Patch 7/6/2016 : X3 Albion Prelude 3.1a / X3 Terran Conflict 3.2d

This is a small technical update for Windows only and does not contain any new gameplay features.

• Fixed selection of wrong graphics card on systems (particularly laptops) that have dual graphics.
• Fixed issue with menu performance on systems with particular AMD graphics hardware and driver combinations.

Go get it.

This small technical update for the Windows OS versions of X3TC/AP is available on Steam, has been sent to GOG and the TC part will be on the X3TC DVD version downloads/patches section of the forum. There is a related new version of the X3AP NoSteam exe on the X3AP downloads/Bonus Material forum section.

If that update is windows only, then what is the update I got here on linux?
There was one for tc and one for ap, the tc one downloaded just fine, but the ap one tells me that I have to update tc first.

Steam probably just registered that there was an update but there is nothing new for Linux. You may find that restarting the Steam client is sufficient to let it sort itself out.

Well, it at least triggered the update for ap. So I had a 83kb update for tc and a 147.1kb update for ap.

After the update automatically installed yesterday my game is broken. Any time I try to run it I get an error that the wrong EXE was found; if I select to continue the game starts to load and then crashes. It was working fine prior to the update.

What do I need to do to get it working?

Were you by any chance using the old NoSteam.exe to start the game? If so, you have to replace it with the new one for update 3.1a.

@ dipac001: Using the NoSteam exe with your actual Steam game installation and left liable to auto-updates is a bad idea anyway. NoSteam and modded games are best applied to moved copies of the Steam game folder.

A working non-updated non-Steam game version elsewhere would not have stopped because of a Steam update (nor even perhaps have needed to update unless you wanted a new capability from it). I say all this just in case that situation applies.

Sweet, mine works fine and didn't even break anything.

How long have I been able to use Shadowplay on X3TC? Wow. (Though amusingly, it says I get 999 FPS during the intro movies.)

@Alan Phipps - That's great and all, but it doesn't actually fix the issue at hand. I had thought I had disabled the auto updates for Steam in that I thought it was only set to update if I launched from Steam (which I haven't done). Apparently that setting got reset somehow to automatically update in the background. One of the many reasons I'm not a big fan of Steam, and once I get a working copy I will be moving it out of the Steam default folder to prevent accidental updates. Still doesn't help the current issue though.

So, what can I do to get it working? Right now the game is completely non functional.

Try downloading the latest NoSteam EXE from our downloads page and place it in the game folder instead of the one you are running now (which you have presumably renamed, otherwise the Steam update would have updated that too).

This patch is now available for download on GoG. I don't see any reason in particular to install it, but what the heck...I probably will.

Doesn't seem to hurt anything unless you've VERY heavily messed with your game, so there's probably no harm.

Other than my tubeless complexes my game is pure vanilla, so I'll patch away.

Wrong error message apparently. You need to have X3TC/AP registered in your profile to download the NoSteam.exe. See this FAQ article on how to do that.
