They are intentionally very rare and, unless the devs have changed it, once you collect all of your (first) crystal source (of any type) in an asteroid field, you will only find cheap purple crystals in that field afterwards until you have been somewhere far away from it for a while.

Faulty Logic VII far south, take care of the mines, you will find A LOT of shiny Asteroids

After I stopped harvesting the nodes I got it shortly after by looking around astroids with F3 in Atiya's Misfortune I
