Kudos to Coruskane for finding this.

Hopefully Egosoft patches this up. Major, major bummer otherwise...

My pleasure. I removed the links as I had 'heard' like a whisper that the director reset in-game option - i.e. superior to this method - could be used without removing / resetting the plots but this appears not to be the case so I will add the links back for this alternative method, which does not have that problem.

Though I independently found that this works, whilst I was playing around with the generic missions MD files, muchos credit goes to glenmcd for

a) identifying this problem 6 months ago,
b) banging his head against egosoft's wall until they finally noticed and have stated they will fix the underlying cause
c) also finding the workaround from above
d) consistently helping users in Tech Support with this issue
e) posting informative posts, with well-evidenced arguments
etc

Hi guys.
I have a problem with Coruskane's fixer. I bought this game just today and I have exacly same problem as you. I have Albion Prelude. After 10hours of playing I have only 3 FPS. I have STEAM version of the game. I copied 3.01 Generic Mission.xml into: steam > steamapps > common > x3 terran conflict > addon > (I made a new folder "director"). I loaded my save game then saved game and quit the game. After load I'm having still 3-5 FPS. Then I tried glenmcd's "fix" by Resetting MD and my FPS is back in normal state. But it also deleted my story plot. So now I'm here and looking for help where is the problem with 3.01 Generic Mission.xml why is not working? :(

Thanks.

YOU'RE A GENIUS! The difference in FPS is absolutely outstanding.

And here I was, wondering why this game would make my pc crawl at 20fps when it can play the latest games lag-free.

Kudos to you and a big Thank You! :)

PS. I had to create a folder called director under the addon folder like so:
C:\Program Files\EGOSOFT\X3 Albion Prelude\addon\director

Thank you!!

I was so excited to go from 15fps (5 fps in battles) to 60fps solid (fraps) that I wanted to play right away, but I was even more excited to say thank you.

I assume that you still "fix" the generic missions periodically using this method after every so many hours of normal playtime.

By the way, the "missions" that you can that are damaged ships being sold (I'm not sure what these missions are called) seem to be broken. The icon is attached to them but I can't retrieve any "mission" from them. Is this supposed to be the case?

Edit: Actually there seems to be a whole sector that has missions that show the icon but don't have any missions. Not sure what that's all about. And they aren't going away after 60+ minutes in-game and multiple times in the sector over those 60 mins.

no it is not supposed to be the case . Check in the xml file (open with a text editor or with your browser).

The buy used ship trigger is L2M150a (note the "a": L2M150 (no "a") was actually disabled by Egosoft when it was deprecated). Check that the chance section (line 108) has a multiplier of 1 if you want the mission enabled or 0 if you don't. If you wan't it enabled then also check that the corresponding action cue (beginning line 325) is not commented out.

In the file I posted I actually set the chance to 0 so they shouldn't be offered at all so I think perhaps something has been edited incorrectly in the file you have??

I have the TC for AP mod so it's likely that there's something that's being messed around in there that's making things funky.

BTW...it seems clear to me that I'm going to have to reset the FPS every 5-10 hours or so if I want to stay above 30 fps; given the way I currently play anyway. I'm watching the fps steadily go down, even with this patch. Perhaps there's something in the TC for AP stuff that's messing this up. Frankly, I don't know how to check or I would.

If you don;t mind not having any generic missions, that will perhaps remove almost all of the need to do the procedure again. To do so, open the xml with a text editor and change all the <...chance...xxxx*1> bits (pretty obvious where they are) to 0.

Thank you. I'll be doing that as soon as I stop doing the missions.

For the time being, I do mind. They're a primary source of credits for me right now.

I just had to fix the issue again after about 4.5 game hours. It went from a consistent 55-60 fps (with everything on high) to about 26. I've been doing a lot of random missions in that time and a lot of traveling between sectors.

That said, I'm encountering an issue where some sectors will keep the icons but have nothing to offer. This seems to be persistent through both fixes. Meaning eventually I'll have tons of icons presumably all over the place with nothing to offer.

When I do the procedure, I don't go into an empty zone. Is it necessary to do so?

Any chance of the original two files being re uploaded somewhere?

I found this thread yesterday and my game was nearly in unplayable state (around 500 jumpgates passed). Since I was doing the Plot at that moment I was a bit afraid of loosing the progress.
I loaded the file ezra posted here, loaded my savegame with it, saved, exited and removed the file again.
The game feels really great again, so smooth and fast...but unfortunately I lost my plot mission.
I still got updates about the war though, so I thought I get it again If I do some "war effort", but I did for a whole day now and it just goes back and forth and I dont get the next mission for the plot.

I saved my savegames ;) so I guess I can go back to normal again. A method of removing the most annoying missions but keeping my Plot would be very great then!

Thanks in advance

Hm, I have to take back what I said.
I just loaded an older savegame with an active mission in the plot and I still got that mission with the great fps.
Seems I was at a stage where it takes a whole while to get the next Plot mission, which is strange as it never took so long before.
I will play a bit now in the older save game and see what happens when i complete that one.

Cretain, I do not think the plot missions are affected at all. Mine have not been as far as I can tell.

So many people seem to have not read anything in this small thread.

The FPS fixer reduce chances for all missions to 0.

Guys you use the mission fixer xml to fix your FPS, that file disables chances for all missions, even if you see a mission offer and contact the npc, it will only give you indications, no missions, if you want missions again, which is obvious you revert back to the original generic missions file, which will in time slow your fps again over time, but there you have the fixer file again to repeat the process as many times as necessary when you deem necessary.

Also, if you are daring you can modify the original generic mission files and comment out the type of missions you don't want, that will certainly make your game last longer with higher fps until you feel you need a fps reset again.

This thread helps a lot but there still is a AP software issue that Egosoft needs to patch up in next patch as it does ruin game play.

This is the Specs on GTX 580 graphics card 3Gig after script is running.

FPS usage after Script is running in background :-

[ external image ]

GPU usage after Script installed :-

As you can see i`m get a usage of GPU of 25% of a framerate of 38-40. As too the normal of 9 framerate i was getting explained in my thread.
Dame it feels like I'm running a GTX 100 lol
There is a Framerate limitation upto 60 put still with a GPU usage only at 25% it should show 60 fps but slightly higher GPU usage.

All the best to Egosoft to patch this issue up.

You're getting only 40 fps with a GTX 580 and that's with missions disabled?? That doesn't sound right. Are you using a script or a false patch for the missions patch? Nice graph pic btw makes it real easy to see what's going on.

The only thing I`m using is the Bonus package and the 3.01 Generic Missions.xml with speeds up the framerate until it`s been fixed. My other thread Was just the bonus package.

Well there's a couple of different ways to install the modified 3.01 Generic Missions.xml. One will work, the other doesn't. From your framerate it looks like you've put the .xml file directly into the \addon\director\ folder. It should work if you put that script into a false patch (03.cat/03.dat) in \addon\ folder. I don't know why this is so it's kinda different to TC in this respect. Give it a go see what happens

Sorry there's no change in Framerate its still the same.

I was running without this script and it was like 9 FPS with script it runs around 40 FPS. in a Sector that I have a few complex`s building up a empire. but it still no where running a full performance at 60 FPS which it should do with this graphics card only using a GPU of 25%.
