[TC] Problem: Can't hire TL captains (unless I cheat and spawn one)

I seem to have a problem; in-game, I should be able to hire the sector's TL class ship since I have ample relations with Terrans. I never get the option to hire them when I comm them from <=5m...

So, out of spite, I spawned the Terran faction a Ryu, and when I comm THAT captain, he lets me hire him for 500 credit each jump!

So, can anyone tell me why I can't hire the native TL ships to the shipyard sectors? I'm a newbie and I'm stumped.

I think that you just can't hire Terran TLs.

I also cheated to make my ratings with the Teladi 99% and Company Director, and I couldn't hire their TL either

I'm probably stupid for suggesting this, but are you sure you aren't contacting Civillian TL's rather than the hirable ones?

Probably! I don't really know. I can only seem to find one TL in the shipyard sectors and it's probably a civilian TL. Is there some other place I can find the correct type of hirable TL congregation?

Civilian ships have CV at the end of the ship id on the info screen.
Whereas standard hireable TL will have TL in brackets after the ship ID.
Also the hireable type will have a bigger icon on the sector map.
A civilian TL such as the Argon Arena only has a small icon on the sector map.

And bear in mind that TLs don't just float around waiting for your call--they can be employed by the AI to drop a station, and you won't be able to hire them if they're in the middle of doing that.

And also bear in mind you actually have to conn the Captain to get the hire option.
