Has the Addict gone soft in his old age.

Post by Spaceweed Adict »

Ok this is for those of you who have reached that stage in your universe were you've been following the Teladi ideals to long and are making just to much money and don't know what to do with it.

Ok some will say start over well I don't look at it that way to me thats like doing a Reggie Perren and running away from your problems so no, I,ve come up with this ingenious plan.

I'm going to start a X-Universal Charity organization called "WEED AID".
The object of the orginization is to build stations and Complexs spacifically designed to run at a loss not a profit.

Yer I know the taladi will say I,ve been taking to much of there weed but well what can you do. :D

Ok the cental HQ I'll be building in were else but Elysium of Light which ofcourse will be Named accordingly. Next I plan a network of outlets scattered around the universe known as Soup Kitchens trading only in food and basic supplies for the needy

As this is stricly a charitable orginization no weapons of any kind will be traded from these stations.

All will be welcome at these stations even Xenon & Khaak if they can make it.

I was thinking of trying 1muvwndr plan and sending missionary ships to try and convert the Xenon to see the light but I think sending battle ships gives the wrong impression don't you.

No so todays start a new era in the X-Universe with the opening of the first universal Charity orginization WEED AID.

Do you think it'll work?
Any help and advise welcome.

I'm gathering the complex(?) in EoL will be barred for AI traders and you'll be shipping the product to various selling stations (Points)?

If so, from there (in the ever expanding charity) will you be using a HUB or Chain method of distribution? Cause I can foresee freighters being owned with a long "spoke" on a HUB setup.

Will there be small sector patrols to protect freighters are will the loss and replacements be more money'd loss for that "charity"?

Oh and keep us up-to-date

I was thinking about sending waves of Arans but they are too complicated to produce at the HQ. I guess that's because ten words are more powerful than a hundred guns. And more complicated to produce.

Anyway, is it possible to make loss with a factory?

Oh yer 1muvwndr quite easy buy resources at max and sell products at min.

Look at your stations trade menus the bracketed numbers under your trading prices are the minimum you can sell at without making a loss so if your buying resources needed to produce the product at max well your going to have a good margin to lose money.

The trick will be getting the balance of profit and losses right.

So your thinking of starting up your own charity as well then?

While I applaud the humanitarian gesture, there's a cyincal part of me which can't help but wonder if it's all just a scam, cunningly designed to improve your standing with the trade guilds & shore up a dodgy rep caused by piracy, genocidal massacres & various other nefarious activities... :pirat:

Nah, I finally dumped this game and started a new one. The previous wasn't interesting anymore since I got like 90% of the ships RE'd (mostly the Aran + the TSs still to RE), a total of some 800 factories in some 10 complexes, countless ships, something around 20 billions in money and all but Duke's HQ plots done (that one I couldn't finish since it broke for no apparent reason during the 3rd mission  ).
The new one involves no ship buying and being more a true pirate than in the previous one. I installed some scripts that should make life harder for me too. :)
I'll start a charity campaign as soon as I can afford it :)

Should have started a war with the Terrans that would of made things a little more interesting.
Thats what I plan to do force them back to earth and take all there sectors.

As funny as this post is... It would be nice to have that kind of thing implemented in the game.

I want some more do-gooder options!

For instance, say I try to save a Trader and he gets blown up anyway, dropping a batch of BoFu.

Now I could just pick it up and sell it. But wouldn't it be cool if you could turn it in to a local charity. Or even

Say I make a pirate bail. Wouldn't it be cool if you could pick him up, and he was in your cargo hold as "Pirate Pilot" or "Criminal" or something like that.

You could then turn him in at the local Trading Station for a bounty/rep bonus!!!

Or if you were more mean-natured you could enslave him...

Or make him one of your marines....

Or just turn him loose as a passenger if you're particularly forgiving?!

I have 2 TP with ~20 boron passengers and 1 with 20 argon passengers... (the pilots of those left the ship because err... they saw the light :D )
all of them are cashhungry managers wich need to see the light too -I'll order the TP to EoL immediately.

There is one small annoyance with the plan.... stations will transfer funds to player account, but just try and do it the other way round.... ooops!

I see allot of manual funds transfers coming your way
What intriguing weapons and shields will you use to protect your trade ships and sectors from the Khaak when your not home? unless you can afford capital ships *and luck* its all for nothing, NOTHING! Mwaahhhhahaha
*(amendment for TC since all the good strategy and planning is no longer enough, you also need luck)*

Or maybe just one very big transfer & he get's to see how fast each station can burn through 2 billion, depending of course on how much he's managed to stea... err... earn from his entirely legitimate enterprises so far.

If it was just about dumping money, he could dump it in the charity BBS? or are they too slow for dumping such huge amounts?

If it is more about squaring off income, then that will require much more effort

You might want to check that there is no BBS in TC. :P

Did not see this mentioned as a TC thread.

You should check out his reference to The Duke, marine capturing, and the Aran. All are TC specific. If you didn't get those references, I'd suggest a rereading of his posts.
