What features are missing in X3?
People keep on saying that X3 is mission features, but they never list these features. What are these missing features? I already know about cockpits, so don't talk about that one. The benchmark has no affect on the game, so don't talk about that one either. I just want to know what features that are not in the game.

It has worked for me a few times... I use nearby police ships as moving targets when I buy new weapons
even once when i got caught smuggling space fuel, i took a shot at the guy, then sent the comm and he left me alone

strange.
this has never worked for me..
(however.. my usual "not entirely accidental" skirmishes usually involve a torpedo, and a nearby Destroyer, so there isnt realy anyone above that who can sort it out,
(and if i was a lowly police man with a scout ship, i wouldnt be in a hurry to mediate between a trigger happy bomber & a seriously narked battleship either..)

I also still haven't seen any dynamic BBS messages relating to events in the universe, or seen NPCs build their own factories. But I could just have missed it happening.
These are all things the developers talked about in interviews or previews that don't appear to be in game, or things missing from X2.

AFAIK, there's never been talk about planet landing in X3's feature list. It's more on the player's wish list that one day we can land on planets. Atm, a lot of things are missing. I'm looking forward to the next patch. For the mean time, i'm just exploring and building up my empire.Foaloke wrote:You may prove me that i am wrong, but i remember that someone was telling about implementing an ability to fly into planets atmosphere/land on them. I just can't find any developer note about cancelling this, but noone actually sad anything about this after release.

Ah, I guess looking at the map it just doesn't seem as many as I was expecting. Still, not really a big deal to me... I'm much more disappointed with the BBS stuff myselfpjknibbs wrote:That DID make it in--there are around a dozen new sectors; it's just you have to go to the ends of the Universe to find them!Elenkis wrote:> "A significant number of new sectors added to the universe"

TerrorTrooper: Worked for me - pirated a Boron freighter, and when a few hostile police came over (the first one anyway) - I commed him, told him it was an accident and he stopped being hostile.TerrorTrooper wrote: >The in game tool tip telling you to speak to police or military if your shots go astray to cancel hostile acts?? Sadly the other one came in, and when I tried the same, just didn't believe me. He happened to bring in quite a few friends, so they all died needlessly (the Buster rocks!).
I do think that highlights a problem though - people assume it's missing if they haven't witnessed it so far... Not saying the features are in by any stretch, clearly some aren't - but hmm.
Not played enough game hours to be able to comment on this...TerrorTrooper wrote: > "Race Wars" turned out to be nothing more than the odd mild skirmish.
I also heard that there were 23 new sectors... I guess I was mistaken, but I thought that came from Bernd? Perhaps not.
I don't remember ever reading about this one, I remember it being suggested a plenty... but not actually being stated that it was to be implemented. Any links would be nice, because if it is "to come" in the patch - then i best get building my own stations first!!!!Elenkis wrote:I also still haven't seen any dynamic BBS messages relating to events in the universe, or seen NPCs build their own factories. the ability to change the gun sight from the the far to large one thats defult.
lack of bbs missions.
better keyboard response the keyboard responds mutch worse than x2.
wars
decent smugerling runs still only weed and wiskey
not enough little purple piramids to hunt
m6 dumed down to mutch m4 and m3 to close in capability.
mobile minning
ability to buy power boosters for wepons.
still the game has far more scope for improvement so hang on in egosoft.

The developers have talked about it a lot. In fact here's an interview from one month ago:I don't remember ever reading about this one, I remember it being suggested a plenty... but not actually being stated that it was to be implemented. "Greg Kingston: This has changed significantly. Messages will be a lot more interactive, and rather than static news, it will reflect what is going on around the player in the universe -- reporting, for example, that there's been a natural disaster in one sector of space. The same goes for missions too -- there is far more variety to attempt now."
This was only a month ago so I guess it could be the game, but if so it's rare as I've been checking every BBS message I can and so far I just keep on seeing the same old generic messages that I've seen hundreds of times before (4 days of game time played). A couple of times I've seen messages about new stations being built in sectors, but every time I've checked the sector and it's turned out to be false.
It could certainly be that it's restricted to only the highest ranks (I was hesitant to include it and hopefully they will turn up and prove my suspicions wrong). I'm currently up to Warrior rank and will keep searching as I continue rising. I've seen two Xenon Invasion missions, but no other military style missions aside from the old "keep safe from Xenon" escort ones.So its not just a rank issue? I have been looking for anything about this for ages written 2 posts about it but no one answered.
But you'd think that there would be less rewarding assassination missions to take out M4s and such at lower ranks.

Thanks for the link, I remember reading that one - missed the BBS part though. I remember being told that natural disasters would occur, but I doubt we'd see them occuring once every 24 hours or so - otherwise people would complain that their stuff gets destroyed to much.
Nothing on AI building competing factories though...
