Ferrin Trading (DiD game log X3TC: SUSPENDED)

Post by 89James89 »

NOTE: Other Did failed so here's the new one with edited posts rather than a new thread.

OOC Intro:

Well recently I picked X3TC back up and have been really enjoying playing it over the last week or so I thought I'd document my game play in a new DiD story. Below you'll find a list of rules and general game information for you all and then we'll get started.

*DiD
*Humble Trader start
*Unmodified game (apart from updates and bonus package)
*Trading story so no personally manning any combat craft below a M6 unless I desperately have to.
*Staunch Argon
*No trading with Split or Paranid due to above and X universe lore stating the tension between the races.
*No trading with Pirates
*No building in Presidents End (due to leaving the sector as a memorial)
*No odd station buildings in Pirate or Xenon sectors unless I plan on taking and holding them.
*Will probably add more as I go along.

Rights now lets begin.

Well I've finally actually realised the dream. Got myself off of that old rock we call home .Got myself my own ship too you see. Old mercury she is. Won her in a lucky card game. Luckiest card game I ever played, Poor sod looked ready to space himself when the cards were turned. Still that's life. Slow as a snail but a good working girl when you get down to it.

Got that old junk that my parents got me as a pilot graduation gift too, a old disco, hardly any upgrades and only 1mw of shielding. At least his old girl has 5. You'd think my parents were trying to off me or something. Anyway I'd finally made it into the big old universe and had even been set up by the trading licence office on my home world with a contract with the local ordinance forge. You see they'd pay me to keep the factory stocked and eventually I'd hopefully be able to expand or get a factory of my own. Either that or I'll end up space dust. We'll have to see.

Well you could call it a contract. It's seems that they must have set all the new traders up with the same contract as it sometimes seems that whenever I try and get them supplies some git gets there first with the freight I'm also hauling. Still I'm usually able to offload the surplus elsewhere and seeing as I usually haul e-cells anyway there's not to much of a problem as there always in demand. Seems the galaxies one off universal product isn't actually all that universal. Well at least not on the trading lanes anyway so that leaves more profit for me.

Anyway turns out that at the moment that production is halted at my employer until someone can find some warheads for them. Can't make missiles without the warheads apparently which makes sense. Having this lull in trade seeing as I have no idea where to find warheads meant that I've decided to go in for some upgrades.

So that's where I am now. Sat here in the cabin of the girl, now named 'Mavis' fuming over the fact that I'd just been ripped off by some squid, sold me incomplete maps of several sectors for 11k. Stupid squid. Got the Terracorp catalogue up next to me as well. 100k for a jumpdrive doesn't seem that bad so looks like that'll be my first objective. Turns out also that someone's just posted up a shipment of warheads for sale on this very station. Going to go pick them up then we just need them mechanics to hurry up and I can go make a nice profit on them.

Well turned out that the warheads were well received and gave me a tidy profit. Might actually be a nice market for a factory in there with the warheads. Would have to find out the start up cost and raw materials first though. Anyway this shipment meant that the factory was alright for production and resources at the moment so I had to find trade elsewhere.

Deciding on energy cells I headed up to Power Circle again to pick some up. Should probably have checked the market for selling them first however as it seems that most the stations in Power Circle and Herron's Nebula were stocked up.
Still it gave me a excuse to do some more exploring, heading in the direction of Antigone Memorial (or so the gate information said anyway. My maps at the moment consist of very little.).

Turned out to be a good idea as one of the Wheat Farms was really short on them so I docked up and sold what I had at a nice profit.
Headed to the SPP in Antigone and bought up another load ready to make another run in the sector but it turned out however that that was the only station in need of energy. Slightly miffed I headed back into Power Circle, then Herron's Nebula in search of somewhere to unload them. Turned out that the Rimes Factory needed some so I decided to offload there. Well they did need some until I got there. Turns out some other git got there first though and stole my profit. Still as I was fuming in my cabin I got a call telling me that my contractors were in need of some so headed over there to offload them.

Now it turns out I'm making about 20k credits profit with each energy haul. Its nice but I want some trips in between that help bring the profits in faster. I've also noticed that there seems to be a over abundance of ore. Every station I pass seems to be desperate to shift it at rock bottom prices so I'm going to give ore hauling a go. I don't however know that many places that actually need ore apart from my contractors but apparently there's a lot of tech stations in Argon Prime so I head that way. Turns out that Argon Prime does have a lot of tech stations but it also turns out that they don't need ore, just energy. Looks like its back to trading that but still I have to shift this haul of ore first. Time to do a bit of exploring I think.

Home of Light was useless., some crazy guy contacted me asking if I could ship 25k e-cells to him in 18 minutes. I decided that cutting the coms quickly was the best idea just in case the insanity was catching. Next sector was Ore Belt where rather fittingly Plutarch HQ is situated. Turns out as well that the biggest Argon mining corporation was actually willing to buy the ore I had at average prices. Well there's one for the books. There's also a SPP in sector so I can do some actual trading after selling this ore as well.

Or not as the SPP is running low on stock. Lets head west and see what's in Cloudbase South East. Well that was near useless as well. Shipped some warheads tot he local missile factory but apart from that there isn't any trades going. It's halfway across President's End that I decide this isn't going fast enough. Time to head to Terracorp HQ and beg for a jumpdrive.

Turned out that begging wasn't needed. I apparently have the clearance to buy a jumpdrive which surprised me until the salesman told me that the trade office had taken note of my help to the economy and allowed me to purchase one. Excellent job and while I was at it I picked up some best buying and best selling software too. Time to get some rest then get this profit making really rolling.

That's the plan anyway.

Well that was nice. Woke up from the nap I'd been having to find out that Terracorp had finished installing my hardware for me and Mavis had already authorised all papers and funds transfer. Good old girl. Anyway its time to get this old girl jumping. Still were going to need some fuel first.

With that in mind I head down to Ore Belt and the SPP there. Was going to haul some e cells around as well but my new fangled best buys locator informs me that the station is charging average price for the e-cells so looks like its just enough to get me jumping then. Still not one to go away empty handed I fill up on some cheap ore. Not had a lot of luck with this as you know, but I think the jumpdrive will help in securing me fast and nice deals.

Turns out I was right. Jumping into the neighbouring sector CSE (lazy I know but hey its a new toy) I find that the PPC Forge is offering max price for ore. Now that's a definite result. 30k profit is pretty nice for a job that takes half the time my 20k energy runs took and the dock official informs me that they still want more. Now given that I've just taken all the ore from the one in Ore Belt I jump up to Herron's Nebula to pick some up then its back down to CSW for some easy profit.

Now while entering the system I was messaged by some Split asking for spaceflies. Now that may not sound like a real odd request, despite the fact that their illegal in Argon space and I'm not looking to get my licence revoked but he wants 344 of them. 344! Where the hell am I meant to get 344 endangered spaceflies I think when he told me it would be quite hard he was majorly understating. Crazy Split.

Anyway with the PPC Forge lining my pockets a bit and the dock official a little bit more happier I jump back up to power circle with he full intentions of e-cell trading. Unfortunately more cheap ore tempts me and I'm back trading that. Anyway seems my lucks in as Argon prime seems a bit low at the moment so shipments down there might be a bit of a earner. Also seems that the Weapons Component Factory that I offloaded the Ore at has high stocks of warheads so I fill up on then and take then down to CSW to sell to one of the missiles factories down there.

With that done and I head back to e-cell trading with he odd ore and other ware job thrown in for a while trying to build up cash reserves. I need to decide what to do with e reserves though, Do I invest in a station or do I hire someone?

Now a station would be nice. A little place to call my own. Could move mum and dad out here with me. Make them proud and all but where and what? E-cells are needed everywhere by the looks of it but the crystals needed for them are rare and expensive, plus the stations themselves cost a fortune. No if it was going to be a station would have to start small. A food factory or a mine or something.

At this point a message alert interrupts my train of thought. Turns out threes some Tebaldi trying to sell me maps. Now given the Boron that tried this last time I'm a bit wary but he only wants 9k and its not like I'm going o really miss it so I give him the creds and he hands over the data. Turns out this Teladi was less of a money grabbing git than the Boron as his maps are useful. Go figure. Anyway I thank him and get back to my train of thought.

Now as I said I'm not sure what to do about the stations but the other choice is to hire my own trader to work for me. Start up would cost about a million to get them a decently shielded ship and the software. Then there's the babysitting until they get clearance to use a jumpdrive so there's that. Still it would more than likely be a more immediate return on investment rather than the station but we'll have to see.

Anyway I've got to wrap this up now. Apparently I've got a urgent message coming in from some guy in Argon Prime about some needed wares. Apparently he wants to pay me 250k if I deliver 7,351 e-cells in 37 minutes.

Mavis fire her up we got some hauling to do.

Well the e-cells were easy to ship. Just a few jumps over in The Wall and back and I was quite a bit richer. Just got to remember when shipping e-cells to dump some in space before docking so you have enough to pick up and jump again. Also seems that news of my speedy shipping has been spread around the sector, Some guy wants me to pick up some entertainment chips from a Cahoona Bakery in Home of Light for a party on the Advanced Sat factory. Easy jump over and pick up and I make it with plenty of time to spare. Earnt myself 75,321 credits as well and got a invite to the party.

Now as far as I can remember it was a good night, Found myself sprawled on the floor of Mavis rather than the actual bunk but hey no one gave me any funny looks when I went to get some breakfast so I don't think I did anything to stupid. Anyway back to hauling freight it would sem. I jump back up to Power Circle to find that the Silicon Mines are fully stocked and make for some cheap silicon. It may not be the most abundant material and easiest to sell but when I do sell it it'll be at a hell of a profit compare to e-cells or ore.

Argon Prime seems like a good place to start looking for buyers and sure enough the Swarm Missile fact is paying 70 over the average for them. Not a brilliant price but seeing as how cheap it was a huge profit anyway. That settled I head down into Ore Belt to see if there's any trading to have there. Now it would turn out the Boron are more crazy than the Split. As I enter the sector a buy from the Trading Station messages me and asks if I can bring him 324 slaves. What the freck. Where the hell am I meant to get 324 slaves and who in there right mind would ship them across Argon core sectors. I promptly kill the comm and message the authorities on the station. Stupid Boron.

Its then that I get another comm and I open it up preparing to get another crazy request. Turns out this ones from some guy at Plutarch called Drako Slanner wanting me to deliver 5,703 e-cells. Seems easy enough. He's also offering to pay 252,327 so its settled then. Job is easy. I headed up to The Wall and filled up on e-cells before accepting it as the local SPP didn't have the required amount in stock. This meant all I had to do was dock and contact Drako who happily took what I had then pick up the rest in sector. Took around 7 minutes of the allotted 26 so not too bad and Drako seemed pleased as well. Told me there may be more contracts in the future so that might be helpful.

On that note though I hang up the controls for the day. Seems that after affects I thought I'd avoided from the nights partying was just waiting for the right time to pounce. Mavis is currently filling us up with ore and my heads beginning to feel like its being mined itself.

Ah ok then thanks.

Unfortunately I installed the XTM without realizing that I couldn't use my save games in it so this one is on hold until I uninstall XTM (which may or may not happen). Still I have a new trading DiD which I'll post above.

Cheers and sorry for any inconvenience.
