I imagined this to be more like the way the Borg board ships, but ok.Geekey265 wrote:hey can you refine this and can i use it for my star trek mod?

You're welcome. I made this for myself and I felt that I needed to release it because boarding feels so clunky. I have a transporter device, I should use it.imperium3 wrote:I like this idea! It helps to make boarding a lot less fiddly. Thanks, vampirecosmonaut.

But how are you going to implement the red shirts?Geekey265 wrote:hey can you refine this and can i use it for my star trek mod?

Ohhh! Wait. You can override the default TFile entry for "marine" and replace it with Redshirt. That'll work...

Cool stuff, vampirecosmonaut. I´ll give it go, too. In addition, "Away Teams" is a good name for this!
edit: Can you add to this mod a secondary action, so that it uses e-cells for activation; lets say 10 (or up to 30 or whatever) e-cells for each teleported marine? On the other hand, this could be a stupid idea. I dunno.

This script beams the marines directly into combat on deck 1. There is no hull cutting.
This script, and the cheat script it's based upon, are unique in this effect.
Other scripts teleported the marines into space outside the target ship, this script adds them INSIDE the target ship.

For instant capture, ownership change of a ship is available in Cycrow's Cheat Package.kelmen wrote:why not make them directly inserted into the computer room to start hacking?
or instand captured?
why only skip the hull cutting?
There are already scripts that teleport marines near enemy ships and start the hull cutting.
You can use one of those scripts, or boarding pods, or make them take a spacewalk.
I am just adding another option to the game. If you don't like it, or view it as a cheat, don't use it.

The requirements are:
- Range to ship less than 1 km.
- Transporter Device installed.
- Enemy ship at less than 5% shields.
- Enemy ship can hold marines.
- Player ship has marines on board.
Also, this hotkey can only be used from the playership.

I have a long-term feature suggestion: combat-boarding autopilot.
This way, ships then knows to engage an enemy ship only until its shields are at 5%, and not letting it get any higher (much like the MARS attack shields command for your turrets) when they receive this order. After the shields are at an acceptable level, it will proceed to orbit the ship at around 500m and provide enough fire to keep the shields down - once the marines are inside, it should GTFO so it doesn't get destroyed.
This would be a viable way to use AI corvettes in boarding operations, as well as massing a huge number of marines on board a ship you are attempting to capture without trying to use TP's with the stock boarding command, which is... less than ideal.

I found a bug, unsure if this (great) plugin is to blame though,
i tried capturing a yaki centaur with this, and once the marines were on board i kept my distance untill the fight was over... the ship however, turned blue, with 3 of my marines on it (apearantly, 2 had died) the ship will stay still for a while but fly off after a few minutes... keeping my marines...
what the hell? ain't it suposed to become mine??

This script does not alter the capturing behavior, just the delivery of marines into combat. I'm just putting the marines into combat on the ship, after that, it's the default X3 game handling the rest. Whatever happened to your ship, it has to do with the how the unmodified game resolves boarding.
