If it can helps, when I destroyed the ships Betty said that the boarding failed against "unknown object"

did you keep the shield down, as they need to be kept down the whole time until the marines are on board

Yup, even tried spawning ships without shields. No effect.

what message does it display while boarding ?
there is 3 different messages that shows the percentage.

the only things that will prevent it from going up is range and shields.

otherwise, the only other thing i can think of is if the library script is missing.
Make sure you have the Cycrow Libraries installed, and check if the file, lib.cycrow.sortmarines is in the addon2/scripts

Ah, there you go: I have the libraries, but the file is missing! Huh, tried to reinstall the libraries, but to no effect. Is there a zip version of the libraries?

Im sorry if i necro this months old thread. but i have the same problem as the guy above me. when i play this game in german, the software name is "ZA_EMP_BLANK_WARE_CUSTOM18_17". and when i try to board a ship with it, then the boarding progress on the bottom screen says: "ReadText9604-33". i mean it technically works. but it doesn't show the percentage of the transport. But when i switched the game over to english in steam it works fine and intended with the correct software name and the percantage on the bottom of the screen during transport. is there something i am missing?. I mean i installed the Unofficial patch version 1.3.13. the libraries 1.12 and i've updated the Plugin Manager lite to 1.87. is this a bug with the german version? or did i do something wrong? I mean could be that it's only working in the english version. but i wanted to ask just in case

Same problem here.

Updated the files today, switched to english (even my wife is annoyed :D ) and progress ist staying 0%. Of course shields below 5% and within 1000m.

I've no idea, what's wrong.
