Hello X3 Community ~
For those who enjoyed my previous two releases, Gundam GP01 and The Cadillac..
As promised of a Sexy and Deadly Destroyer, here's my latest sketch on one.

awesome ship, i like it, although its my understanding in order the missile ability you need to sacrifice the front fixed weapons.

[Superceded]Given the angles on it, I reckon it does look like a Split Ship but you could make it a special edition from the Strong Arms corporation who are pseudo pirates (req.s top level rep to be able to buy it?).

WRT name, the proposed one would do for a code name but does not quite fit with the Split naming convention. Perhaps the Split Tyrannus would be a more fitting name (if going down the Split affiliation route)?[/Superceded]

Alternatively, it could be a Pirate vessel available from the Yaki but it would perhaps require you to go on a mission where you have to steal the prototype from one of the other races?

[EDIT]Looking again at the drawings it does have an Argon look to it, boxy but with some curves. Which could make it a perfect target for the Yaki to steal from the Argon. :twisted:

Forget about the custom turret. This won't work properly as it is now.

Look at the my guide about placing turrets on a ship+ first part of my Tutorial about creating custom turrets (link@signature)
Oh and mainguns+ missileturrets doesn't work either.

So you can't make a Custom man gun or Missle turret?

I'm not going to bother dabbling into your guide, I'm a scripter not a modder. (and a bad one at that)

I wish I could mod, I'd make some amazing ships I'm sure, I get really creative sometimes, but you have to download all the editors, converters, mod managers... :roll:

I presume the missile launch points (not turrets) were intended to provide an M7M style capability Assuming this, the missile side of things could be achieved through scripting if necessary (theoretically).

WRT the 12 Barrel Custom Gun, I presume it is intended to be either a top turret or a front turret, and if I understand Killjaeden's tutorial correctly, providing it is the ONLY turret used for the given turret cockpit (Top/Front) there should not be a problem.

So you can't make a Custom man gun or Missle turret?
You can make both.
But his design won't work properly (regarding custom turret) and should be changed.
And you can either have mainguns OR missileturrets. Not both on one ship. You can install a frontturret, yes but no fixed frontweapons.

Because of the rotation of the turret.
Everything is said in the tutorial, if you don't understand it due to lacking modding-experience i can't help it.
This is an advice, of course he can do what he want but then he shouldn't wonder about glitches/awkward behaviour of the turret. Enginelimits are pretty stubborn.

Care to be a little more specific? What rotation are you referring to? I have only seen the concept drawings above and from them I see no major problems except perhaps the turret would perhaps have limited firing arcs in it's current position.

Personally, I think the gun needs to be slightly higher on the model than it is currently. Could be achieved by having a raised turret mounting on the main hull in the current turret location.

I understand your tutorial ok, but you are being too vague as to what exactly is wrong. If you are saying that his 3D model of the custom turret needs to be ammended so that the articulations or base orientation comply with the engine standard then it is a relatively simple matter and not worth throwing the Baby out with the Bath water.

If I understand the tutorial correctly, turret guns have a firing arc equal to a hemisphere centred on the default direction that the gun is pointing. So if it is set as shown in the concept, it will also shoot down and through the front half of the ship and look generally weird.

The only way to fix that in the current design, is to have the guns on the custom turret pointing upwars by default.

Yes, I had read your guides prior to this thread.
My bad for naming the front guns as main guns.. They will be Front turrets.

The top custom turret would be facing up... 90 degrees..
I just have to make it look good. Either that or i make two Huge Turrets left and right or front and back

The shoot through OWN SHIP is just cosmetic. nothing much technical. Just some tweeks to the model and done ~

I'm also planning on Ion Disruptor Antennas located all around the Ship ~ one click on the mouse button and ZAaPPPP.

However i wonder whether i can cover full 360 Degrees. All directions and not just one.

You can not tell exactly how a model is implemented from just the concept diagram, so one assumes that such subtle implementation criteria would be dealt with at point of implementation. It would be unfair to jump on the OP's back about the turret orientations until a realisation of the concept has been seen.
